Dwarf Fortress?

Looking to play this.

Anyone play this or want to? I've heard nothing but great things.
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.

It looks very much like the graphical version of Nethack...

I also exist on DeviantArt.

ZOMG. This game is ADDICTING!!!!! Its so tiny, but so well thought out and probably one of the best sandbox style sims I've ever played. You don't "win" the game so much as you try very hard not to lose :P. Its chaotic at times and has a steep learning curve, but the below sites really helped me get into it.

First of all, don't DL the game from source. DL it from here:

The link above takes you to a site that lets you DL the game with a tileset that makes little ascii characters into cute chibi dwarves, kitties and whatnot.

Then check this site out for starting tips. I found it necessary to hit this AND read the forum as there have been changes and updates (like, now you need muddy water to farm underground, but busting open a lake from underground, letting it evaporate and then floodgating the lake gives you an awesome plot for a farm)

If you like Sims games, you do not want to miss this!!!!
