All so to all those stating fantasy over reality - we connect to these games and stories because there is a thread of realism to them - if there wasn't then we wouldn't be interested in their stories and their fake lives. It helps us relate to them because while they may not exist in reality they have a semblance to us and our reality. If it didn't really matter that they look real then they wouldn't have a humanoid appearance or their would be races that are playable that are completely inhuman looking. I have yet to find an mmo or rpg that allows you to play something that is not human looking except maybe rifts. (after reading what I have in this post just want say not trying to be on the attack here. I just hate when people say its fantasy with out really digging in to why we all like to play it)

^This. Both extreme sides of the "its fantasy vs it must be realistic" argument are wrong if taken 100%. The game (along with all other 'fantasy' entertainment such as movies, books, etc) has to strike a balance. It needs to have some fantasy elements to capture out interest and pull us out of our normal lives and just plain to be fun. But yes, they still need roots in reality, especially for playable characters. If it's not 'human' enough, the majority of people will not be able to identify with it. For example, if our characters were bouncing colored cubes with high res intricate geometric designs on them, that wouldn't sell very well. The character design really has to be in between.
Anyways, on the topic of the sexual dimorphism in wow, i think the draenei are the most extreme example. It does seem a little weird to have the male and female SO different, because human differences aren't even close to that degree. At the same time, some other irl animals do show large size differences, especially reptiles where the female is larger to better hold eggs. I suppose the difference in draenei sizes is still (barely) able to be considered realistic. If the males were any larger, uh... There might be some problems with mechanics for producing baby draenei.
