The Twin Terrors, Acidmaw and Dreadscale!
Steel yourselves, heroes, for the twin terrors Acidmaw and Dreadscale, enter the arena! But, my heroes there is one question I must ask! With the Cataclysm immenent, would it be possible to tame Acidmaw and Dreadscale on the beta? Dreadscale would be of particular interest with the unique skin he boasts.

Well, this would certainly be a question for the beta testers.
My hunch is that they won't be available, due to each of them going through a phase where they're half-submerged during the fight. Whether they'd be tameable when they're fully emerged is a completely other story.

I'm going to sincerely doubt it. The Beast and King Dred are tameable because they are optional bosses. Taming those worms would break the Beasts Of Northrend encounter.
Let me give Runty a good home.

Oh yes, this too. Unless removal of the bosses by taming would count as defeating them....which is highly unlikely, since this is why Lavanthor isn't tameable in Violet Hold.Ijomi wrote:I'm going to sincerely doubt it. Indeed! One would need two tanks as is normally used with those two. Dreadscale pops out of the ground with more than enough time to tank and tame him. The real question still remains. Are they tamable? Once we know if they are or not we can then start peicing together a method of how we'll do it. If Dreadscale is tamable he's just too cool to pass up.Kalliope wrote:Well, this would certainly be a question for the beta testers.

The wasp boss in AQ40 is a required boss, and Trial of the Crusader is now outdated just as AQ40 is and I doubt it would break the encounter. Keep in mind some of the Core Hounds in Molten Core are untamable as well and they're not bosses.

Re: The Twin Terrors, Acidmaw and Dreadscale!
The difference is that the Beasts fight is a three-parter and everything is chained together. There might be some bit of code behind the scenes that would make taming the worms and Lavanthor (VH) cause major breakage, whereas stand-alone bosses that might be required to advance in the instance can be flagged so that taming them allows for further instance progression. I can't think of a single tameable boss in an instance/raid who is part of a sequence. (I'm not talking about trash, just bosses.)Nanotrev wrote:I'm going to sincerely doubt it. Re: The Twin Terrors, Acidmaw and Dreadscale!
There are boss encounters in which the adds still spawn after the boss is dead, so perhaps it works with the same mechanic. I don't think Blizzard would implement that kind of prevenative measure into the Northrend Beasts fight since a hunter at 80 would be smeared not to mention lose heals since nobody would want them to tame their loot as well. Right now we have no information on any of this so what we really need is someone to take ten people into the Trial of the Crusader and Beast Lore Acidmaw and Dreadscale.
Edit 1- The wasp boss was changed to be tamable, while it wasn't before so that might be an indicator. Perhaps if they aren't tamable now they will be later after it's mentioned in the official forums. Deep down I think I'd agree with everyone else and say they're not tamable but it occured to me as I was eating my lunch the other day as I played WoW that they just might be. Perhaps I can run in on live and see for myself although I'd have to reinstall my Beta in order to try it there, not to mention I'd need nine more people who want to try out an outdated raid to tame a pet.
Edit 2- Perhaps Wain would be interested? (...or anyone else with Beta access for that matter) I know everyone seems to be volunteering him for anything they can think of but here's one more thing for the list if he should feel so adventurous as to run into Trial of the Crusader and take out Gormok the Impaler so the worms will spawn.

I'm not sure if he's optional or not but the Massive Jormungar is in the Utgarde Pinnacle. It's a boss fight and he's tamable. Furthermore, he's linked to the other minibosses before the final boss encounter in the Trophy Hall. You just need to be 82 to tame him on Heroic.

On live the Massive jomunger in UP is untamable. I actually checked two days ago on my hunter
Not sure about Beta though as I don't have one, but i would LOVE to see more jomunger Skins available, I love them.
Rejoined the hunt after a lengthy break... feels good!

Don't wanna get anyones hopes up... however they do have images for the various skin colours used on the new community site... after inspecting the code I just tested a few: -

http://eu.battle.net/wow/static/images/ ... vapale.png
http://eu.battle.net/wow/static/images/ ... agreen.png
http://eu.battle.net/wow/static/images/ ... vadark.png
I based it on the tameable blue pet (jormungarlarvablue.png)
Doesn't mean it will be tameable - but why else would they create images ready for use as a pet model...
(Just added the dark colour to the list!)

I don't think these 2 will be tameable. Anyway how could you ebat the boss fight then? to win you have to kill both.

Re: The Twin Terrors, Acidmaw and Dreadscale!
they are spawned in after you talk to the guy near the entrance meaning that if you tamed one then wiped it next attempt both would return because they will be spawned again
also Acidmaw is the one with the green skin and he also uses the larva form of the green skin as well he did at one time have a bugged sking that was just a more saturated version of the regular jormungar skin but they resolved that some time after 3.2 went live

Re: The Twin Terrors, Acidmaw and Dreadscale!
I'm going to log into live tonight and test out Trial of the Crusader and see if they're tamable now but simply too high of level to tame. I know this could change in Cata but I guess we'll see tonight for those who want to know what they're like on live. Who knows? I just might walk away with a unique skin Jormungar although the odds obviously aren't in my favor.

I started a suggestion thread in the official forums if anyone wants to pitch in or give their opinion. I have to admit, having a new Jormungar skin would look really nice. They're already quite attractive to begin with (to me at least) let alone getting a new skin out of an adrenaline rush of a tame.
