Strange Falling Noises

Has anyone else been hearing quite a lot of loud thumps on the beta? At first they seemed completely random, but now I'm sure I've pinpointed the sounds to some of my pets. Ainamiss (or the brain bug model in general?) seems to be making the sound, and I'm now in the process of looking for other pets.

I remember that sound, and I think it was from the colossus I had as well.

Yup. The only time I hear it is when my brainbug is out. I'm assuming some kind of idle animation that didn't animate. Or something like that. I've learned to tone it out.

Yeah I remember that noise when the brainbugs were first tameable (back when you could charcopy with Soriid/Haarka that is!). Does it during the idle animation when it "looks around".
Must have very clunky chitin!

I think it is supposed to represent their hard shell legs thumping the ground, pretty sure that's what it is.

I reported it, because it seems to be missing an animation or something. But it honestly doesn't bother me much. It's a lot less annoying than the patch where my Druid wouldn't stop yowling in cat or travel forms.

I just tamed the Hive Controller (the model with the exposed brain), and yup, these thumping sounds are definitely coming from them. I submitted a bug report as well.

The thumping makes sense for the big ones. You would originally only fight against them in a group, so all the combatnoise would drown it out a bit, and the original ones really are big enough to require it. :D
