Re: patch 4.0.1 soon?
Was just about to post this! Gonna copy out the blue post for ease:

This still sounds tentative, but yes, if all goes as they're planning, we'll see 4.0 on that day.We are currently planning to end Arena Season 8 as early as October 12. At that point we will go through our normal process to determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards. This process should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for the Arena-specific titles and/or the Wrathful Gladiator’s Frostwyrm to refrain from transferring their character to another realm until after Arena Season 8 ends.
The next Arena Season will begin for level-85 players approximately one week after the official launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. During the break between seasons, all rated matches will be turned off and only skirmishes will be available. All Team Ratings, Personal Rating, and Arena Points will be wiped when Arena Season 9 begins, but Matchmaking Rating and Honor Points converted to the new currency system will remain.

We're very close to the release of Patch 4.0.1, at this point the only question is "How close?"
As far as I can tell, you can probably expect the patch on October 5th or October 12th. Ghostcrawler already suggested that the patch would be deployed right before the end of the arena season and added that "they shouldn't have a lasting impact on ratings, titles, and the like".
Ghostcrawler wrote:Since the current PvP season will end when these changes go live, they shouldn't have a lasting impact on ratings, titles and the like. We are prepared to just drop a temporary player damage nerf on all BGs and Arenas if necessary just so things don't feel too silly until everyone can level up to 85.

I'm guessing the 5th if arena season ends the 12th, simply because of what GC wrote about there being no lasting impact on ratings. Sounds to me like the changes are going live slightly beforethe end of the season. But yeah, either the 5th or 12th sound like good guesses.

Wow that almost sounds like confirmation for Oct 12th.
GC specifically said "the current PvP season will end when these changes go live" so...
But then the arena post says "As early as..." which implies it could end later, but it won't end earlier.
So, I am thinking the patch won't go live prior to October 12th, but it could be after that.

MMO-Champion's 4.0 posts just get me excited every time they post 'em up. 4.0 is gonna be an epic patch. This week can't end fast enough! 4.0 has gotta be next week or the week after, at the latest! Woot! I'm an optimist. I hate negativity.

I'm guessing the fifth. A bit after another major release, a bit before the end of the season. Enough to keep people interested before Cataclysm.

Yeah, I had to read GC's post like 3 times until i realized what he was talking about. That and the new streaming trial client is going live on the 5th (according to the official website).. makes me think 4.0.1 is coming out on the 5th.Sarayana wrote:I'm guessing the 5th if arena season ends the 12th, simply because of what GC wrote about there being no lasting impact on ratings. Something tells me that BM isn't going to get much more of Nerf. I think they want it to hit hard because everything else is hitting hard. That and it would create problems if you nerfed the dmg when you reach 81 etc. I guess I will have to see when it goes live.

There is an update on MMO about the patch.

Someone just pointed out that the EU site has been updated and now shows October 13th, it either means that the patch is postponed, or that it will be deployed one week later in Europe.

Wouldn't be the first time Europe gets it a week late... I really hope not though, it'd suck to sit and hear about all the new shiny for a full week before you can experience it yourself.

Re: patch 4.0.1 soon?
yah kinda putting my foot in mouth. However I'm not crying wolf quite yet. I want this beta build to hit ptr so I can see the difference is. I know my hunter well and that's why I did a copy and not pre made. I can tell when when I'm doing more dmg even without a dps meter. It's still nice to see number though.Slickrock wrote:Umm yeah.. posted that about 3 hours too soon...AdamSavage wrote:Something tells me that BM isn't going to get much more of Nerf. Re: patch 4.0.1 soon?
My guess is we'll see it the 12th. ( I sure hope so, I'll be on vacation next week, and if 4.0.1 goes live on the 5th I'll loose about 3k instead of making 3-4k on stuff I'm gonna mass-transmute when the cooldowns are gone).AdamSavage wrote:There is an update on MMO about the patch.

And considering the latest buff-nerf game, I'd like to see them spend more time with it.
