Arcturis :(

So after three days of seven hour camping, and a fifteen hour camp yesterday, Arcturis finally spawned. There was another hunter there when he spawned so I quickly tagged him and began tame. He pulled him off me, and I quickly pulled him back for another tame. With 1.8 seconds left on the tame, Arcturis is pulled off me once again and killed.

Now, this hunter and I were both Alliance and he and I had actually carried out a very civil conversation earlier in the day and he didn't seem like the sort of person that would do something like this. But, appearances can be deceiving and he had seemed like he was trying to get me out of the area several times during the course of the day. He had also told me that the last spawn for Arcturis was the previous day and a Horde hunter had gotten him just before he could. I'd bet anything that he tried this same stunt on him but the Horde hunter was actually successful in the tame. He didn't even say anything afterwards, he just logged out. I sort of actually would have preferred if he had acted like a total prick and gone "lololololol" afterwards. It would have made it even easier to hate him.

At least I got some gold and frostweave, I suppose... I pray Arcturis spawns on the twelve hour mark so I can finally end this but, I'm hellbent on finding him now after this fiasco. In the meantime, I will be working on planning for NaNoWriMo.

If that hunter ever reads this, I'd like him to know: If you hadn't killed him, there would be one less hunter there vying for him today. If you hadn't killed him, I wouldn't have known what an utter prick you were. If you hadn't killed him, I wouldn't be there right now waiting for you to log back on so I can stare daggers through your pixelated body. >:|

when this happens It allways makes me want to hire some opposite faction muscle. You know hes an alli, our an alli. roll a hordie lowbie and talk some hardass troll into guarding you. Or even better see if any of your friends have hode chars on your server. Hell if you were on thunderhorn or nessingwary Id come cover you.

I'd do that but the problem is that Proudmoore is a PVE server so I couldn't kill him even if I wanted to. The downside of being on a PVE server, I suppose. If I had been on my old server of Mal'Ganis, I would have called in my brother to do some hardcore ganking, well, if Holy Pallys could do some hardcore ganking anyways. XP

Aaaaw. I'm so sorry the jerk did that. I never, ever, ever, EVER understood why a hunter would steal a mob. When you kill it, now there's two of you still stuck out there. If the hunter you stole it from got it, now that'd be one less competition, plus you'd have a new friend. Now, you have blacklisted yourself in that hunter's mind, and if what you did was harsh enough, in the guild and maybe, depending on that hunter's influence, the server's mind. Good going indeed.

I'd much rather cheer for the hunter, stand with them those precious food seconds, then /cheer and /pet the new pet, and offer the person beer and brownies, and we'd celebrate. Because I'd just earn myself a new friend, a new buddy to help me look for MY pet, and if some horde ever came along to try and steal it, that hunter buddy of mine I just made could cover me.

So really, why do people do it?

Also, my friends dragged me into NaNoWriMo. I'm just lurking for kicks, and if an idea comes, I'm ready. Till then, I've got nothing.

Exactly. I personally would have let him have him if he had been the one to start taming him first and he might have actually tried to tame him after he pulled him off me but there was a huge error message that wouldn't go away blocking my view. I really don't see why he had to kill him as even if he did, he wouldn't have even gotten the loot off of him. I want to see if he actually has the guts to log in today as he knows I will be there.

This will be my first year doing NaNoWriMo so I'm pretty excited. No support from the family and friends front but, I've got plenty of writing buddies on the actual site itself.

XD That's a great thing to do. I want to know exactly how proud he was when he killed him and whether or not he felt like a complete fool once he realised what he did. Probably not.

The person who tags him first should be allowed to finish the tame and now instead of him having a timer, he still has competetion for the bear and alot less respect from the other hunters, including you.

Most people who kill a rare usually end up laughing in your face just to prove what kind of people they are. But I am thinking he tried to pull off and got a crit. Spirit beasts are squishy.. almost killed loque in three shots while waiting for a guildie.. and the same with skoll. Was not a good time.. but luckily I didnt kill em and they found a home.

He was meleeing Arcturis down once he got aggro so I'm assuming it was intentional. He also pulled him off of me twice and in very close quarters so there would have been no chance to hit another shot once he got Arcturis' attention. Haven't seen him in the area so far but the day is still young.

Yeah, at least now I have a general time frame of when he should spawn. There is another hunter there as well, a Horde hunter, but he said he will let me tame first since I've been here so long. Time will tell if he does the same but I'm praying he isn't a prick like the other guy. I pray that Arcturis spawns today at a reasonable time and something like that doesn't happen again. I certainly would have said a few words to his guildmates except he was unguilded.

There's honestly no reason for that.

But then again, I got Arc stolen from me by a member of my own faction. I could tell something was up, cause he didn't start the attack till I had started taming and then melee'd the poor bear down. :\

That is REALLY REALLY lame.. I am camping Arc on my server now, been here 2 days so I gotta think someone tamed/killed him in middle of night.

He is on a 12hr timer now? does he still pop @ 15min after the hour?

I think you now know why that is the case.. People like that can't hide thier tru nature long and do not stay in good guilds long..

I just spent 4 days of camping with little to no luck and dealt with people threatening to kill him on me. Taming him is a pain, much like all the other Wrath rares. Finally at 430am server last night I was just about to log off after spending nearly the entire day (since 1 in the afternoon) camping him, he spawned and I got to go to sleep with Bookoo in my stable.

AAhh so he is 00:30 spawn now? or is it just flat timer on last kill/tame? Last I saw he spawned 00:15

I have not been 24/7 camping him I have been loggin in and waiting 5 min before teh hour until 20min after.. Bet I have missed him

That is just messed up. I routinely go out and check Arcturis's Spawn Point to kill him since I don't know of any other hunter trying to get him. Occasionally I will give an Alliance hunter a hard time and act Like I am going to try and tame him and stick around for a bit. But if someone was there camping regardless of Horde or Alliance I will not take the kill.

Often I will pull out bandit (arcturis) and show him off to give them encouragement before I fly off.

Funny you mention this, as I'm trying to get "Bear" back myself on Ysera; was at it 11 1/2hrs, each day around the 17-22hr marks about seventy hours later no luck; log on today in the afternoon & a 2nd hunt mentions a 12hr spawn time, that he saw an ally tame Arcturis at 930a pst (maybe est?), that it's 12hrs...

I find this interesting because if I recall most of the spirit beasts at least this one & Skoll are on some godly long spawn timers; 12hrs though, just seems questionable, & I doubt the guy would lie, if that's the case I'm back at this 6-9p tonight if 12hrs is exact.

After 3 days of waiting, I finally have him!
I was alt-tab here and lookin for Cata trailer. Tabbed back @ 3:07pm on Bronzebeard and there he was standing next to me in a bush. was fumbling with mouse, swapping bars,e tc trying to get away from him, drop a trap and tame..

Just tamed him not fifteen minutes ago! The hunt is finally over.

Apparently, there was a bit of confusion about yesterday's fiasco with Arcturis. On my end, it looked like I had tagged Arcturis and when I tried to tame him, he was pulled off me twice by the other hunter and then killed. His son, however, also happened to be present when I tamed him just now and the night before. He said that I had killed him while his father was taming. I'm assuming this was during the first pull off of me that the hunter had done.

This could have been true, and I have no reason to believe that it was a lie as I myself could not see over the error message that one of my addons (I'm thinking it was SilverDragon) created when I moused over Arcturis. With this new perspective on yesterday's events, it seems that I was also in the wrong. I felt remorseful about it all so I sent the other hunter a letter of apology just now along with 1000g in reimbursement. I hope that was the right thing to do.

Arcturis spawns hits my trap I have the tag, I am taming, another hunter deliberately attacks him as I'm taming, it goes to him, he starts taming, he gets the tame even though I had the tag... I'm all "Why? You know why I wanted him." He's all "Heh, GL in 12hrs..."

ARrrghhHHH!!!!!!!! So I'll be back in the hills in 12hrs for my "Bear" ^^

I don't think you owe the other hunter anything. You seemed pretty certain that you'd tagged/tamed first. Still, meh, all in the name of good hunter relations. Am glad your glowbear came home.
