Regarding removed skins
I've not seen this covered anywhere and am very curious as I am in the position for this xpac. I have heard that the Durotar Tiger skin is going bye bye. If you have it tamed already, does that mean it goes the way of the "glitch" pets and can no longer be used? Or will I be able to enjoy my new kitty as I tamed it right after patch before hearing about the removal. Also have guildies asking me.

Re: Regarding removed skins
It should be okay. Just because newer players won't be able to tame that exact tiger, the skin itself will remain in the game. The glitching "ants" weren't meant to be tamed in the first place, so they're a different story entirely.

Re: Regarding removed skins
I've heard the Durotar Tiger got turned into a Lynx skin but that was AGES ago so no idea if that's still true.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Re: Regarding removed skins
My opinion: unless a beast was never-ever intended to be a pet, Blizzard is usually quick on removing that pet, regardless on whether it was tamed or not. Everything is run through a data base. From what everyone has experienced and read over the last few months, re-skin monsters are retaining their NPC ID number.

Re: Regarding removed skins
Good to know as I've wanted this cat on a hunter for some time. Just did not have the space to do so. Now I've gotten it and a couple of guildies have as well and when they told me I said that it was being removed for the skin and was worried if I'd get to keep it or login after cata goes live and find an empty stable slot. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Regarding removed skins
Incidentally, the Durotar tigers *would* change to the lynx skin if they had the same ID number, but since they'll no longer be tigers, that's not as likely.

At any rate, that skin is available elsewhere so it's not going anywhere

Re: Regarding removed skins
That seems to happen when Blizz changes a particular mob without altering anything else (like the false starts we've had with rare spawns and the case with the Scarlet Monastery tracking hounds) - in zones where they change the landscape a lot and put in new beasts to fit better, they seem to use all new IDs. At least that's my impression.Kalliope wrote:Incidentally, the Durotar tigers *would* change to the lynx skin if they had the same ID number, but since they'll no longer be tigers, that's not as likely.

Re: Regarding removed skins
The Durotar Tiger and lynx you guys are talking about are completely different creatures, so no, your tigers will not change.
