Possible New Turtle

Unread post by JayCanuck »

So I was on WoWHead's Cataclysm page and saw this new entry for a turtle called Siltwash Terrapin

It is listed as tamable under the Turtle family and has this skin:

However, no location is listed on WoWHead (just means it hasn't been found by anyone with the WoWHead client yet).

Anyone spotted this guy?

Beautiful details, though I don't see how it would fare on land if it's an aquatic turtle. Could be an error that it's tameable, but will be really neat if it does end up being so! ^^

Sorry, I forgot to screenshot. ^_^' I just noticed these guys...they're in the lake that was once the Shimmering Flats, and are not tameable right now. I beastlore'd one maybe 10 mins ago. I will get a screen in a minute!

[EDIT] Here ya go.

If they were tameable, I could maybe see how they could awkwardly flop around on land to follow the hunter ;P (awkward turtle yay!)

lol Sea turtles do have to crawl up onto land to lay their eggs after all, so it's possible, just slow. xD

I think they've been in for a number of patches now, but have never been tameable. And just as well... can you imagine the poor thing desperately flapping along the ground up to some boss and then gumming it to death? ;)

There is one new turtle model that looks pretty savage, though (and reported some time ago): The Ancient Sea Turtle model used by Tortolla. He's a turtle "god" or spirit and shouldn't ever be tameable, but there's no reason there couldn't be other new turtles with the same model.

Tortolla did have a bunch of hatchlings in Hyjal....surely since we save the zone, he'd entrust us with them right? :P

Beautiful detailing. Wow! However, I'm also thinking probably not meant to be a pet unless we get underwater only pets. Which would be fun. :)

oh that's a good idea, someone do this? xP. Unless it has a leash that makes it reset before it emerges from the water :P

I'd imagine it would work like an aquatic mob and not be able to follow you up on to land.

Because our current turtle pets don't walk unusually fast or anything. :P

REally though, the land-issues isn't really one. They could slide around fairly easily. Just keep a DK around for Path of Frost and have it slide around! Slip-n-slide-extreme!
Gotta catch 'em all!
