Kirra's Amazing Beta Adventures!

Unread post by Kirrandria »

About my hunters and the many pets I've tamed. Mostly the pets. I don't know if it's in the right section ( while it's mostly all about the pets, I have a good bit of other story in there too ), so if it's not, feel free to move it to the right place. I realize all of this is old news ( except for one thing! I think ), but I wanted to give you my spin on it all. It's a lot of text... I might just bold my key points or something.

It all started last night when I decided to play my premade hunter for the first time, a blood elf I call Tandrys. She started off with a bat, and while it was cute I immediately decided to abandon it.. I'm not a large fan of the bat model. After running around, trying to figure out how to get to Dalaran, I somehow made it to Orgrimmar where I found these adorable boars. They come in three or four colors ( I know for a fact they come in striped yellow, reddish, and white. They -might- come in black, but I saw it so long ago and I think it might just be a different pig ) and look like they would make wonderful color changers. The problem is they are, as of right now, untameable. ( On my low level Tauren hunter I also discovered a gray-blue raptor in the area that is tameable, which possibly makes it the lowest levelled 'Takk' skin avaliable? )

From Org, I took a zepplin to Northrend, and suddenly realized I didn't have coldweather flying ( oddly enough, your premades, or at least mine, start off with NO riding skills. However, for some reason or another, you have a land mount you can ride, and a flying one, so you don't need to get regular/epic ground and flying, but you do need Azerothian flying and coldweather ). I had just previously spent my 5000 gold on flying in azeroth and the 310% speed, So I was broke with only 12 gold. I decided to run around and look for spirit beasts, none of which I found, so I can't test spirit heal, but I did tame myself a Cursed Offspring of... whatshername.

Once I had my evil cat, I hopped on the local wyvern and flew up to Dalaran, where I remembered portals are gone. To get back to Azeroth, I took the portal to Caverns of Time ( Hello again, rarespawn Occulus, this is the third time I've seen you... ), swung over to the silithid areas, where once again I was greeted by empty land, and certainly no brainbugs. I beast lored a few of the serpents ( the python ones ), and while still not tameable, they all have diets (please Blizz, please add them to the serpent family. And the ones in shadowmoon? I want them to keep their glow, they would fit my troll on live -so well- ). The 'ant' Silithid there also have diets, but are untameable.

Then I was off to Uldum. I didn't find any of the other serpents, and purple crocs are -still- untameable ( oddly enough, I was tracking beasts and one popped up on my minimap. I felw over to where it was... and it mysteriously vanished, to be replaced by a 'Neferest Scalehunter' or something like that... no wonder you can't tame 'em, they're being hunted for their pretty purple scales! D: ). I found myself a temple scarab, which is tameable, and is a color changing beetle ( green, blue, light blue, and red. ), and I love him -so much-. The problem is, it doesn't fit my hunter on live at all ( I roleplay on her, and I can't see her runnnig around with a bright blue beetle ). I might need to make another hunter to rememdy this... Then I tamed a tiger to match my other evil cat, and flew around with it. I found a few wild camels, armadillos, and orange/brown buzzard ( an old skin ), all of which were untameable. The interesting thing I did find was an eel, one using the new Vash'jir model. It was untameable, but it did have a diet of meat and fish ( Please, let this be a sign you're making mana wyrms tameable, blizz. Particularly the Northrend ones! )

Alot of Silithid there aren't classed as beasts, so I was saddened. Same deal in Ungoro and Feralas. It sucks, because there is this beautiful yellowy gold beetle that is untameable. I did mamage to find and tame Quirot, the white silithid wasp, as well as find the biggest Silithid I've ever seen. It's the red/purple gorger model, elite, and currently not classed as a beast, but the thing is -HUGE-. It's seriously bigger than the room it resides in, and it looks terrifying.

After looking at all the bugs, I spent some time in Thousand Needles. There I found the parrots, serpents, scorpids, and seagulls everyone's been talking about. I do recall, though, someone saying the crimson serpent was much harder to find than the olive ones, and perhaps a 'rare spawn' of them? I didn't find this to be true, as I saw an equal amount of olive and crimson serpents. Or I must've just gotten really lucky. I saw a poor little scorpid all by itself on a cliff opposite of its bretheren, so I tamed it and took it over to its kind, where I let it go ( I'm strange, I know... ).

After Needles, I went all the way to Darkshore to tame a ghost saber. They still exist, but they're rather hard to find. Searching the area for ten minutes I only found one statue. It also will be hard for Alliance to tame and relatively easy for Horde ( low levelled, anyway ), as the area is almost covered in Horde-friendly trolls ( which I assume means they're Alliance-agressive ). After taming it, I met up with a worgen hunter, whom I proceeded to dance with and show off my pets to ( they seemed to love my tiger and beetle. My beetle was big enough it could have eaten his mastiff alive... ). Then he logged over to his goblin, and we started to chat about hunter things.

I went down to Ashenvale after that, and after finding the ghostpaw runners, tried everything I could to tame a ghost wolf without any luck ( Blizz! If you're reading this, take a moment to hear this hunter's plea. Make ghost wolves tameable again! When they first were discovered, you said you would let us continue to tame them, a promise you broke when you took the ability out in a secret sneak patch. You said your reason, aside from the obvious 'it was never meant to be tameable in the first place', was because it was ghostly and didn't fit hunter lore. But you still let us tame ghost sabers, ghost worms, crystal spiders and emerald owls. When Wotlk came out, you gave us spirit beasts, two of which are 'ghostly', and one of which is -the mate of a goddess-. There are other spirits and legendary beasts we tame in game as well. Echeyakee, the quest-summoned windserpent in thousand needles, and even silithid aren't normal creatures... they're sentient beings, for crying out loud! While it may have made sense long ago, being 'ghostly' isn't a very solid reason anymore. Make them tameable! )

Erm, rant there aside, after that I flew up to Winterspring to tame the riding tigers ( because I'm going for an all cat theme... aside from my beetle. And quirot.... ), but grew tired before reaching my destination and decided to log for the night. I thank anyone who even so much as looked at my main points, and to anyone who read the whole thing... <333

The most interesting thing I found? The Uldum tigers. Amazingly, they -bark- when you send them into battle. Yes, they -bark-, like wolves. All their other sounds are cat sounds, but when rushing into battle they show their true colors... they're dogs. Cat says woof.

Lol, barking tigers? Sounds interesting!

I read the whole thing <3, it was very well-written. Thanks for sharing!!! You are in good company here, we all love our pets and exploring, perhaps even exploring our pets...but not petting our explorers. O.o

Haha, thank you both ^_^ I just found out some more interesting information. Apparently, it's not just Uldum tigers. ALL cats bark when sent into battle.... weird.

Obviously, this is a bug, but it sure is funny to watch your great cat charge into battle, snarling like a wolf.

You know why they're doing it? The Roar of Courage buff was cloned from Furious Howl. :)

I absolutely cannot wait to send my Kriv (Rak'shiri) into battle and listen to him bark at me as he dashes off.. *gigglesnort*

I would imagine Blizz may put in a new sound effect for that eventually, but I sure hope before then I get to experience it! Thank you for sharing your fantastic travels!

I would definitely agree on the rant haha :D I am excited about taming Quirot just because I love all the silithids and wasps, put them together in a rare mob, boom perfect recipe for my hunter's taste :)

I haven't gotten the privilege of playing on the beta so I'd like to know if some of the mobs in kalimdor and eastern kingdoms won't be there when the world gets destroyed. have you guys checked? like for instance, Uhk'loc is a rare gorilla mob in un'goro crater in a cave. has the cave collapsed and if so, is he gone or relocated?

happy hunting to all of you! :)
