It'll never happen. Sorry, but it won't. Blizzard removed the non armored mounts for a reason, and the only reason they put in armorless Talbuks is because people bitched enough. But for the old mounts? No, again, it won't happen because Blizzard wouldn't have made an achivement for having the old school mounts.Dewclaw wrote:I'd like to see this too, and I know people on the Blizz forums have requested it.
This is just as likely to happen, as blizzard re-implimenting non armored mounts unfortunately.

Re: Making non epic mounts scale to fit riding ability.
We are getting the option to train 310% flight speed in Cataclysm (I think), which is roughly the same as what we're suggesting now. Perhaps the ability to increase the speed of non-epic mounts could be something extra that is unlocked at a certain level and can be purchased if the player should choose?
That's my two copper, though. However, we should remember that there's nothing stopping us from using our unarmored mounts. Except other players on epic mounts if you happen to be flagged or are on a pvp server. I might even use my old Brewfest Ram (NOT the "swift" one!) more often come Cata since my flyer will effectively replace my epic ground mount anyway.
Re: Making non epic mounts scale to fit riding ability.
Actually it is different tbh. As firstly; The 310% speed is obtained ingame atm by having an epic flier. IE like Ashes of Al'air, or the Violet Proto. Secondly, i've heard the 310% doesn't work with all flying mounts. So blizzard is doing this as a cheap way to fix the solution, and the fact that there is probably going to be alot of flying around. Blizzard finally learned that forcing us to use a 60% flying mount when epic was 280 was insane and horribly cruel.Lohuran wrote:We are getting the option to train 310% flight speed in Cataclysm (I think), which is roughly the same as what we're suggesting now. But ground mounts are not like fliers. They all go max 60 and max 100% speed, talents or auras, non included. Speed effects like with fliers do not affect them.

This is a different issue than the old school epics without armor. The old white stallion is still the old white stallion, still unobtainable, still testament to which players were around in Vanilla and rich, still qualification for a feat of strength... regardless of whether the pinto can move at 100%. It seems unfortunate to me that so many mounts effectively become obsolete at 40, and it would be nice to be able to choose which mounts I should like to use. While the epic mechanostrider and ram look awesome, the epic horses and cats look very meh, and I much prefer the unarmored versions.Ryai wrote:It'll never happen. Sorry, but it won't. While we're at it, we should simply be able to choose what speed we'd like our mount to move at, so long as we have the training for the appropriate speed level. That way a 60 escorting his buddy to SFK can opt to use his cool-looking epic horse while keeping pace with the lower level, or that same 60 can opt to use his plainer, but more realistic and softer-looking horse while he's riding around Azeroth, gathering herbs without any sacrifice to his mobility.

That's kinda the thing. Yeah I like unarmored mounts too, but see the thing is. World of warcraft.Teigan wrote:Still, I wish my unarmored horse that actually looks like a horse was as fast as that walking tin can (no offense to those that like them) that passes for the fast horse. Tbh tho the armor would make more sense ingame if our mounts could actually fight a bit. Or if we could fight on them.
And? The same could be said for the AQ battle tanks, that we should be able to ride them because they aren't the special black/purple. But we are denied because Blizzard has evidently stated that it would ruin it for those who were able to get the very rare battle tank. This is a different issue than the old school epics without armor. Tbh there is really no issue, and the fact of the matter is, there's a hundred or more mounts to choose from, and come Cata, you will be able to fly everywhere, and afaik not have to pay for it aslong as you can fly. So why would anyone ever use a ground mount ever again after lv 60/68/77 depending on zone and BoA Cold flight tome.

Ugh. Bigger isn't always better. I like being able to ride straight in through doors, thank you very much. Bigger just means my mount is taking up more of my screen space. I would quite like if all the mammoths were to be hunted to extinction.Worba wrote:When I first saw the title for some reason I read it as "I want my mount to get bigger as my riding skill increases"Tulune wrote:I would love to see this happen. Re: Making non epic mounts scale to fit riding ability.
I was all too happy with my level 20 mounts, because they were the exact same model as my combat pets (cats, d'uh).
However, there seems to be no equivalent to the faster mounts in combat kitty pets.
It was kind of fun to jump on my combat pet and ride away...

Talbuks already have that in place. You can get the unarmored ones and they run at the same speed as the 'epic' ones. I prefer my Talbuks without the armor though. I hope Blizz will think about scaling the mount speeds, then we'd have a greater pool to choose from and more variety.

Differences is- Talbuks were always 100% mount speed. No more. No less.
If they make 60% mounts scale, what's the use of having 100% mounts? This is like saying basic flying mounts should scale to 280%. And mean what's the point in keeping 100% mounts or 60% mounts, if one or the other would scale? And same with fliers? Blizz would probably remove one or the other, and I doubt it would be epic land mounts. As they already proved this when they removed/retired the basic brewfest ram.

Re: Making non epic mounts scale to fit riding ability.
What I would like to see would be for Blizzard to add in a few more unarmoured, completely new-skinned epic mounts. The more to add to our mount list, the merrier!
