Hey, I’m a new player in World of Warcraft and I’ve been loving the idea of collecting different pets for my Hunter. I’m currently working through some solo content in Dragonflight and I’m wondering which pet family would be the best for dealing with tougher solo bosses and world quests.
I’ve heard a lot about the different families, but I’m unsure if there's one Escape Road that stands out for soloing effectively. Should I go with a Tenacity pet for the tankiness, or would a Cunning or Ferocity pet provide more benefit for soloing? I’d love to hear your experiences and any advice on what to pick!
What's the best pet family for soloing content in Dragonflight?

Hey there!
Are you playing as Beast Mastery? If so, my favourite solo pet tends to be a Clefthoof.

They're an exotic Ferocity pet so you get the passive leech, and the family comes with a double benefit of Thick Hide (60% damage reduction) and Blood of the Rhino (+10% armor and increased healing taken) which makes them pretty tanky if you can babysit them with some Mend Pet healing. Don't forget your Exhilaration ability will heal your pet, and Survivial of the Fittest applies a damage reduction to them as well as yourself, so juggling your cooldowns can help keep it alive.
If you're MM or SV it may be a Scalehide pet as the next best thing, but I stick to BM myself, it'll be the strongest hunter spec for soloing anyways.

Any pet with the "Triggered Defense" ability is good for soloing difficult content, but I'm fairly certain that only Clefthooves (or, at the very least, only certain Exotic pets) have that additional 10% healing taken passive. Your options for those are a bit wider now that you can respec pets as well.Vephriel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 4:26 am Are you playing as Beast Mastery? If I'm not in a situation where my pet is in danger of dying (admittedly mostly group content where my pet isn't tanking), I either take a Spirit Beast if I'm Beast Mastery or a Carrion Bird if not, for the Mortal Wounds ability. I haven't tried soloing DF yet, but I'm fairly certain this isn't applicable there yet.
