Netherwing Grind! ~Edit Victorious!!!!

Unread post by Royi »

Hi, I'm new to the Netherwing grind, the furtherest I ever got was finishing the questline and then going over to the island where you become disguised.

If i'm looking to start this one up, I am just curious to know what tips are out there to make it go smoothly. I have heard about just "going for the eggs" but alas, I have no clue to what that means.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Now that I got the rare pets that I wanted I have time to do fun grinds for more mounts :)

~Edit only took 1 week :) Found a lot of eggs along the way too :)

Do all the Dailies every day and get at least three eggs a day and you're gold. TBC is dead, lately so you should be able to find a lot of eggs.

EDIT: Should take you six days.

The eggs are Netherwing Dragon Eggs, which drop off random mobs on Netherwing Ledge, can be found in herb and mineral nodes, or are sometimes just sitting out in the open. I found the most in the Netherwing mines, which are also the site of 2-4 daily quests. You should be able to pick up at least 2 eggs a day while doing your daily quests.

The first egg you hand in is worth 350 rep points with Netherwing, and all subsequent eggs are worth 250 rep each -- and there's no limit to how many you can turn in a day. Theroretically, you should be able to finish your Netherwing grind in just a few days off of egg turn ins and dailies.

"Going for the eggs" will make it much quicker.
Here's a nice little site to help with the locations.

The first egg you turn in will give you 350 reputation, each egg after that will give you 250. Depending on who is farming that day and how well you are acquainted with the egg locations, you can get a bunch pretty quickly. It will lower your grinding time by at least 1/3 depending on your persistence.

I believe there are up to 4 eggs up at one time.

I found 8 eggs on the first day I started on my Dk! And I didn't find another egg until the third day. After that I averaged 2-3 eggs a day. It's pretty much cliche now: But the more eggs you turn in, the easier it is to grind the Rep. Just memorize the spawn points...And yes, most do appear in the mines.

What they said, do the dailies, when you go up in rep, you get new quests and dailies, so it actually starts to go faster.

Also, if yer a hunter, and don't feel like goin thru the mobs in the mines, you can do EotB (use it while you got it!) and explore the mine to look for eggs! I did that alot...or if yer a lock, you can use the Eye of Kilrogg...

Or, if yer a DK and happened to get a certain item to drop which summons an Eye of Kilrogg, that'll work too >.>;

If you are an herbalist or miner, it makes life a lot easier as well. I got my Netherwing in a week, and the end half was towards Winter Break, too, with more people about.

Yep! Nethercite ore you have to mine for...and you can keep mining it even after you finished the daily (do it, cause you can also get eggs from 'em) then turn in the ore right away the next day.

I have seen many people pass these mobs up in the mines when I went there doing the netherwing rep over two years ago. These spherical blobs, which can be found either near the mine's entrances or a bit further down where the red earth crawlers burrow underground, are one of the best mobs to farm the eggs off of. For one, they are number three in having the best chances of dropping an egg. Then they drop these sludge-covered objects, which will very rarely but likely reveal eggs, too.

I mention this because I remember how my experience was. I actually found quite a few eggs off of these blobs and I think one or two off the sludge-covered objects.

So, if you decide to have fun in the mines, don't forget to loot them, too.

Good advice about the mines. The sludges are the lil blobs right? I have found good spots in the mines for Eggs too, i think nowadays theres only about 1-2 other people doing netherwing at any given time and most skip the mines.

This grind is actually a new favorite of mine. I love doing daily quests and the chance of coming across a Egg to gain bonus exp is another fun thing added to this chain.

Can't wait to be done with this one though. Going for Skyguard and Kurenai (mag'har) next ;)

If you get two mobs to 1/4 health, they will combine into a Blood of Draenor or something and those mobs have a higher chance of dropping eggs.

Really, it's a lot less of a "grind" and more of a "chore." I think of Shattered Sun Offensive as a "grind."

Netherwing is really easy now, I did it on both my character inside a two week span. I just did the dailies and averaged about 4 eggs per day, though it could range from none to 7 (at my most).
The mat farming daily is most arduous for a Skinner, but because you kill more mobs there's a greater chance at eggs.

The best part of the Netherwing faction now is that the race quests no longer can dismount you if you're hit by your opponent's countermeasures, they just slow you down. So it's pretty trivial getting that done and the rep is huge, not to mention you get the Skyshattered achievement.

Ahhh Netherwing... I grinded that back when you had to fight five people for one egg. XD I used to just sneak by and snag it whenever they started arguing or fighting over it.

I don't think anybody mentioned this yet, BUT...there's a whole mountainous area on the island where there are flayers. They're not in the mines, they're up above.

There are TWO elite flayers that are enormous wandering around. One of them (I forget which one) drops an item that starts a quest. It'll tell you to kill the other elite flayer, and I think 10 little flayers. You can turn it in for more netherwing rep.

Used to be a BITCH to do back in the day, but very easy to solo at 80 now.
