When the new holiday rolled around I went to try out the new bosses. As a beastmaster spec I didnt think about my pet and the AoE, my cat has ignored raid boss aoe damage but he died over and over again. Finally i swapped to my bear and I swear it was an even shorter lifespan with petmend already ticking.
Huh, says I, my pet must not be benifiting from my potion is all.
Then I went to Gundrak, and Halls of Lighting, etc, and the story is always the same. My pet isnt reducing any aoe damage as near as I can tell. Has anyone else had similar experiences? is this an accidental or deliberate nerf?

I knew about the Holiday Bosses, but I don't think I've run any instances since then that had AoE. I guess we'll need to hear more confirmation to be sure.

The new bosses are rather nasty for pets. My pets normally die on the last boss in GD if i dont pull em out of a WW but it was always like that.
Perhaps those effects arnt being counted as AOE.

I haven't done any other AOE boss fights recently (RL so busy...), but if pets are getting hit by everything.... Very bad.

I'll report back as soon as my raid hits Festergut or Marrowgar...but that will be tomorrow at the earliest, I'm afraid.

Well, we just got done with the first of our two nights of Icecrown...and it looks like Avoidance is behaving exactly as it should. The only times Clayburn died to anything like AoE was when Festergut hit his enrage timer and asploded on us...and that killed everyone, not just my pet.

It's supposed to have been fixed 2 days ago, though I have yet to do the holiday boss fight since before the hotfix.

Those perfume and cologne puddles on the floor where rather nasty for all types of pets, not just hunter's. Even vanity pets where dying!In the Apothecary Frye encounter, area of effect damage has been reduced against pets.
