Skoll's driving me nuts!

Unread post by Gelannerai »

So yeah, been spending an inordinate amount of time camping/circling for Skoll for the past two weeks or so. Haven't had any hint of success until the last few days, where I've seen his body at 7:15 pm server time (killed by a complete jerk no less), heard him tamed at 4:45 am server time the next morning, and then tamed right out from under me at 4:45 pm that night (though that wasn't so bad as the Hunter that got him was nice and had been putting in the same effort I had). I woke up this morning to potentially catch him at 4:45 am, but to no avail. I are cursed.

Aww. I hope it won't be too much longer, I hate how the circling begets a feeling of "oh I can't log now, what if he spawns in 5 minutes"... :| I've been looking for Loque and I'll tell myself "one round and then off to bed" - 20 minutes later, I'm still circling.

Good luck!

LOL i got him last night my 2nd time looking for him! If you aren't using them already I recommend these 2 addons, they made the search MUCH easier.

_NPCScan
and
_NPCScan.Overlay

Best of luck

Yeah, those addons are extremely helpful. Interestingly enough, I decided to re-direct a bit and search for Gondria. Logged in this afternoon at about 3:15 pm server time and found her wandering to the right of the big staircase. Easy tame, much excitement, and now I'm back on the hunt for Skoll. :D

I know that feeling at the moment Sara all too well, after 3 hours searching for Loque (after seeing a dead Aotona corpse).. nothing... He is still made at me it seems (Frostbitten)...

Don't give up on skoll :D

Okay, I caught Skoll 3 days after he went live... but that was just good timing for me...

Loque...from the time Rom was high enough level to tame him to me catching it...3 monthes... the nightmares...the nightmares...

and blasting the luck of my twin bro who got loque like 2 monthes before.... first time he saw him he died and the cat was killed before he got back... then the next day catching him :P

best bet is to check after maintenance, varying on your server time-zone, I usually see him between 19-22hrs after maintenance...if you miss him in that time frame tack on another 19-22hrs from that initial time & check again.

I've never spent too much time "camping" mobs (as in staying online for long periods in one location or flying around a route). I just leave my character at one point, log in - do one or so paths around, and if I haven't found it - log out again.

With that method I have obtained Arcturis, Skoll and Gondria. Either I've been very lucky, or it's just more efficient use of my time!

Only reason I haven't got Loque'Nahak is due to not having enough stable slots! (Will explain more post-4.0.3 if anything interesting has happened to my Noah's Ark of pets).

I have given up on camping things anymore. I have been spending most of my time on the game at the early early hours and have gotten rather lucky with rares. I actually just came back to dal from taming Skoll about 10 minutes ago, randomly went out to check and he was there.

Grats Sharpshooter. He is a lovely beast and will serve you well.

Isn't a lap-dog however.

Took me a few to name him appropriately as to my style of naming. Anguish shall serve me well.

This is what I recommend also; it has gotten me every SB. I just can't commit to sitting there for hours at a time worrying about stuff I can't control like competing hunters, griefers or people just looking to kill rares... and having a dozen+ toons it is very easy for me to find something else to do. :)

I got SO lucky taming Skoll. In fact I wasn't even looking for him (am not the type that wanders around for hours hoping for a spawn). So I was flying from Zul'Drak to Ulduar...and NPC scan triggered. I started the tame right away and the second it finishes, 2 horde hunters fly over making rude gestures :(

Oh well, got lucky I guess! Good luck on the tame!

I'm going through the same right now, Gel. In fact, I am responding while camping the "gas cap" location. Yesterday, I confirmed a hunter tamed him at the Bor's Breath spawn. I completely missed it as I have been trying to just camp this rare. It frees me up to actually afk and do other things while trying to get this guy. Though I haven't had any more info on him since.

I'm no stranger to camping for rares. I waited a week for Loque and 3 days for King Krush. I'm just filling out my stable after the patch and finishing off my SB collection. I'm taking a break with rares after Skoll!
