It's a bit rough, but I'll take it!!!

I'd be totally interested to see the wolf coats. That is, if you don't have anything else more important to do? I know you're a busy guy. :)

It took me a few days to get screenshots, sorry, but here are the rough wolf skins I datamined from the patch files.

They were all lumped in "Wolf", which is the coyote model, but some of the skin names sound more like they should be for worgs or sabre worgs. But when applied to *any* of the wolf models, there are graphical problems in that the ruffs of fur that stick out don't get the new skin colour and the worg canines aren't coloured. They could well be just test coats on the way to developing new ones. Luckily I could turn off those effects, though that leaves a very short-coated wolf with missing teeth. Since this is just to give you an idea of the colours, I have modelled them all on the coyote wolf model. Some of them look quite similar to other skins, but I haven't noticed any that are actually identical, but I could be wrong. The skin names are the same as the file names:

Is there an alpha part to those skins?

Wolf and dire wolf skins are made of two parts, the normal .blp file such as WolfSkinArctic.BLP and an "alpha" .blp such as WolfSkinArcticAlpha.BLP. You just have the normal part of the skin on those models, making them seem sleek, missing their ruffles. The alpha part of the skin gives wolfs their fuzziness.

Looking at the eyes all of those skins are supposed to be direwolf skins, not wolf skins. While wolf and direwolf skins can be interchanged they do have different eyes which work better with the model they are supposed to be for.

Thanks Wassa, no there's no alpha part. Even in Dire Wolf form they looked a bit wrong.. they were missing colour on their canines as well (perhaps that's also in the alpha file?) I presume they're not finished, and in the end I just decided to map them all onto the same model to give an idea of the colours. I really like the dark/burnt yellow one. The "fire" one would look great with a pink-haired gnome hunter, if they were allowed to exist ;)

Wow, those are all beautiful! I'd have to say I like the darker colors the best, like the black one and dark red. But they're all very pretty. Some of them (especially the light greyish-blue) almost look like the fox colors.

Added two colour-changers I missed:

- WoolyRhino_Blue: tameable as Shardhorn Rhino, but it's a colour-changer
- Raptor_OutlandBlue: tameable as Drakuru Raptor, but it's a colour-changer

That's actually not the blue rhino: it's the grey one. I just noticed this today; the URLs of the pages are backwards. WoolyRhino_Shale is the one that's only available as a color-changer.

Are you sure? Wowhead matches what Petopia has. While the skin names refer to the fur, Mania has given them English names that match the face and leg skin. That's where it gets confusing.

woolyrhino_slate has grey fur but a blue face (so Mania calls it a blue rhino), such as Wooly Rhino Bull in Borean Tundra. So that one is definitely tameable elsewhere.
woolyrhino_blue has blue fur but a grey face (so Mania calls it a grey rhino). I'm gonna have to go check on that one again!

I went to check them up and I believe Mania has it right. The skin names and pictures on Petopia do match the beasts listed. The grey version of the Shardhorn Rhino is definitely woolyrhino_blue (bluish fur with grey skin). Mania calls it a "Grey Rhino" though, which probably causes confusion.

There's another woolyrhino_blue mob listed on Petopia... the Drakkari Rhino in Gundrak. I'm just going to head there and test if it's tameable. Wowhead says nothing about its tameability.

UPDATE: nope, the Drakkai Rhinos aren't tameable, so the Shardhorn is the only one with that skin :(

Mania does have it right! The only thing that's flipped on Petopia are the actual names of the pages. Although...argh. I was looking at both as grey rhinos whose colors were determined by the colors of their face.

I shall check WMV.

Except it's runtiming.

Well bah.

Regardless of which color is which, yes, the shardhorns are the only ones with the color. I'm just contesting which rhino color is which.

And yes, the Drakkari Rhinos are sadly untameable, which is why I've been looking at rhino skins over the past couple of days to begin with. :(

These are the ones in LBRS, correct? If so, YAY! I checked on them a month or so ago and they weren't tameable. Glad they've been flagged now, too! *happy jig*

Come ooooon, Duskfang! Make this hunter happy! :D

Yup, those are the ones :) Most of those scarabs in old dungeons only seem to have been changed in the patch before this one.

Added:
Scorpids
Any of the new "Horde mount"-style model. Unarmoured versions appear in the database:
- HordeScorpion: brown, orange eyes, green sting tip (WMV)
- HordeScorpionBlack: black with rusty-brown tones, yellow eyes, purple sting tip (WMV)
- HordeScorpionBlue: dark blue, aqua eyes, purple sting tip (WMV)
- HordeScorpionGreen: green, orange eyes, purple sting tip (WMV)
- HordeScorpionRed: maroon, purple eyes, teal sting tip (WMV)

It's possible they'll make one or more into actual tameables, as they did with the Alliance lion mount.
