hunting for Loque
I have started to go after Loque now that my hunter is level 76. I was wondering if there is anything special I need to look out for. i.e. does spirit strike hit from behind, does rapid fire effect tame speed, where was he seen most often, etc...
I humbly ask for the wisdom of those that have seen or tamed him already.

Re: hunting for Loque
Just pull him into a freeze trap and you'll be fine, that's how I got mine. No specials to watch out for per se, tough haste pots are nice if you fear that achievement hunters are close.
And no, rapid fire just increases your ranged attack speed, not Tame Beast duration.

Re: hunting for Loque
Well, firstly good luck. As has been stated a freezing trap is really all you need he's not a tricky tame it's just the finding him that sucks. Anyone reading this who used to use the old forums will probably recall my considerable (if warrented) QQing about this awesome creature, since seeing a picture of him prior to the Wrath launch, I knew I wanted Loque' he's just awesome. Sadly my hunt was over 75+ hours of searching including missing him by around a minute for a poorly timed quest choice (I just got sick of lapping) and other than that never seeing him, or indeed any of the other rares alive or dead. I then saw him dead one morning, came back the next day on the off-chance, and finally managed to find him, alive and well, I then managed a successful tame. At this point I'd like to point out that anything you've heard about the adrenaline rush this causes is an understatement. I assumed I'd be pleased, I was shaking like a crack addict for a good ten minutes after his name went blue, it was unreal. From my readings I have to say that I must have been unlucky, as I dont know of many people who'd spent quite so much time looking for him as I had, but I'll say this, he's worth it ^.^
so, tl:dr, He's awesome, worth the hunt, and a proper challenge for a serious reward, I wish you far better luck than I had, and hope you dont lose as much sleep and sanity on mindless laps as I did.

Be preppared to spend awhile looking and flying in circles.. Random is random... If your lucky and get him on the first day; I HATE YOU... I spent like the above poster many, many, many days flying in circles (I got very good at playing the Peggle addon).. Mine I got at the northwest spawn point by the river.. He was just standing there and waited for me to throw down a trap and tame... Good luck On your Tame

Another 'good place' (people seem to find him there more often) to find him is near the monkeys in the SE of the map, beside the wasp hive. That is where I found mine. Just make sure to place your trap at your feet, because he'll leap at you. If you can freeze him, and no griefer comes around, you'll be golden.
Yeah, and "shaking like a crack addict" is a good way to describe what the tame does to you.

Re: hunting for Loque
Like I tell everyone, the two spots close together by the Gorillas are the prime place to tame- especially if you don't have Epic flying or if camping alone- this lets you hit two spots in a relatively short time frame, increasing your odds. Just down the Gorillas by the waterfall point, move over to the point next to it in the trees, down the Gorillas, and so on. If you skin, you'll have plenty leather for loads of cash, and eventually, a new companion.
Good luck!

This! I found him there once, and another time dead by the waterfall gorillas, where my sister saw him. Re: hunting for Loque
First post ever
I managed to get Loque within the day when I was 78 with my slow flyer
.
I just flew round and round in circles all day herbing/inbetween instances and quests, flying over the spawn points. I was about to give up when he popped up by the Nesingwary basecamp! I think I was lucky as it only took me around 4 hours (longest was Skoll - 15 hours
- I have all 4
).
I've heard tons of storys of him taking much longer, as sadly this is the one spirit beast that's part of an achieve! Stick at it, you will find him if you look long enough!!

Re: hunting for Loque
Does anyone know what the respawn timer is on him? There isn't much activity on my server in Shalozar Basin, besides miners and herbers, but if I do find his body
How long should I expect to wait for him to respawn?

Re: hunting for Loque
I believe its roughly 8-10 hours, however thats the timer for all the rares in the zone.Dulanie wrote:Does anyone know what the respawn timer is on him? So if King Krush or the Bird are up, then loque wont be, and after the last one of them is tamed is an 8-10 hour wait until one of the 3 can spawn. This means statistically its roughly once every 30 hours assuming someones kills/tames the rares pretty quickly!
Its an epic hunt, but well worth it!

Re: hunting for Loque
I'm positive "zone-wide spawn timers" are a myth, except for the Time-Lost Proto Drake and Vyragosa. People have reported all rares in a Northrend zone up and alive at the same time. Loque's spawn timer is around 6-8 hours, I believe, as are King Krush's and Aotona's, and they are separate.

Re: hunting for Loque
For the record, I don't think you need any major gear or tricks for taming this guy. I stumbled across Loque totally by accident and was in such a rush to tame him that I fumbled and misplaced my freezing trap. I tamed him without any haste potions or traps, and with pretty basic level 80 gear (straight from quests, nothing major) and barely went down half my health bar. You should be fine, especially if you end up using extras like traps.
Though yeah, make sure you place it directly at your feet, because he DOES pounce and WILL jump your trap if incorrectly placed.

Re: hunting for Loque
I echo the statements about the two gorilla spawn points in the SE corner. When I went hunting for mine, that's where I ended up seeing him. (I also jokingly suggest you take up mining if you're not already a miner, as I found both Loque and Skoll while out mining rather than while actively hunting them
)
And don't worry too much about the freezing trap, though it's a good idea! Just drop it at your feet and tame, don't back up, as he jumps to you! Just try not to be like me and immediately break the trap before you get to business

Re: hunting for Loque
Loque doesn't always pounce in my experience. When I tamed him on Kas, I was expecting a huge pounce from him (freezing trap at Kas's feet), but instead Loque did his spirit strike attack and ran directly towards us and into the trap. We were about 20 feet away from him at the time (with sweat breaking out and heart pounding like a jackhammer thinking his tame would be interrupted LOL).
I've found him just across from the Nessingwary Base Camp twice now, once on my 80 main, once on Kas when he was level 76. It's dead on seven hours between rare spawns (either tamed or killed) on Saurfang, so it may be worth your while, if you stumble upon Aotona in that time, to either tame her or kill her and start the timer from there. It may mean leaving the area and coming back either ten minutes before or dead-on on that time every hour before you find a system that works for you on your server. And it is completely random what spawns in their place. Krush, Loque and Aotona can, and will, appear more than once - I know Krush appeared twice in a row for me at one time. Frustrating for those after one specific spawn, but nonetheless interesting.
Good luck, dearheart!

Re: hunting for Loque
Goodluck Dulaine!!
One thing I can suggest is to use NPCSCAN (_npcscan on curse client). Get the map overlay too, that way you can easily follow the spawn points around, and NPC Scan will go crazy if you in range of a rare (i.e. loque!). Remember to clear your cache first!
There are two main methods for searching:
1) Fly around herbing/mining (or run around), going past each of the spawn points.
2) Camping one spawn point out. If you go with this option you can do something else while waiting (i.e. read a book, watch tv, play ps3) with your sound turned right up, so u can hear if npc scan detects the rare! Just make sure that you move your mouse now and then so that you don't get auto logged out!
I personally have had more luck with the fly around spawn points (except for the Bear, as he just has the one spawn point).

Re: hunting for Loque
Also, having forgotten to mention it in my previous post, I've got to agree with Gigglemonsta, getting a rare addon is just so so helpful, personally I use ESN Rare as I believe a fair few people on here do (theres nothing like flying around and having the sound of a cat meowling at top volume to make you jump up and pay attention) because it seems to find them from a mile off, so that's my recommendation, although NPCscan mentioned above has also done me well in the past
Again I wish you happy hunting

Re: hunting for Loque
Oh, about addons! I personally use Silver Dragon. It works exactly like NPCscan, but you don't really need to clear your creature cache every login to use it. Hence, why I prefer it to NPCscan. ^-^

I'll be attempting this as well this weekend. I wouldn't mind taming Gondria either, but the aim is to catch loque.
