Mystery Exotic pet appears and is summonable while I'm in Survival spec

Okay so, I'm not sure exactly what happened. But I'm in Ogrimmar, I'm on Survival spec (which I was logged out in as the expansion rolled in). And have been just working on my keybinds and macros. I have stabled and retrieved several different pets across that time. The pet below in the screenshots doesn't exist. At least it shouldn't exist anymore. I had abandoned that pet either when I logged back in, or when I last logged in last year. Also I'm in Survival, and this Carapid type shouldn't be summonable but I can.

First off I noticed it suddenly appeared in my pet flyout. It also said "Call stable pet 3" instead of any specific name.


Here you can see I should only have my toad pet active and on me


The worm doesn't have any abilities except the baseline pet ones. No family or specialization abilities.


And here you can see it appear on my character warband screen, in I believe it's original size


My current guess is that for some reason, WoW tried to 'find' the last pet stabled on my slot 3, and for some reason retrieved cached data or something server-side when this pet happened to be in that slot.

I'm actually more scared I can't properly abandon it and have that slot back tbh lol.

Edit: Just Beast Lored it. It has no stated Family, and is Ferocity

The thing is, I DID abandon this pet. And I even had other pets in the same slot it was for hours. And it came back!

Edit: Ok, I dismissed it, and filled my active pet list with all other pets. Called my active pet 3, it came out. Then moved them all back to the stable except my Pet 1. Worm came back. So basically I have a permanent worm backup pet right now.
