Calm down guys. I'm sure no one meant any offense. And beside this thread is only about how awesome the cinematic is! ...and how hot Varian is. ...and I wonder if that ugly statue in booty bay gets its head taken off...

Having *ahem* finally gotten a chance to actually SEE the cinematic, I have to say, Blizzard managed to capture the heart of the expansion in two and a half minutes with shiny visuals and a plotline. I loved how Northrend was structured around Arthas and everything he did, but such a task would be considerably more daunting for the whole of Azeroth....but Blizzard's pulled it off. Deathwing's return really has impacted the entire world (of warcraft!) and this was captured in a relatively brief amount of screen time. I loved seeing some of the iconic Azerothian landmarks (like the statue in Booty Bay) getting rocked to the core. This is the driving force of the expansion, and the trailer captures it all perfectly. Worgen and goblins popping up are just another side effect of Deathwing's return. There are other trailers for that sort of content. This is a CINEMATIC trailer; it's supposed to sum everything up...and it did. With style.

On topic,

Just very very very very! cool. 8-)

But just to be a lore troll  wasn't his armour made by goblins? The smiths in the cinematic (0:50) looked more like dorfs or something much chunkier than a goblin?

I believe I've seen a screenshot showing it's lost its left side of the head. And it's not ugly, the statue at Janeiro's point is awesome! :D
(Well, okay, it's ugly, but I get a chuckle out of the reference every time I see it - it sums up the goblin mentality so well in my opinion!)

Yup, in Vepherial's screen shots of the area parts of teh the left side of its head and arm are missing.

But what blew me away of the cinematic was that its good or even better than some of the trailers made for disaster movies. Pirate ship being flipped by the tidal wave..rivals that of the ships being lifted by the waves in 2012 and The Perfect Storm.

I have to say, I like WotLK's cinematic much better. This IS cool...but....it's not Arthas.

Correction - I forgot what a whiney little emo bitch boy he is. Illidan is way cooler than that.

I loved the graphics, and deathwing breaking free was pretty cool, it felt...short. I guess because compared to vanilla and BC, it didnt really show the new races, and WoTLK was perfect length and lore. Add in a cinematic of the new races and the terror on the faces of the old races as thier respective areas are ripped assunder and the movie will be even more epic.

The outcome of this cinematics is just extraordinary. I personally thought all the other cinematics were awesome, and let's not forget the fact they were there before. It's like enjoying a video game (say, Super Smash Bros. for the N64, for example) when it was new and not knowing a sequel upgrade was gonna arrive. I mostly look at how they made the cinematics graphically. Realistic graphics combined with sound effects is enough to make anyone's skins crawl. I am just astounded of how soon we will be faced with another formidable end-game foe soon (even though I've haven't experimented with the other end bosses yet).

I was especially surprised of how they showed the lands of Azeroth that were going to face a huge catastrophe with this new expansion. Barrens falling apart, 1K Needles flooding (when I first saw the cinematics though, I thought Mulgore was getting flooded because of the tauren settlement up above. I had to watch it a second time to clarify), Booty Bay about to get slammed by a huge flood as what happened in many natural-disaster movies, Loch Modan's dam breaking up, and I guess the port of Teldrassil receiving gusts of flame from Deathwing's passing.

That wasn't Teldrassil, that was Auberdine about to be owned.

AWESOME video, they've done a great job with it!

Only thing I didn't like is that we didn't see any one at the locations shown. It would have been awesome to see Orcs falling from the collasping skytower in Orgrimmar. Nightelfs blown off the Auberdine docks, some Quilboar or Centaurs falling victim to the Barrens breaking open, etc etc etc

But most definately, an awesome awesome video. I want to see longer versions/more of the areas being destroyed though :D

The flooding of Thousand needles looked awesome, it was all awesome!

I suspect that the people placing his armour on are actually members of the Twilight cult. I think what we're seeing isn't when his armour was first being fixed onto him as opposed to a touch up; his new cult adding new pieces of armour as his body continues to break appart, or replacing broken bits.

Lore troll away mon! *flies off*

The more I watch this movie,t he more I fall in love with it. Deathwing jsut oozes his power, you can really see that he is an extremely powerful beast. Very threatening. I just love watching him flail about in pain and rage as he's getting all armoured up.

But the whiners have come out too, saw someone commenting on WoW Insider about how the cinematic sucks compared to the previous expansion cinematics because "there's no lore".
No lore my ass.....thats lore in the making! Plus Deathwing has been in WoW Lore for freakin ever!
Also here's a breakdown....

Vanilla Wow Cinematic - Had no lore. Just showed character classes and races
Burning Crusade Cinematic - Had a tiny bit of lore involving Illidan but overall was lore-less with another showing of classes and races
Wrath of the Lich King Cinematic - Had lore involving Arthas
Cataclysm Cinematic - The entire thing is lore-filled and lore in the making! Deathwing has been around since WoW's beginnings.
It's not a "lore-filled" clip. Not even close. It contains some lore, yes, for example theplates being attached to Deathwing, but other than that it's not really any lore. It's definitely a good clip, and I wouldn't ask for more, but you can't call it "lore-filled", because it's not.

Oh god that was AMAZING! *watches again - and again - and again*

*ahem* I personally love the fact that you can see the results of the stuff that happen in the video. Stormwind's towers have the claw marks and the Booty Bay statue has some seaweed on it, it makes the cinematic feel so much more meaningful.

To hell with what idiots on YouTube say. I've been infatuated with dragons since I first read "Dragonflight" by Anne McCaffrey back when I was like 8 years old, so having my favourite video game of all time (yes, WoW has finally beat out The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time) feature the most badass dragon I've ever seen in the most exciting expansion ever... I think I'm going to cry tears of happiness!!!

And yes, compared to Deathwing, Arthas and Illidan are complete and utter bitches.

New goal in life: become a Blizzard lore writer! (I'm majoring in English and Writing -- a girl can dream!)
Lul, reading your post was like looking in a mirror: dragon infatuation, reading Anne McCaffrey at a young age, and Zelda being my favorite franchise, especially OoT.

Good luck with the career, you have good taste  and could make some great lore.

On topic: amazing cinematic, expected nothing less. Makes me excited for blizzcon. So I guess all those earthquakes we are getting is just Deathchin fidgetting. O.o

I'd rather have him like this, else we'd end up being ants compared to him. It's rather hard to get a dragon to interact with its environment if it's too big to see the environment.

For someone that has graduated from computer graphics and is taking two classes in gaming, it's always fun for me to look out for that kinda stuff. It is always wise to look up close at the objects, characters, etc, and see how well they look. Blizz must have killer machines or something. The kind of programs that would design those cinematics and make the characters would devour up more than just an average home computer and would cost a lot to build a computer powerful enough for them. I know they would definitely devour up my computer.

Strange how the graphics ingame hasn't changed though. It is 2010, close to 2011, so with each expansion, they should make the characters look less boxy, let's say. I remember before LK was released, a few people spread the rumors the graphics were going to be digitally enhanced.
