Yeah as above if critters get smooshed in a non-damage aoe they bail. Thats why it seems like your pet runs 30 yards away..its cause the critter that was near you just dashed off so it wouldn't die.. but..it ended up dying anyway. My tallstrider would look like she randomly dashed off to get a critt...
