[13195] Mighty morphing power pet!

I just went to check out the ogre wing of Dire Maul again. They have groups of creatures there called Carrion Swarmers. However the groups consist of a random assortment of grey beetles, red mine spiders and white (with aqua markings) scorpids. I remembered logging a suggestion some time ago that they all be made tameable.

What the devs probably didn't think about was that they all share the same id! They're now tameable, and when you tame one, for example the red spider form:

You get a pet that is always classed as a beetle, but when you summon it, it could randomly appear in the form of a beetle:

Or a scorpid:

I've reported it as a bug, but it's a rather cool one as far as skin changers go

I'd buy that for a dollar! Although I suspect it is indeed a bug, I'd love a /summon random arthopod pet. That would be cracking.

No, it's in the beta. Since 4.0.1 went live, pretty much everything posted in this forum is to do with beta now

Because beta testing is a responsibility to report anomalies you find, and not an opportunity to hide and hoard fun bugs for your future amusement. Anyone who behaves differently should have passed over their beta key for someone who can make real use of it. Perhaps they want to keep it the way it is, but I was obliged to report it anyway.

Its good that you reported it It is indeed your responisiblity to report bugs, and that is clearly a bug and something that though it would it be fun to say have three different pets. Imangine the chaos that would ensume considering that they are a different types and have different attacks and speciasl. That alone would crash the world as we know it *nod nod*

Technically they would all still retain the abilities of the beetle family, not spider and scorpid. Note the size of the pet when it's in the spider and scorpid forms, it's huge, like the beetles. However, this is a bug and therefore should be reported, even if people think it's "cool". Honestly, I expect that Blizz would eventually find this on their own regardless and change it, but it is every beta tester's responsibility to report bugs/anomalies when found.

Well nothing stopping Beta testers who like the idea putting in a suggestion that it be left as is, given that it's purely cosmetic.

And for the record, that's the size that spiders and scorpids *should* be

Bug or not (no pun intended ) I hope the developers leave this in. And yes, as beta testers, you would be obliged to report it, whether or not you liked it. Hopefully though, if the developers get the hint that we like it this way, they might leave it in.

I still have my three-model pet in beta, but it has no skills, can't be talented, etc. etc.
