i have a 3 mobile bredband connection, and no storms etc thats bad. I can play everquest fine without lag, just in wow :(. I suspect it has something to do with either the brewfest or the background downloader. I downloaded the "prepatch" but since then its so slow. And yes i have checked that the background downloader is not running in the background while im playing..

just feel so sad.. finally returned to wow.. then having massigve lag

Here's mine.

Not best, more of average probably, but again, I don't experience too much lag and even I haven't seen much in high levels of latency lately as some of you guys are receiving. What me and my dad have is better than it was when we used to have dial-up. Much better. Course, uh, the source of our internet comes from an ethernet box that is up in my room. So, if it goes out or gets unplugged for example, the both of us will not be able to get online.

Mom kinda used her awesome "I'll leave if you don't give a better offer"-skills and made them lessen our bill by 20% and our connection speed went up for free if I remember correct. Need to check it at home.

Telia merged with Sonera a number of years back, becoming TeliaSonera. Sadly, threatening them with that won't work, they've got a monopoly. Ah well, they gave me a 3G modem when Internet broke a while back, and AFAIK I'm not paying for it. Not returning stuff they lend us is awesome. xD

I have been having the same problems but only when I'm in an ICC25 raid. My other raiding buddies are also having some issues too. Do you know how much that sucks during Rotface? X_X;

I'm getting horrible latency too, ever since the patch started to download. Even though I've turned off the patching while logged on, the latency is still very, very bad in Ogrimmar and Ironforge. I haven't had a chance to go to other cities yet. Last night, when I left Ironforge and the Brewfest area and entered Gnomergan, the latency subsided but it still came back once in a while.

I guess it's caused by a combination of the patching and Brewfest.

I'm playing on Aman'Thul from the Philippines.

I LOVE how "helpfull" the forum blue post is.. this is what i got as respond.. :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q u o t e:(my post)
No no and no.. this is NOT i repeat NOT a providers problem. A ton of players all over the world have this problem ever since the new patch..
I dont have this problem with ANY other mmorpgs, so the problem MUST lie with Blizzard.
My internet connection and my provider works fine for EVERYTHING else.

Just look at the forum post.. .TONS of ppl with this problem. Im sorry to be so harsh, but instead of blaming the issue on something like the provider is just silly since all these problem first started with the patch.

Yes we checked that the background downloader is not running in the background, yes we ran a trace, yes we deleted the wtf and interface folder, yes we reinstalled the game and YET there are problems...

This makes me almost regret that i returned to wow..

Fix this please.. and no more " this is your provider" post.. cause ppl from all over the world surprisingly DOESNT have the same provider

Sorry to be so rough but this is a waste of money and time.. cant play with 5-8k latency..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

blue post respons:

There are no server side issues.

Speak to your providers.

Try logging out then logging back in when you're hit by a massive lag spike. I found that it fixes my problem, at least in this instance.

I'm not really sure if it's your connection. I guess you could go into options and uncheck everything that deals with the downloader and then reboot Windows. I often find the downloader "checking" the download, for errors I guess, even when the internet isn't "moving" or whatever.

im sure its not your conncetion im having the same issue again its only came up recently ... about the same time as the background downloader
Since monday ive been experiencing hugh latency iccues. Sometimes in the area of 4-5k. When the latency is at its lowest, 300-600ms the screen freeze for several minutes at a time.
Before monday i had no trouble what so ever
im not 100% sure when the background downloader popped up but i must say its not playing very nice with some of us! alot in my guild have complained about it to even our realm freezes up :(

Bloodhoof is experiencing massive freezes as well. Sylvanas seems fine so far, but I haven't been there much lately. ATM tough, my connection is overall buggy, and everything so far seems to indicate something with the DNS.

Depends on how much you're paying for. If it's somewhere around 8-10 down then yeah, it's pretty good.

Have you tried a different server ? If you can see if you can try again at a friends house and see what happens. If your still having a problem and there on a different provider then it's gotta be something on there end. I had the similar problems with the game cept I didn't freeze up or lagg I would just get dc all the time. I had vent up and everything else going and wow was the only thing affected. I would check your router settings and try connecting to the net directly to the modem without a router. You could also try clearing your dns cache.

To do this, go to Start->Run and type “ipconfig /flushdns” .

(That’s ipconfig-space-slash-flushdns)

Something will briefly flash on your screen, and the DNS cache will now be cleared.

I wouldn't put to much stock into the "other people have it to" thing. Lag is such a common problem that you're bound to find a forum thread of plenty of other people out of the 12 million WoW players who will claim all lag is one big conspiracy. Heck, I bet you could find a healthy number of players who'd swear that WoW killed their dog or something...
