I'm pretty sure it's just regular and it's called "Beetles" but they currently have the exotic silithid buff. That would surely change... either they'll lose the buff or they'll become exotic.lovcat wrote:Is the beetle family an exotic family or a regular one?

As for the buff.. perhaps its the non-BM hunter's answer to the silithid?

At the moment we just basically have a new set of silithid skins called "beetle" - cunning tree, same skins, same diet etc.
It's my hope this is just temporary - like a lot of others, I think beetles would fit more as tenacity pets, either as standard pets with please-god-not-another-useless-pvp-ability, or as exotic pets with, say shell shield and some kind of nice raidbuff (Blessing of Might still up for grabs?).

This.
Brainbugs of any kind are lumped in with the rest of the silithids, not the beetles.

This will certainly work for a while..rubybeam wrote:hehe go into battleground with this thing make player scared of it so they don't attack and kill. my plan in a nutshell :3

And for that matter, as long as the brain-bugs stay big, one hunter can sit in a tower and lock it down.. they will be nerfed eventually, but it will work for a while.

Haha, camp inside the model of the bug, don 2pc T5 to keep it up, and nuke away. Yep, I can see a size reduction heading our way. Pity, it looks so awesome this size.Slickrock wrote:And for that matter, as long as the brain-bugs stay big, one hunter can sit in a tower and lock it down..

Here's an HD Cataclysm Beta video of me showing the exact location and then taming of the Hive Controller AKA the "Big Brain Bug" as we've taken to calling him in guild chat.

We can only hope that the poor guy's brain is similar to ours and completely lacks pain receptors.(or whatever they are called! -- At least, that's what they taught us in health class... >.>)Qraljar wrote:That seems doubtful. Ah-well! This game is all about fantasy. But it hurts my head just fantasizing the pain of salty water or any water filling the brain cavity.. Ugh.. yuck.

So I nabbed this guy, just to see how it looked beside my hunter.

Chugs made a nice vid of it.

I just went to check the Fledgeling Colosus in UnGuru and he's still untameable. Also you the 'beetles' in that cave are not tameable and are not beasts.
