Mages, have you named your water elemental yet?

Unread post by Sorcha Ravenlock »

I know it's nothing to do with hunters, but it's pet related :D

I found this on the EU Mage forums:
According to the US mage forums you can now rename your water elemental (No one knows if this is intended or not) By the simple command of /run PetRename("NAME HERE")
It works like this:
Let's say you want it to be named BlueberryPie, then you write it exactly like this:

/run PetRename("BlueberryPie")
link

I named mine Splooshy, did anyone else try and named theirs?

I'm assuming it's a bug, and I'm not sure if it will stay named but it's fun for now. ;)

I'll go try it now, but I seriously doubt it. Water Elementals have just recently been made actual "pets", even though they were before with the glyph. Warlock pets have always been pets, and therefore this would probably have been discovered.

Does not work. Tried it with every one of my demons. D:

I just tried it on a new warlock, but got a message "this pet cannot be renamed".

So guess it's a Water Elemental-only trick.

Ooh, how odd I just found out about this yesterday myself when I was in a BG with a Mage who had named their elemental. Not being overly familiar with Mages I was curious about it and decided to see if that was a usual thing (the ability to name the elemental). Then I found that macro and told some guildies. I'm really excited for my Mage in Cataclysm now to be able to do that. x)

Welp gonna tell my mother this and see what she'll call her elemental :D
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

*pets Misty* I hope Blizz lets mages keep this; water elementals are the only actual pets without a given name now. It's fun! :D

Yes, I hope we get to keep the name too :) I've been calling mine Mister Splooshy since I got him, it's nice to now be able to show his name properly.

Heh heh, aye.

Do note though, that it appears to only work once. No way of renaming them, so be sure on what ya want.

Rats. I hoped it worked on demons, I wanted to properly renamed my felguard to Maxwell. Oh well. I'll just stick to introducing and referring to him a such. People will catch on. *hugs Maxwell.*

If this sticks around I'm definitely going to name my Goblin Mage's elemental 'Puddles'. :D

My mage alt always had a macro that when I summoned my water elemental she said "Go Bubbles!" Now I can actually name it Bubbles!

My mage alt is Fire specced, so unless they introduce a pet for them, this isn't going to work for me.

However, my boyfriend's main is a Frost Mage, and he's had a name for his Elemental pretty much since he got it.

He is no hurrying out to get his laptop out of the car ;)

By the way, not to derail a thread, but Cerah...You need Suki! And Mai! And Azula! :D

I <3 the series. The movie made me very upset.
