Trade Skill Mounts Unfair?

Unread post by Bulletdance »

Its always bothered me that some professions have mounts and others don't. It seems a little unfair with the addition of the 100 mounts achievement. I'd like to see all the mounts craftable become boe and sellable. It'd really help the crafters and everyone. Or at least a mount for every profession. What do you guys think? And any other fun ideas for the profs that don't have mounts?

For alchemy I'd like to see a sort of mount that comes out of a potion like an ooze horse or maybe a chimera.

For blacksmiths maybe a mechanical horse made of armor or a metal bull.

For leather workers maybe they could make a special saddle or something to let them pick from certain wild mobs to use as a mount.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but that's all I can think of. :D

It's a cool idea, yeah. But then it brings up other factors. What about paladins/DKs/warlocks, who get their own special class-mounts? You could argue that EVERY class should get a personal mount, then. Which would be cool, but incredibly time consuming, and some classes just don't seem like they would have their own mounts. Hunters, sure, and maybe druids, but I can't see warriors or rogues or something with their own personal mounts.

Some professions would be tough too. What would JCers get? Herbalists/miners/skinners? Enchanters? Scribes? I think some of them would be pretty tough to do.

Plus, I think in the case of Engineering-mounts at least, they need something to call their own. Since a lot of their stuff is Engineer-only it's a sinkhole for money without many returns until way later in the game, so it is kinda nice that they get rewarded. So I'm told, at any rate.

You're going to deny tailors their flying carpets?

Frenzyheart and Oracles pretty much prove that Blizzard does NOT care about balance :| aka Frenzyheart drops no mount from their disgusting pot, not even a pet. While the Oracles offer an egg that can hatch into one of four pets, a mount or rotten yolk you can vendor.

Tbh I am just glad Mechano hogs, while bloiting expensive are NOT BoP or require Eng skill.

Tho I admit I would love if Blacksmithers could enchant armor and make a horse [something like from Rainbow Brite lmao] or Leatherworkers could, with a few items from enchanters, make a mount. Or Alchemists could make one too. I mean anyone watch Fullmetal Alchemist/read the manga? :| what I thought you could eventually do but nooooooo.

I don't see where you got that from. I meant they would simply be able to sell them and then maybe use the money to buy mounts other crafters can make. I'm going to assume you meant you like the ability to be different and stand out with a flying carpet that you get from leveling your tailoring as a reward and wouldn't like everyone to have one. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was just wondering what everyone thought of it.

Ah, okay, I thought you were talking about removing them entirely.

But still, yeah, as a tailor, I think it's a nice perk for actually keeping the profession.

This will probably change again in Cataclysm anyway, since in BC, engies got engie-only flying mounts, but in LK, they got motorcycles, which anyone can use and tailors got their carpets.

WoW alchemy is nothing like FMA Alchemy. You get a Philosopher's stone halfway through the profession and it's easy as pie to make--no souls required! :D

maybe we can also have a cooking mount or a first aid mount i can see a questlie with patching out a mount useing ur first aid and then accidently bonding with it if it never seen anylove and keeping it as for cooking accidently adding some sort of spice that accidently made ur meal alive ans useing it as a mount while fishing alreadly got a mount but it wouldn't hurt to add a quest mount

The profession mounts are more towards the crafting professions. Gathering professions already give you nice things, for example like stamina, crit and a free heal to boot.

I think the proffession mounts aren't that unfair. I mean if you count as how hard it is to get tailoring matts in the starting, they aren't something you can track...it's about luck and hours of grinding to get cloth.
Engies have to grind alot of stuff to make their gears and it costs a hella-lot of matts to make a mechano hog.

As an LW, I don't have any need for a proffession mount, not saying that it wouldn't be nice....but a Saddle that could give me a mob mount, tempting...would make more people take LW as a proff.
LW's could make in BC mounts faster, with the Riding crop, that is obsolete these days to lvl 70.

Blizzard have stated that they want to get rid of the trinkets and such that give additional mount speed. A CM said they were phasing it out for talents instead.
