Daw, Kalli, I'm sorry I missed this entire thing XD Or I would have offered you encouragement too!

But, I'm glad you got your Loque, and I love his name :) Neither name rung a bell at first, but as soon as you mentioned the footrace challenge I was like, "OH YEAH, I remember this story now!" It's been a while, but I used to love Greek/Roman mythology :D

Glad you were successful while circling the basin (ohohoho) and got your new/old friend back :D

Congrats!! Loque is by far my favorite spirit beast. I have all the others but they just can't seem to compare; though logically I know he's just a pile of pixels, I feel like he actually has personality. And his special roars can't be beat! When I play BM, my Aleksi is my go-to pet. :) I'm glad you finally found yours!

Theseus (King Krush) will always be my BM go-to pet. ;) But he's learning to share the spotlight, now that Hippomenes and Cerberus (the Kurken) and others will be permanently sharing the spotlight. :)

Re: Let the circling begin [Update: both my babies are home!

Pics will be coming later, but I had to update that Atalanta came back home after only six statues - and was the first ghost saber. Both other times I had to tame her (long story, don't ask), it took between 14-19 figurines and I *always* had a level 20 ghost saber spawn first before she did. (I only tamed her at level 19 myself before, so I wasn't going to leave with one of the ones that wasn't her this time either.)

This was the easiest tame I'd had for her. Ever. After the grief Orpheus and Hippomenes gave me, I'm so relieved and thankful that Atalanta knew I only did what I had to do. She will definitely be releveled to 80 tonight, after I finish rounding up my other babies.

I suppose this is still circling, so I can give a rundown on my status. :D After Atalanta came home, I grabbed Kalypso the white crab from nearby. I can't wait to get to know her for real, finally. She was one of my original PTR pets! And I've never really gotten to bond with her since Orpheus took over the crab role from her on live back in BC/early LK.

Then it was off the Azuremyst, where no one was waiting to tame the Kurken. Yes, really. I was pretty shocked. So Cerberus - the REAL Cerberus - is home. :) I grabbed Cassandra the green ravager as well. She was waiting near the waterfall, as she had been before. Looking forward to seeing how she truly meshes with me too. It's hard to tell on the PTR! It's just a waiting room, y'know?

My next stop was Winterspring for Bellerophon. As I had trouble finding Brumeran on the PTR twice before, so did I this time as well, since I missed her actual spawn place my first time through. But I had a good idea of where she'd be, so I caught her without issue as I headed back north. I had a good time hanging out with this guy on the PTR before the whole LOLCHIMERAS phase hit.

I accidentally chose to deviate from my original taming plan, so I'm quickly relogging to reset my flight paths before it's too late. More later! :)

I'm back on course after accidentally sending myself to Desolace instead of the Barrens. Managed to reroute at Darkshore, so no harm, no foul. :) I needed to do Desolace last so I didn't have to climb my butt out of the Mara area.

So! Hello Horde territory! I love that I had to cut through so much dangerous territory to get one particular pink raptor! Psyche is worth it, though. :) She was an accidental tame when my impromptu Humar tame (I HAD TO!) on the PTR ate the face off of Takk. I ended up taming some different color raptors (starting with her) to see how they fit. It was really just formality, though. I could tell that she was the pink one. So, thank you, Humar, for getting me to tame the correct raptor! Takk was wisely not present when I drove by to grab Psyche for real. Neither were any Horde. WHERE IS EVERYBODY? I haven't seen hide nor hair of any other players throughout this adventure.

As I flew off to Dustwallow to grab the new Medusa (the original had been an Outland green wind serpent, not a vanilla one), my mind traveled to Thousand Needles and the purple hyenas. If Praline hadn't bonded to Kallimon, then I would still be tempted to get one for Kalliope, as one of them had been a PTR pet for her. But Kallimon will not be denied Praline. I shall retame Snort for him after I'm done combing the world for Kalliope. Medusa was right where I'd expected her to be, just outside of Theramore.

Tanaris was next on my list. Kallisto, my hyena, had chosen for herself a new orange form. This had all been settled on the PTR; she was fine with no longer being purple. But my heart broke upon reaching her spawn point outside the Caverns of Time. A basilisk had spawned in her location instead of her. There was another hyena nearby, but I knew it wasn't her. I dispatched the basilisk, then rode off to check on the silithid areas as promised while waiting for her to respawn. The beetles and wasps there have not been made beasts yet, so that was a bust. I circled the Noxious Lair twice for Soriid, who was shockingly not up. Ariadne is waiting for her brainbug status before coming home, it looks like. That was a huge relief, as I was not looking forward to running around taming placeholder pets for all my babies who I can't tame until Cata. Which I would have done, had they decided on it, but they didn't. Upon returning to the Caverns of Time, I saw Kallisto waiting patiently for me.

I realized after departing from Gadget for Desolace that flying out from there is what caused my PTR client to lock up and die. But this time, I had finished the download, so there were absolutely no issues. The water was GORGEOUS. If you get the chance to fly out from Gadget to the north, you should do so. Sorry, no screenshots, as things were KIND OF DUMB irl while I was flying. Scylla was waiting for me at the entrance to the purple side of Mara. Still haven't seen anyone else player-wise. Weird.

Off to Outland! :D Zangarmarsh was an easy hit: Castor (green nether ray) and Pollux (blue spore bat) were still hanging out together north of the Lagoon and Persephone (green firefly) wasn't too far from Telredor. Around this time, I realized "HEY, my dragonhawk is 310% speed!" Badass. :) I then zipped off to Terokkar to rescue Penelope (purple tallstrider) from that floating rock.

I am now set until Cataclysm, unless a random pet grows on me, or a need develops. :) Now to go fix my addons and play with my pets.

Your story was so fun to read!!! I'm glad you managed to round up your pets finally. But be careful, those surprise tames can really sneak up on you. A simple "Eh, I think I'll try out a ghost jormungar," turned into a screenshot party of my huntress and her new doofy friend Mortimer. It all happened so fast!!!

Grats again!!! (Wish me luck on finding my last three: Shikon [Gondria], Sheldon [Ironback], and Celeborn [Hayoc]) :D

Good luck, Rhy! :D

I totally didn't get to post about Kallimon's taming adventures with Teigan, Korii, and Japhinie due to the forums going down, sadly. To make a long, silly story short, we trekked up to the draenei and night elf starting areas and I brought home some new babies I wasn't expecting to tame. xD If you're interested in details, read on!

First, I retamed Praline (Snort the Heckler, purple hyena), who was very happy to come home. Then I went to stable her so I could meet up with the others. But Jambalaya, my yellow lion, my Savannah Highmane, gave me pause. He gazed at me from the stable with those biiiiig kitty eyes and begged me to check for Dishu. I couldn't turn him down, especially not when he did that. So I looked for her and found her a bit north of the Crossroads. As she slipped to my side, I felt the tug of bonding. Jambalaya had chosen his mate. No green kitty for me in Cataclysm. She later took the name of Saffron, thusly completing the connection.

I caught up with the trio in Ashenvale and we set off to Darkshore. Details are getting fuzzy on me now, but kitties and crabs were tamed, including my blue Ravigote and Korii's kitty who was Shadowclaw. Then it was off to Azuremyst and Bloodmyst, where the Kurken and a cute little bronze crab were tamed, along with some very pretty blue moths and a level 17 draenei warrior. Stardust, Kallimon's first-ever pet, came home. :) The party then shifted to Teldrassil by way of Darnassus, where a feral druid took a couple of us out before he was brought down. We also managed to take out a lowbie priest in the fray. Score one for us! Spiders and more kitties were tamed (and owls were avoided!). I originally went for my favorite green spider (the first pet I'd ever tamed), but then felt compelled to tame the grey lady spider in the north part of the zone for Doberge. He's a good lookin' boy with blue eyes....lots of blue eyes. :) We took the, uh, scenic route out of Teldrassil via the long long drop in the north, then waterwalked around to the boat to stop off in Darkshore again for another kitty who'd gotten missed. The group kinda broke up at that point, as Korii went to bed.

I ran around on my own for a while, retaming Remoulade the brown scorpid who lives just north of Sen'jin Village, and picking up some new babies: Evangeline the yellow firefly and Pacane the orange raptor (formerly Dart). Then I went after Beignet, the white devilsaur who had stalked me on multiple characters in Un'goro until I agreed to tame her. She was the pet I brought with me when I went to tame DaBeast. I had seen her dozens of times; I figured this would be easy. Except...she wasn't there. I did find two red devilsaurs, one of whom Japh came and tamed. A black devilsaur appeared, then another red. Still no Beignet. Then Japh found her near the silithid area. :) And thus ended a long, exciting night of impromptu taming.

I've been leveling Kalliope's babies pretty quickly; got seven pets to go. :) I miss Orpheus and Hector terribly; they were lost due to the stable glitch and my ticket still sits unanswered. Hopefully they'll be allowed home sooner than later. Of all the pets who had to disappear, it had to be the two I've seen the most throughout this expansion. Sigh. :/

Re: Circling, always circling [Kalli's pseudo-pet blog threa

Oh man...me and empty stable slots are such a bad combination. It's a good thing that I already knew I had a few slots left open.

I got wanderlust and set out to see if any of the Northrend rares were up. Just to visit, really. I dropped by to visit Arcturis, who wasn't there, but a dwarf hunter was (good luck, good sir!). Grocklar spawned, then gave me a merry chase as he disappeared and respawned at a different location. I made sure to kill him on behalf of the camping dwarf.

I then turned north to Zul'Drak, flying by a couple of Gondria spawns and all of the Terror Spinner locations. I know a guy looking for TS, but I didn't see him on. Not sure why I felt like looking, but it was a moot point anyway, since TS wasn't up.

I flew further north into Storm Peaks, passing through Skoll's spawns, but there was no lightning puppy. There was also no TLPD, Vyragosa, or Dirkee, from what I saw, but I wasn't looking too carefully. My travels then took me to the area north of Dun Niffelem where the romping rhinos play. I tend to visit them every once in a while, cause I've always liked them. Their names and movement patterns are just precious! I've even tamed one before, on the PTR. Not for any real reason; just to get the tame out of my system.

As you've probably guessed by now, it was NOT out of my system.

I settled next to a group of them romping by. The lead rhino loaded before the rest of his...herd? pack?...so he was my focal point for a bit. But then I saw a lone rhino scampering by in the other direction. And so help me, I was instantly hooked. I was in such a daze to tame this adorable little creature that I fumbled dismissing Orpheus, who was my active pet at the time, then fumbled again swapping to BM spec. Given, it could have been the late hour, but my gut tells me that this rhino just plain won me over THAT completely. I even marked the lil' nipper to make sure I got the right one when I finished fumbling through my spellbook for tame beast. I became even further smitten once I saw the incredible range on horn toss put to good use on a mammoth.

Now the main reason I didn't settle on a rhino for Kalliope before is that I never had a good name for one. Until I tamed this lil' guy, I still didn't. But I just realized I've had a name floating around for a while that I didn't have a pet attached to. It's perfect. So yeah, Orion is definitely a keeper. :)

(I swear, I'll get pics up eventually.)

All right, all right, I made an exception.

After a less than thrilling night in battlegrounds, I realized my damage is UTTER crap compared to other classes in PvP...in either spec. Something is definitely broken. Sigh. Anyway, the testing and spec swapping meant that Orpheus and Orion both got outings, which was good. Looking at BM seriously, though, I realized that I wasn't going to be able to wait for the brainbugs to come in to get a silithid.

This of course meant trekking out to Tanaris to check if Soriid was up. He wasn't the last time I'd checked, which was highly unusual, and why I hadn't run around taming temporary pets before Cataclysm. I had taken it as a sign....and it was, since I intended to make only ONE exception.

Soriid and I had been eyeing each other for months, due to the brainbug excitement. I fell for him hard when he was turned into a brainbug and I never got over it, even after that form was taken from him. I'd gone and visited him a lot and we had built a strong bond between us. When it came to the PTR, I tamed him for my Ariadne, as I had planned to do before the brainbug form was stripped from him. But as with Orion, the PTR taming did not quell the need to tame. I had repressed this urge more successfully than the rhino one, since I have never been a fan of the silithid hopping. (More power to those who are, but I am not one of them.) What it came down to was this: Ariadne will ALWAYS have Soriid in her heart, even when she does take on Ainamiss's form. Orpheus melded with Chatter like this too. It's one of the reasons he stopped changing forms. Kallimon's Praline bonded with Snort the Heckler. Hector never bonded with OCJ for some reason, though I could never really see him as another color. Soriid and Ariadne's bond is different, since her intended look is no longer shared with his. But somehow, it works. One of these days, I'll work out a post on pet personalities, since I have some stubborn pets and some flexible ones.

The actual tame was fairly uneventful, all things considered. Soriid was up, I got lost in the hive trying to find him (again), I got unlost, and he came home. Ariadne was finally born on live. It was a rather subdued homecoming for her, an anticlimax after all of those months of visiting and bonding. I am glad that she and Soriid have connected in this way; they taught me that this special bonding process will need to be done for certain pets. Maquechoux, Kallimon's Haarka, will need to be retamed in that form before becoming Harakiss. Arachne, Kalliope's original green spider from Teldrassil (who only ever was tamed officially on the PTR), will have to come home for real before becoming Jadefang. These aren't filler pets at all. This is who they are underneath the skin.

Well, tonight was certainly unexpected.

My hunter buddy told me that King Mosh was up. I went to go visit by way of Sholazar. As I ported in, I had this feeling that King Krush would be up. Sometimes I get these feelings... I looked down. I was not surprised to see him, since I knew he'd be up at the Pillar. I checked quickly with the other guild hunters to see if they wanted to tame him, but they didn't.

I had already known where this was going, but I didn't want to admit it, since I really have issues with taming pets just to abandon them. But it was a sign that both kings were up.

Yep, I needed to tame Krush again. I needed to prove to myself that I was worthy of being Theseus's mom. I had had so much help with his tame that in my heart of hearts, I didn't feel worthy. So I flew off to the camp to stable someone, then flew off to the north to grab a temporary bird. I stood in the same place I did a couple of years ago to tame Theseus and send in the roc....and waited....and waited....and he FINALLY feared the poor thing. I abandoned the bird and tamed Krushie again without incident. One shot. :) I *knew* I could do it, but actually having done it, I feel better. I feel so much closer to both Krush and Theseus now. :D

I continued off to UG to go visit Mosh. After a ton of searching, I finally located him near the hot springs. That was when I decided to go whole hog and tame both of them. This meant a long ride back to the flight master, hopping over to Silithus, wasting several minutes finding the friggin' stable master (should have gone to Gadget), flying back, and then riding back to Moshie. I saw a few lowbies in the area, so I was getting a bit worried that he wouldn't still be alive when I got there. But he was, and I tamed him. :) No issues with that tame either. I was pretty surprised they appeared to be about the same size. I guess that makes them both King size. *groans at her own horrific pun* I'd say King Dred is about the same size as well, having tanked him before. They all seem so friggin' massive when they're beating on you.

You would think that would have been it, but it wasn't. I logged back over to Nesingwary, since I'd only meant to log to Kalliope for a couple of minutes (heh, oops), and Fworbin let me know Azzere was up. I was pretty stunned; I had never seen her in the wild before and with her on the extinct pets list, I wanted to save her. This meant dusting off Yoninah and getting her skills and such. As I (so, SO slowly) went through all the prep work involved, things started to make sense. I've always liked the red wind serpent skin, but never had a hunter or name for one. I opted for Yoninah over Babykalli for some reason...it just felt right. As I arrived on the scene, the right name popped into my head: Scarlet. It was a good thing I'd settled on Yoninah instead of Babykalli; Azzere's 5 levels too high for the latter. So Scarlet settled in by Nina's side, capping off the crazy night of taming.
