New Pet in ICC? [Untamable =( ]

For those hunters raiding ICC, did you notice the hawks in the frostwing halls?



Beast lore says that are tamable, however, they are labeled as pets of an NPC, which I know some of those types of beasts cannot be tamed even if beast lore says so.

I would try to tame one myself, but my stable is full. Anyone else that could try?

You won't survive the tame, it hits for 7k, as shown by Beast Lore.

They are in the beginning of the frostwing hall.

I didn't get a chance to check if the warhawks could be stunned, slept, frozen, etc. My guild just aoes everything down. =P Sure they can hit for 7k but if they can be CCed it would be doable.

EDIT: Never mind, I see the tiny picture. It's exactly like the birds in Borean Tundra/Howling Fjord, though.

you can see what it looks like
its just the brown druid birds...if it was the undead eagles that the ymrjar from central icecrown use then id be interested

Regardless of it being an already existing skin, it's definitely good to know if it's a new tameable mob so that Mania can add it to the site.

and u can tame them if u have a healer that doesnt Burst heal u..... that how i had The Beast tamed in BRS (Black Rock Spire)

And I'm going to wager that to heal through 7k hits, you're going to need heals bombed on you. >_<

I'm not raiding right now so I wouldn't know, but I can't tell from the picture whether that is a new skin or just a new tameable already-existing model. If it's an existing skin, then meh. But it would be interesting if it's a new skin! Something to tame at 85 perhaps? lol

It's not a new skin, it's the brown druid hawk model, so it's not terribly exciting, but just another to add to the list of tameable mobs.

Ahhh, gotcha. Even if it is technically tameable, is it feasibly tameable? Haha...

Since I can't slow down my raids with pet stuff (plus I have no room anyway), I'll just try to trap one to see if they can be.

I wasn't expecting to have news on this until Monday, when my 10m runs, but we actually went through the Dreamwalker trash in my 25.

It turns out that if your raid can down Saurfang, you can get to these birds! There's two in the very first trash pack and two in the last before the mini-boss valkyr at the end of the hallway. So after you get through the Frogger-like hallway and possibly downing the two valkyr patrols in the main room, you can hang a right to get to the correct wing.

I checked beast lore; they are definitely still listed as tamable.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to drop a trap to see if they can be iced because the pull is a MASSIVE clusterfuck (pardon my French). However, the birds are more easily accessible than I had thought (I thought they were only in the last pack), so it should be easier for a hunter with an open stable slot to experiment.

I ran my 10 man today, and some news:

THESE BIRDS ARE IN THE 25 MAN VERSION OF ICC ONLY!

The Ymirjar Huntresses in 10 man don't seem to have pets, probably just to lower the amount of trash for fewer players. So, this is why some ICC raiders haven't seen these guys, if you only do 10 man.

Ya, I know these guys aren't a unique skin or anything, but it would be nice to add to the site if they can be tamed or not.

Aha! Thank you, Wassa; I knew I wasn't crazy for not having seen them before. xD Kicking myself for not realizing this based on the health pool.

So yeah, if anyone tries to do this, I'd suggest pulling one from the first pack with distracting shot off to a side, outside the wing's doorway. The trash there is a bit of a gauntlet, so if anything's attempted, it would have to be done quickly and with the cooperation of the raid, so a tank would know to taunt the bird back if it's not trappable or a druid could try to hibernate it. But yeah, since the rest of the trash pulls itself, there isn't a whole lot of room for error. You'd get a second chance in the final pack, but that's right before the mini-boss, so it's pretty tight.
