Re: Open Q&A at blizzcon
Yeah, I do think some sort of question screening might be beneficial to these panels. At the same time I realize that would be clunky and hard to do amidst the preparation beforehand. Still, it's sad that there's absolutely no guarantee stupid questions won't be asked, and that really good ones might get skipped for potential repetitions and such. Perhaps instead of taking live questions they could sort through FAQs or ones sent in that were selected prior to the panel that they would answer in that way.

Re: Open Q&A at blizzcon
The problem with that system, Veph, is that it's basically no different than what they can do at other times. They want to do something different for Blizzcon and have the Q&A be truly live, even if it means risking dumb questions.
Mind you, your idea is good; it's just that they want something different.

Mm hmm, I agree. In the end there isn't much they can do really.

"You must be THIS knowledgeable to attend Blizzcon!"
Somehow, I doubt that would go over well...

I paid my $40... I thought it was pretty lame too, to be honest. I watched last year and was really excited and thought it was worth the money. This year... it kinda seemed like I paid for their rehash of last year's stuff. I mean we even got the trailer for free a week before hand. That wasn't even 'reveled' at blizzcon.
Nothing really "NEW" was offered at all. Well the Worgen cut scene, but still that's like 40 seconds of in game cut scene.
They did have things they could have shown us. Heck they could have shown the new Druid Boom kin for Worgen and trolls. Their new flight forms too.
They could have done alot more than they 'did'. They COULD have given us a teaser on the next gen MMO. If it's done enough so they're playing it "In house" like they said. They have enough to tell us what it's about. They could have given more of a firm release for Diablo or the next part of SC II other than "Probably not before next blizzcon" Which means Next blizzcon might have an announcement of when those games MIGHT come out.
and.... the band this year... I'm not sure how much of it was "You're not topping Ozzy easily" and how much of it was "The band they got this year kinda sucked" but I was really let down. The coolest part of the band this year, was that for some unknown Reason the lead of Foo Fighters sat in on drums. lol I was actually bored during the closing ceremonies. L80ETC is a better band than that one, and THEY didn't even play.
So... $40.... a bit of an overkill this year. Even with my wife getting Deathy, I think it was worth about $20. I get that they do it "for the fans' but.. if I'd paid full ticket price and WENT. I'd be mad. The goody bag those that went there and got even sucked.
I bought last years and got my moneys' worth. This year.. very much not. I'm going to think long and hard before I buy next years. Or just read the information on Wowinsider and MMO. There has to be that "hook" that makes you want to watch and know the stuff FIRST... this year. I literly could have waited 2 hours and gotten everything on MMO and Wowinsider and not feel like I'd 'missed' anything.
As a side note.. yes. The "Hunters" that got up and asked questions had me groaning and telling them to sit down on my screen, they were making us look bad. Even the Developers wanted to call that one kid a "huntard".
I like Tenacious D but i guess its up to a taste in music and such and its the first time i got to see blizzcon (gift from my boy friend cause i like pets) i honestly think it seemed okay ofc there could be more exiting things to do but they cant have ubber news every time so id give em a little slack but then again im a first timer at it.

Come to think of it the ONLY thing that has annoyed me thus far (Nearly done watching Friday, I'm watching all but the arena stuff) was the "comedian" for the Costume/Dance contest. He's trying so hard to be funny I was grateful I could fast forward him and shut him up.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Yeah. Though he didn't break it, he just dislocated it.
My GM was like "They didnt have a medical team to help him?!" and I just said "Nope.....they just grabbed him and pulled him off stage...."

Re: Open Q&A at blizzcon
They had a medical team, but not like an EMS. They carried him to the medical (( booth? Section?)) and had him checked out there. Then he went to the ER later. Not sure what people were really expecting. Them to stop the contest with 20,000 people there waiting and over 100,000 on payperview and online watching? They carried him off stage and took him to the med area.
Idiot popped a ligament. The update is on wow insider.
He's going to have to have surgery when he gets home. And will forever be known as "That idiot white kid that messed up his own leg jumping around the stage at blizzcon"
No sympathy what so ever. lol

Re: Open Q&A at blizzcon
Not trying to be mean, but.... why? He was a teen/early 20s age kid that got up on stage in front of 20,000 people with little to no practice what so ever, and threw himself around like an idiot till he hurt himself.
That's pretty much the defining characteristics of public shame, isn't it? 1) Choosing to put yourself in front of the public. 2) Jumping around like an idiot. 3) Hurting yourself in the process so badly that you have to be carried off stage crying.
No one picked him out of the crowd and put a gun to his head and said 'DANCE MONKEY!! DANCE!!!'. He humiliated himself. No one's saying 'I'm glad he's hurt'. It's more 'Idiot did it to himself, That was pretty funny'.

Really, he brought it on himself. My guildie watched it and facepalmed. I asked him what he did wrong exactly and he said the guy was jumping way too high and just getting carried away, which lead to his injury.cowmuflage wrote:Still dickish to say things like that.

I'm sorry you see it that way. For me, it's a firm belief that stupidity should be painful, and that pain is an excellent teacher. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes.cowmuflage wrote:Still dickish to say things like that.
