I was thinking more like the ghost saber translucency, I've always liked the look better anyway.

That one I can deal with. I love my ghost saber. Gondria and Arcturis are too blocky for my liking and too see-through. Arcturis is too bright.

Ugh, yes, this. If Arcturis's butt wasn't so blocky, I'd be more attached to him.

I will honestly never understand why anyone can dislike Loque. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the opinion if someone has it, but, as one of the original responders pointed out, when it comes to the spirit beasts, Loque is far and away the most unique sb of the four. He has his own model as far as I can tell in terms of physical shaping, his coloring is amazing, vocals (I personally love them but can understand how they could get annoying to non-hunters)...

It just seems like Blizzard went out of their way to make sure Loque had the kind of package to create a buzz. Gondria is just a re-color as well as Arcturis and Skoll is somewhere in between those two groups; not entirely new, but a little razzle dazzle and a little change of pace from a cat-only world of prowl.

But enough of that...

To answer the original poster, and questions like these make me wish I had some sort of artistic flare, I definitely expect a few new spirit beasts come Cata and the jackal idea is great. Some sort of mythological tilt to a mastiff model as mentioned above and, while a black and gold would be suitable, I think something of a more colorful richer nature might hit the spot. Maybe something like that paint that changes color when viewed from different angles? Can computers do that? Make a model change color depending on what angle someone has on it? Even when viewed by multiple people from different angles at the same time? For those who can't grab the image, I'm thinking less barrel chested mastiff or scruffy spitz (like some of the thinner wolves from vanilla) and more shaped in the fashion of a well muscled pharaoh hound...

A lot of people have been asking for Wind Serpents/Spirit Beasts and I can admit, I somewhat have my fingers crossed that Azzere will have some sort of new model in the Barrens come Cata. Possibly a new model and a return to the cloud of smoke appearance. Something a little less flying snake and a little more Chinese Dragon maybe... Side Note: Why is it that Call Stabled Pet is a spell and yet pets just kind of ... mosey on out of nowhere when we call them? Where's the arrival and the show there? Why don't silithids burrow up beside us from underground, flying pets soar in from the sky, etc etc... Am I the only person who has always wondered why Blizzard finds it entirely acceptable for my hunter to pull a giant bear out of thin air without even an inkling of showmanship? No flare, no wow-factor, not even spirit-fingers....I mean come on, at least give me a giant top hat of some sort....

Just thought of this, aren't phoenixes (spelling?) originally Egyptian? If they were tamable in game, I think that would be reason to take a week's vacation to tame.... less plume and more predatory bird than the Temp. Keep mount of course. Deeper chest than the eagles they have in game now with a little less neck. Something that would make Ephoneix proud...

Ok, one more for the road, how about a mantis model? Something like a mix between a wasp and a silithid? Metallic bright green and silver, little bit of yellow or something to add for detail, moves around on insect legs but takes off when it uses Dive to close on enemies.... something that doesn't straight line realign itself when a mob moves but strafes to reposition behind...

Ok, seriously last one and this one is kind of meh but I can see it having possibilities...give me a new ghost saber. Don't just tweak the transparency levels and the color either, how about a true ghost cat? Black-gray-blue leopard modeled like Loque but a bit beefier. Jaguar maybe? Glowing eyes, not bright, but not too subtle. A sb that becomes fairly solid while standing still but gets increasingly less tangible the quicker it moves, like a priest that somehow got stuck in a Dispersion state. Like wispy smoke.... Loque's body seems to be a solid shell housing a beast's spirit. How about a spirit beast where the body isn't so successful at containing that spirit...?

I like the windserpent idea. Definatly opaque, maybe a spiffy model with glowy bits.

Also, how about a white hart? Maybe they don't like the idea of stags as normal pets, but the white hart from Arthurian legend could have a spirit beast feel.

Hmf. I rather thought his transparency had a slimming effect?
