Anyone Else...
Personally, I loved my Araga being unique and just how she was in general. The hunter I have that has her (And the ONLY one that I've found her on for that matter) is only level 61 and I'm feeling such a depression playing and getting all the whispers I normally do about "OMFG What pet is that!?"
I mean, don't get me wrong. I LOVE Araga's skin, but putting it out all willy nilly is just a tad bit meh for me.
A lot of people will enjoy this, especially those who never got the chance to see her before Cata. I just feel bad because I'm going to lose my main Unique pet that took me forever in a day to find.

Re: Anyone Else...
Oh well, then I guess I should be mad that Ryai, taming King Mosh, has her taming belittled because he looks the same as every other Bronze Devilsaur. I mean, it's not like I didn't have to go thru hell and high water, and 5 attempts or so to tame him. That I barely got him after he killed a shaman, and had to go thru a shammy screeching at me because I tamed him...
What I am trying to get at- just because the skin is no longer unique, doesn't mean it takes away from your efforts, luck nor chance over taming Araga.
Because the important thing is you remember, and if even that does not help you still love your pet, then I'm sad to say you never loved Araga, you just loved how rare she was.
That's all I'm saying on the matter as the last thread dissolved into a big hate fest on all sides.

At some point I agree, but I have the same opinion about using coloured text in messages. Seriously:Zangor wrote:we have a thread for this already.....also why do you guys combine your topic titles with what you actually put in the post....i think its sorta stupid
This is fun to read!
It's a bit hard to figure out what's inside the thread, but I can get by that.

Re: Anyone Else...
Personally, I think having a skin that's historically a "rare" and then sticking it all over isn't the right thing to do. It does belittle all the time & effort spent taming the pet, IMO. I wouldn't want to see an entire forest full of Old Cliff Jumpers for the same reason--it's SPECIAL. To figure out WHY, you'd have to do a massive anthropological/psychological study on why rare things/resources are more valuable to people than common ones

When you put in the effort to tame Mosh, you KNOW there's others like him, and you pride yourself on doing it the hard way anyway. When you tame OCJ or Araga, imo, you're also enjoying the fact that the pet is rare--it adds to its value for you, emotional or otherwise. What you don't expect is for them to become readily available to everyone a couple months later. I wouldn't become massively upset myself, mind you, but I'd understand why some would.
On a related note, the fact that there's a lot of people who own now-untameable rares who don't want to see them tameable again makes me sad. I can understand wholeheartedly why some Gezzerak or Ghost Wolf owners don't want to see them become widely-available again--but I disagree anyway. All pets should be available, in my eyes--the varying degrees of actual rarity don't matter, but shouldn't be changed from rare to common or vice versa.
One thing to note, though, is that rarity in the wilds of WoW does not correspond with rarity as a pet. I've seen more Old Cliff Jumpers as pets than the Mangy Silvermanes parked all around him. If you like the pet and tame it, chances are nobody else will be using it, regardless of how common it becomes!

Re: Anyone Else...

I'll just add this: I tamed Araga the other night, after reading that she'll become "normal". I was helping the hubby's alt, stumbled upon her, and decided to heck with it, I'll give her a good go. She's 80 now and I really love her. I sincerely doubt I'll like her less because others have pets like her. She's my pet, and her significance to me is what matters.
I understand the difference between seeing another hunter with the same rare as you and seeing them with a skin that was rare but isn't anymore, but then again, how many times have we read about people just stumbling across Loque? I still haven't seen him a single time in the wild, and that's not for lack of trying, let me tell ya! When I tame him, nobody will know that I was looking for him for over a year. For all they know, I could have been one of those lucky hunters that just were mining and happened to find him... But I'll know I'm not, and he'll be significant to me by virtue of the bond he and I will have, not whether others have the same skin of pet.
I don't know if that makes sense?

Re: Anyone Else...
I will agree with Acherontia in the sense of everything that was in the comment they made. There are more than enough Red/Bronze, etc. Devilsaur's to go around and of course you will see them more commonly than anything else. But you rarely see Araga's skin in the game at this particular point in time. I've also done the time consuming tames of Loque'nahak and I also have Old Cliff Jumper on another alt. Spirit Beasts are rare, but you see them more commonly than things like Araga and OCJ in game at this time. And it's also the same for Mazz and the Clutchmother, though Clutchmother herself seems to be missing.Acherontia wrote:Personally, I think having a skin that's historically a "rare" and then sticking it all over isn't the right thing to do. I love Araga not only because she's a rare coloration, but because she was the one pet that I have tamed and KEPT in the long run. And I plan to keep her even after Cata comes out and the like. I'm not upset massively on the matter. As I stated, I'm just disappointed that they said "Oh hey, we have this skin here let's just throw it out at the ready for everyone."

Re: Anyone Else...
On this particular issue, I think this is an important point to note. At the risk of offending Araga lovers, the truth about the skin is that it's rather plain, and while there's nothing wrong with liking it, the appearance probably won't appeal to most hunters regardless of how easy it is to obtain the skin.Acherontia wrote: One thing to note, though, is that rarity in the wilds of WoW does not correspond with rarity as a pet. The very similar "tigerskinbrown" is already widely available, in a large number of areas no less, but is very little appreciated by hunters in general. I've only very rarely seen it used, and then only among lower leveled hunters.

Re: Anyone Else...
You know, there's a simple fix to this situation... Blizz could add a line on the pet tooltip detailing the original mob. That way if you have the brown devilsaur it'll immediately show whether you tamed a King or a regular ol' Tyrant.Slickrock wrote:I'll give in on this whole issue with one caveat.. I'd like to see achievements for taming rare elites, esp those like Krush. That way you could have the skin more widely available, but still give credit to those that did it the "hard" way.

I know I'd personally be checking out every pet that passed... not to mention, it'd be easy for people to see where someone got a pet - simply check the tooltip and go to the WoW reference site of your choice.

Re: Anyone Else...
Had other shots too but I got rid of them for space. But you can see the difference in their face, as well the side view of her. Araga has not only a unique coloring different then broken tooth but has a much more feminine face and some say a face of a young lion.
I think its a great idea to add something to make rares a little more unique considering all the time and effort you put in getting them. But I find mostly I just have a strong bond with pets, I've worked hard to get. The whole BAM is fun, but it still makes me sad that uniqueness seems to be a thing in the past now.
I hope that this doesnt happen to King Krush either..
Oh and just to amuse you guys.. I present to you.. Dancing teeka!

If anything, this will lower the competition for Araga herself.

I loved her skin when she had the buggy ringed tail, once they took that away it kind of lost it's magic for me... i'm just not a big fan of the cat model in general so if they don't have something reeeeeeaaaalllly special about their appearance, meh.

Re: Anyone Else...
She's one of the rarest pets used now and I doubt that will change. Especially not when Echey's, Humar's and other 'cooler' skins are still readily available in the game. Araga is beautiful and cool yes, but it's not looking like she's going to be bellybutton cool.
If her turning into a common skin ruins her for you then maybe you weren't that attached to, or in love with her in the first place.
