Raptor Collection finally complete

Unread post by Vephriel »

I've had the majority of the Raptor minipets for a long time now, but the Razzashi Hatchling has constantly eluded me. I have a bad record with the RNG gods, and honestly I expected to never see it drop.

Today while idly browsing the Auction House I saw one listed...for 2000g. In terms of rare minipets, it honestly wasn't a bad price. I debated for a while, got some outside input (thanks Kalli :3), and eventually decided that the gold was worth it for a pet that I was unlikely to ever see drop, and more worriedly one that may possibly be retired with ZG's uncertain future in Cataclysm. Sure it may seem a waste of gold to some people, but I figure if I dedicate some time to mining I can get it back fairly easily. It's worth the peace of mind to finally have it, and the red colour was always one of my favourites. ^^

So, I cheated a bit, but...at least he's finally mine. xD

EDIT: Oh, also realized he makes my 101st minipet. :D

Congrats! :D

I was seriously debating whether to buy him, but then someone saw the notes about ZG going away and the price jumped to 20k overnight. :| The little bugger just constantly eludes me. :(

Grats! :) (and np!) The peace of mind is really the kicker for me and I'm glad you went with your gut. :) It really comes down to how much a particular goal means to you if it's worth following up on like that. It definitely was for me and the emerald whelpling. :D

Gratz Vephriel! the little raptors are so cute!

I'm hunting on and off for the purple deviate one myself, but it simply won't drop :( I'll keep trying though, I'm not sure what will happen to that dungeon after Cata.

Well, Blizzard said today that the Razzashi Hatchling is indeed being retired. Now I'm really glad I snatched him up at only 2k.

The deviate hatchling took me around 35 runs to finally drop (I think it was actually 37 or 38 but I started losing count). Then, because my hearth still had a few minutes left on the CD, I decided to run it again just to waste time and another one dropped. Strange luck.

But yeah, it seems to be about a 1/1000 drop chance last I heard, so it very well may take a while. Good luck!

Grats on your raptor, Veph!!! I love the red one, too. I actually managed to nab a Razormaw hatchling (the green one, right?) for only about 300 or 400g one day, I couldn't pass that up. They usually are 2-3k and the Razzashi are up near 10k. Goodness.

Still have never gotten my emerald whelping, and I farmed it for a long time before giving up. And in beta, the mobs that drop it are gone. So I worry that the emerald whelpling mini-pet may be getting retired as well.

Someone posted a Razzashi for 75k on our AH Rhy, that's why prices jumped. :| I haven't had luck with any of 'em though I keep checking for nests when I'm in the area and such. :(

Hehe, a 1/1000 drop rate? That explains a lot  I'll keep trying on and off.

I ran into the green one by accident two days ago, while trying to retame my devilsaur. I almost tripped over the nest, lucky me.
I gave it to my hubbie, since I know he wanted that one badly. Easy come, easy go I suupose. :)

This is exactly why I shelled out the gold for mine when I saw it on the AH fairly recently. I didn't want to take the chance. And I love that Kalli's finally got the whelpling she's always wanted.

On Deli, the Deviate hatchling dropped on the very first raptor I killed. I just wish I had that same fortune for the emerald whelpling and the dark one.

Congrats on finishing the raptor collection.
