"...nips his/her mistress/master affectionately on their arm/hip."
"...skitters off and snatches a critter in its jaws, then prances back to his/her mistress/master and drops it at their feet."
I like both of these a lot. Might even make me tame a ravager again!
Much gratitude to Spiritbinder for the signature and Vephriel for the avatar!<3

I tried to get them to work some days before 4.0 was released, but elementals aren't a pet family. They are just nothing. I will try this again in a while and see what I can do. So yes, there is a plan.

hehe. Thanks! I just saw the emote with them prancing about proudly and just imagined that happening. XD
EDIT: Seems the Ravager has a bit of a code issue. XD He does &t instead of the actual targets name.

In the same vein as ForestTroll's post, is there a way to simply remove the family name from the emote? I'm only asking because I'm a silly creature who feels the need to have "Daranara's pet Peeve is debating how best to bug you."
No, that's the way it works, since the pet emotes are actually custom character emotes. I know that if you don't have the addon, that is the way the emotes will always appear to you. I'm thinking that you don't see it on your own pet's emotes, or on someone else's pet, if you have the addon. That may have changed with Jorna's last patch, though. I've been having addon issues and was locked out of my account for a week, though! I'll keep an eye out for it tonight.
It only shows an emote like "Fluffy barks happily" to those who have Pet Emote installed.
To regular folks who don't have the addon, it uses Blizzard's default emote system which always begins with your character. People without the addon would see "Vephriel 's wolf Fluffy barks happily." or whatever. And there's a space between your name and the 's as well.
Not only that, it only works in your main window. If you (like me) tend to play with a separate chat window open, you'll see it written out as a character emote, like you describe.

UnitCreatureFamily() returns "Water Elemental" for a mage's water elemental. I found that out the hard way when it messed up my RaidChecklist. It might have been that the mage had to have it glyphed for permanency for it to show up before 4.0.1 though.

Now they're the only class pet that's permanent that isn't assigned some sort of name.

Hmmm. I must be downloading/installing it wrong. I have the PetEmote folder in my Addons folder, like all my other working addons, and it's unzipped. Is there an alternate Mac version of the addon? Or have I missed a step? (Steps taken: 1. Download, 2. Open folder, 3. Check for (and find no) .zip folders, 4. Put in Addons folder.
Sorry, I'm a computer noob. xD
