Cataclysm brings new launcher and patch process

This kinda sucks. Wow takes a long time to install...

To continue playing in the Cataclysm beta after the next patch, you will need to do the following:

* Uninstall your current Cataclysm beta client
o Windows
+ From your Start Menu, click Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs
o Mac
+ Select your "World of Warcraft Beta" folder and drag it to the Trash icon on the dock
+ Right-click on the Trash icon and select "Empty Trash"

* Download the latest version of the Cataclysm beta client
o Visit http://battle.net/
o Login to your Battle.net account
o Select "Account" at the top of the page, and then select "World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Beta" from the Game Accounts list.
o From the Download Game Client box, select Windows or Mac to begin downloading the installer.

I know, I am so angry about that. It's a several hour process just to download and install the beta, and now they want everyone to do it AGAIN. It's a pain in the ass, and I don't understand why they can't just integrate it into the launcher as is. Makes me wonder if everyone will have to reinstall at release.

If so, they better make the purchased versions of Cata include all the previous patches and stuff. I'd be pretty pissed if I have to do all that again. Downloaded version isn't much we can do about, tough. :/

It should. I think Lich king did and newer versions of the game disc come with some of the newer patches.

With stuff, I meant expansion packs. Everything before Cata, basically. But correct, TBC and LK did include all the patches for the previous expansion. Those "newer discs" don't exist around here. If I install from the disc, I'll have a fun afternoon of patching, even if I buy a new disc. I think the downloaded installer includes 3.1 tough. I don't think it has 3.2 and 3.3 tough. :/
