Greetings from Germany
Special thx to Zeilla8 (youtube vid)
Tamed on September, 22. (500g to the Alliance)
Serverfirst. First I named him "Pest". New Name is "Wolfsdämon".

Just wanted to post that thanks to this forum, I got my wolf! Took about 10 tries. Toon is level 76 with about 5.8 haste and had to start my tame at 7.5 seconds left in the trap as other have said. So far I have switched stable pets and then called him out again without any problems.
Thanks for all the posts and explanations on how to get the nice looking pet.
i'm assuming this'll be the most poular wolf soon on all the servers? i don't care i was first on my server! atleast i never ever saw anyone else with it and i tamed as soon as the news was spread

A ally player MUST HAVE THE QUEST FOR ANYONE TO TAME THE WOLF. Read the first few pages of the thread.
This was tested hundreds of times by different players without the quest and timing didn't mean a damn thing because the end result was still the same.
I believe this was the original thread where it was heavily tested. http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... ained+wolf
No one knows how the original person got the animal. As a matter of fact I think the original person wasn't even sure they ended up with it.
If it's a matter of timing as stated then by all means abandon a pet you have and start taming then report back that you were able to do this without having the aid of the wolf turning neutral to perform the tame.
So Antares and bloodysam please test this for us and take screen shots and show us how it was /is done without the quest and someone turning the wolf neutral.

Oh, I have never tried. And I have no desire to try. I was just reiterating what I've read elsewhere. I think it was on wowhead? *shrug*

Wowhead posters aren't always accurate. They probably meant that the person taming didn't need to have the quest (which is true), not that the quest wasn't needed at all.
i dont trust to many people on wow head, i rarley use it regardless, but there are so many people these days that will want to mess with you just to get a laugh, even though they may never know you listened to them = /
Hello, I just tamed this awesome jet black wolf! 21/10/2010. So, if you have been having trouble getting the wolf to stay black, here is how I did it. To start with, u need someone to feed the bait for the quest as stated above. Soon as the oil-stained wolf changes for quest, ice trap and tame. If you timed it right he will disapear in the end of tame, not become friendly. Then, open yr spell book to "call pet" and click the first whistle in the lineup. This should call a black wolf! Remember to feed and rename it right away. After that he will show up in yr list of pets.
