Lol, that's hilarious. Don't mess with mama!!!

I finally broke my streak of not seeing rare spawns when I brought Tama back home! This is Shikon's sister (or rather, they were sisters when Shikon was still alive), so I'm hoping Shikon will want to come back home when she sees Tama. :3

(I know this isn't relevant to my original post , but I'm just excited to have finally seen a rare, and a re-tame to boot!. Hopefully this will all lead up to reuniting with my beloved Shikon)

Got to go re-tame my dear ghost kitty, Simon.
Practically tackled me to the ground when he saw me coming back for him, and I was happy to see him too.

(For once, I got him on the very first statue I picked up, so I'm betting he was absolutely thrilled to be back. :D)

Veph, I loved your screenshot collection. So I had to copy and do my own XD Not quite as professional looking though.

Pre-Stabled!

ZEPHIEL
Image
My only spirit beast. And the only one that Durana will ever need. Each time I look at him, I am so thankful that I managed to tame him. <3

BALAUR
Image
Balaur has stomped his way into my heart. I'm so glad I managed to pick him up with relatively little hassle. It's gonna be a hard choice between him and Zephiel as to who I'll be leveling with in Cata.

HOLLOW
Image
Gotta love the oil covered wolf. I wanted to tame him whilst he was still available, just in case blizz decided to remove his buff. But I'm ahsamed to say I'm not as attached to him as I am with my other pets.

LLIIRA
Image
Aotona makes the last of the sholazar trio, I'm still amazed I got them all. Haven't spent as much time with her as I have with the others, but she's very pretty.

OM
Image
This guy has been with me through thick and thin! We've seen Ragnaros, Hakkar, Onyxia and many other bosses, and he took them on without even blinking. And he's a big derpy turtle, what's not to love?

~

Re-tames!
I actually had a bit of a zen feeling when I was going though Azeroth and picking up all my old friends. So many memories of adentured we had, and regrets at having to let them go. I'm so glad I was given the chance to find them all again.

FALRIM
Image
Back in BC, this guy was my main raiding pet. I sadly let him go early on in wrath, I think for Loque'. I'm glad he's back where he belongs now.
Interesting side note; Durana is the only character who is able to get Sian-Rotom to spawn whenever she wants. I have tried with other characters, both alliance and horde, and have had firends try as well. Only Dura seems to be able to get him to appear. Perhaps it ws a sign that he always wanted to come back?

GORIYA
Image
I tamed Mist Howler as a spur-of-the-moment thing... And I fell in love with her. I had to let her go for the oil covered wolf, knowing I would get her back as soon as I could. Sure enough, she was the first re-tame I made. It just feels right having her by my side again.

SHERATON
Image
I do love Warp Stalkers. This guy was with me for most of BC, but I let him go in favour of Om. I get the feeling that he'll be changing colour when Gezz is flagegd tamable again though. ;)

FORGE
Image
Forge was my Wrath raiding pet, before everyone went wolf crazy anyway. I just love his colours, how he moves and the little dangly piece of skin under his chin. <3 (Random I know, but it's true!)

RHAGA
Image
Two devilsaurs! :O This gal was my first Devilsaur tame, back when they rolled out the 3.0 patch in BC. I had to let her go to make stable space, but I'm glad she's back. And she has a big green mate now too. :3

MISSING IN ACTION
A few pets I haven't been able to retame;
TWITCH: Silithid Ravager- Just haven't been luck enough to see him respawn. I know the colour is still around in Cata, but I'd love to snap him up before then.
CRUCIBLE: Ancient Corehound- I would go and get him now, but my brother's accoutn is down so I can't use that to form a raid with. And my friends have gone into hibernation until Cata hits. I will get him back though!
KHARASH: Vilebranch Raiding Worg- Kharash was with me for four years before I had to let him go. I cared about him a lot, and it hurt to have to abandon him. But now, I'm not sure whether to tame him again or not. Why? Well, I'm thinking of making him into a worgen rogue come Cataclysm. I think that'd be a fitting way to keep him about.

~

New Pets!

DOMINO
Image
I've always loved this Wind Serpent look. I rememeber looking at it in the model viewer during BC and wishing that it was one of the tamable skins. But alas, never had the space up until now.

LIGEIA
Image
Another case of "Wanted to tame but didn't have the space". Always loved the look of the Jormungar Worms, glad to finally have one with me. She may be changing colours if Blizzard ever introduces some of the new ones in Cata. *Hopes*

And that's that! (whew)
There are a few pets I'll be taming when Cata hits us finally, but this list is long enough already. :3

Yay, I'm excited - I got two more rares this evening: my much-adored Sheldon (I was giddy when I saw him!) and the very handsome, breathtaking Celeborn (Ironback and Hayoc, respectively). Now the only one left is my dear Shikon. At least now I can focus on her, rather than wondering if any of my other rares were up while I'm camping her. :)

Thanks everyone for the compliments for my worm! :D

And since we now have so many pictures here I'll add some of my other pets as well. I don't have so many nice outfits, so I'm just wearing my Flame Keeper outfit. I took the pictures in Sholazar Basin because, you know, I'm waiting for someone. :)

First the pets I had:

Roshan (the Rake):
Image
His name is Persian and means “light, bright”. The Rake has been one of my favourites since Vanilla (but I haven’t had Roshan since then because this troll hunter was only born in WotLK). And not too long ago Roshan was called Arash, another Persian name, but I like this one better.

Goliath (King Mosh):
Image
I tamed Mosh as soon as I could. He’s always been my favourite devilsaur. I abandoned him once but got him back soon after because I missed him so much. Luckily I’m very good at finding him. He’s almost always there when I go to Un’goro.

Anansi:
Image
My favourite Silithid skin. And I really love his energy! He’s named after an African trickster god, which I think suits him very well.

These three are my main pets that are always with me. The next two were in my stables at the time:

Rumba:
Image
I levelled through Northrend with her, though she was brown at the time. Guess she's gotten old XD. I really missed my Rhino and got her back last week. The name is for the sound she makes when walking.

Shadraxis:
Image
Picked her up about a month ago. First time I even considered this skin but I love it. Oh, and despite the name, she's neither Shadra nor Naraxis but a Terokkarantula. ;)

Now the pets I got on Wednesday, which for me was patch day since I'm in Europe, in the order I got them:

Rage:
Image
I used to have a brown armored boar called Samson. But I wanted to give this skin a try and I really like it. He looks absolutely badass!
Side note: I just realized that this picture looks like I'm balancing a papaya on my face. This was not intentional! XD

Azzere:
Image
I've been waiting to get him back for a long time. I checked on him first but he wasn't up. But after I got Rage and a short trip to Tanaris to check if the beetles and wasps there are tameable, he was up and we were finally reunited!

Matron (Chimaera Matriarch):
Image
I've always liked her but never really tried her out. Though I've had a blue chimaera before.

Pounamu:
Image
My new favourite, named after a type of nephrite found in New Zealand.

Twinbeaks:
Image
Another retame. I'm really happy to have him back! This has been my favourite carrion bird ever since BC. The first time I saw this skin was acutally in Stormwind, with a dwarf hunter who aparently grabbed one as soon as she set foot into Outlands. I then did the same thing, though I no longer have that hunter (was a dwarf too).

Maggot:
Image
I've never given ravagers a serious try so not sure yet if I'll keep him. He got the name because I think he looks like a maggot on stilts XD

Skottie:
Image
Also a retame. He originally got the name for his warp ("Beam me up, Scotty!"). Unfortunately he doesn't warp anymore, but it's his name. I don't feel like changing it.

Garnet:
Image
He's new and I really like him. Never had a dragonhawk for a long time before, but I think he'll stay.

Zuul:
Image
A cookie if you know what he's named after ;)

Ixchel:
Image
Another retame. She's named after a Mayan goddess of earth that was also associated with snakes. The name means "rainbow lady".

Xochitl:
Image
Another retame and a Nahuatl name that means "flower".

And yesterday I got the Beast:

Kerberos:
Image
I had an Ancient Core once, a long time ago. But I'm happy to have the Beast now, even though he won't keep his boss tag. I've also tried out the Kurken and green ones from Outland, but to me a real core hound has to be firery ;)

Still haven't seen Loque, but I haven't had time for some serious camping so that's ok. I'm not in a hurry. And now I'm just waiting for my monkey and green parrot. And some other pets to try out. :D

Well, this little side-story of mine finally had a happy ending! After several nights of looking for Gondria and having my progress hampered by several server restarts (not to mention DC's), I was finally able to get my lovely Shikon back. Wow!

I've been waking up extremely early and going to bed very late in the hopes that she'd appear in the wee hours, but with no luck. Every time I'd log off in one of her spawn locations, hoping to get a jump start on that particular day's camping, but each time she wasn't there. Granted I did not spend countless hours upon hours in Zul'Drak, but I was there a LOT. I'd do a daily or two to break up the camping, but I did spend most of my time the past few days in Zul'Drak. We had another restart today as you know (*sigh*), so I didn't expect to see her any time soon. I spent the evening with my family for my brother's birthday, and then tomorrow I'll be spending the day at the Renaissance Festival, so I knew I wouldn't have much time this weekend for camping. Anyhow, I finally got home pretty late and changed clothes, did some laundry, and logged on the computer. I went to log into WoW, but I had another non-critical update to download, so I started it up and then hit the internet. Finally I decided to check to see if it was finished, and it was, so I logged on. And immediately upon logging in, I saw Gondria's beautiful form pacing about in the snow! Right in the location where I logged off (and also the very same location I tamed her in Beta). I already had my previous pet dismissed, so I dropped a frost trap and tamed (and of course I was incredibly nervous seeing as how there have been a lot of hunters in the area as of late). I really should have tagged her first in retrospect, but I was just too freaking excited. Finally, my lovely girl is back home for GOOD! Oh, I am just so happy, beyond words! And I can't stop stopping to look at her and admire her. She is the most beautiful SB in my opinion. In fact, I think she is one of the most beautiful beasts, period. I just adore her, and I am so thrilled that I found her and don't have to worry about losing her ever again. *huggles Shikon* And it's a good thing I logged on when I did, because after killing the big giant thingy and the bear (in the last two screenshots you can see them) and taking a couple screenshots, a blood elf hunter arrived. He did give her a congratulations, but still, I was quite likely mere minutes away from losing my beautiful baby. My stables are finally complete until Cataclysm! The only thing(s) I'll tame from now til December are just random tames, I have all my lovelies back and a couple of new faces, too. :)

Anyhow, picture time!!! I know these aren't the greatest in the world (*grumble*need EotB*grumble*), but they'll have to do. :D

Congrats Rhyela!!! I remember spending a total of 15 hours for Gondria. As soon as I dinged level 77 I flew to Zul'Drak to do laps around her spawn points, and found her immediately after another hunter's tame finished on her. I searched for 13 more solid hours (having to log out to delete my cache TWICE because aforementioned hunter kept parading her around ZD), then had to go to bed due to work the next day. I got up early before work (couldn't sleep, Gondria on my mind) and camped for 2 hours until I left for work. No luck. I had my husband log in and check a few times throughout the day (he was not too pleased about this) and was ramped up all day about the whole thing.

My husband picked me up after work, we got takeout from Subway and headed home, and I immediately hopped on my computer. There she was!! I completely flipped out and in my haste to tame her I misplaced my trap (she jumped right over it). Being a poorly geared level 77, I actually managed to die to her. This is when I REALLY freaked out. My corpse run was around 2 minutes long and I just knew I'd come back to her dead or tamed. My husband flew out of Dalaran on his shaman in case he could reach my corpse before I did. At last I was in range of my corpse - and she was still there!! I rezzed and healed up as quickly as I could. I set the trap more carefully this time, and 20 seconds later she was mine :)

I couldn't stop admiring her all night. I remember how happy I was that I had found her right away upon getting home - not only was the stress gone, but I would actually be able to eat my sandwich! Hahaha.

...It's been over a year now and I still haven't thought of a name that fits.

First: G-rats!

Second: its funny you happened to pick the name Shikon. It's such a great name, it just so happens to be the name of my level 80 druid on Laughing skull. who i named Shikon after abandoning my first Gondria who I also named Shikon. And while in Zul'drak leveling Shikon, I came across Gondria and hopped on my hunter for a retame.

Interesting how things tend to work out.

Thanks!!! :3 You know, what's weird is that come to think of it, I don't think NPC Scan ever went off. It was Silver Dragon that picked her up. NPC Scan probably cached it, but the alert never went off. And yes, I did check or clear my cache before logging on each time, so I know she wasn't already cached. Weird......

Shikon is a great name, manbear, it seems to suit her so well! That's funny you ran into her on your druid named Shikon, and that she was also Shikon on your hunter, lol. :D Great minds think alike!

I got my Loque last night! :D

Echo
Image

I had found him once on Sunday, just in time to see him die at the hands of a human paladin. That was quite disappointing, but at least I then was free to do other things on Sunday than just touring the Basin.

Yesterday, I didn't have time to camp constantly, so I kept logging in for only a few rounds at a time. I had last logged out at his spawnpoint in the north, by the Goretalon Matriarch. When I logged in at midnight I checked npcscan and found Loque was cached. I thought "weird, I'm sure I cleared it, but oh well". I just wanted to do one last round, no problem to just keep my eyes open for that. So I head south east to the gorillas and there is Loque! I nearly panicked and almost didn't know what to do! I used Berserking and a speed pot to get him as quickly as possible! And a good thing too, because as soon as I got him a Tauren shaman came by. If I'd been there a few seconds later they would've found him first.

Still dizzy with joy and shaking hands I feed, name and speck him, let him kill a gorilla just to see what it looks like and then fly to Dalaran and go to Thunder Bluff. There I want to take a few pictures, but as soon as I hit the print key I DC for about the tenth time of the day. I just think "never mind" and go to bed. :P

So I only have this one picture that made it into my screenshot folder despite the DC. But I'll take more pictures later today I think. I chose the name Echo because of his sound. I've planned to name him that for a long time.

One day when I'm not busy with uni work and frantically collecting Darkmoon Faire rep, I'll set aside some time for some family pictures. But for now I wanted to verbally share some of my experiences. =)

I've been through quite a few pets in my time as a hunter, most of them were retames of a pet I had in the past, some pets I tamed on a whim, but some have stayed with me since I started back in TBC.

At level 70, in the days of Kara, I had Frëki, my Barking Prairie Wolf, Erulissë, my beloved Pride Watcher (who I abandoned so he really could go 'watch over his pride'. =)), and Kibaka, my peppy Scarlet Tracking Hound! I abandoned all but one come WoTLK, and always regretted it, so the first pet I picked up once the patch hit was of course Erulissë. Same spot I saw him all those years ago, I even had a tear stream down my face...It was beautiful. <3

Kibaka was a clumsy sort of tame, mainly because I could never remember WHERE the Hounds were! But he ran up to me and greeted me 'affectionately' (after I killed his former owner, of course!). I missed him, he's a scattier version of Frëki, if I'm honest ^^

Now I've been so very lucky with Gondria (and oh how I wish it were Krush...), as every time I wish to tame her, she's there, waiting for me. 3 times have I let her go, and 4 times she grinned that little spectral grinned as I dismounted from my Dragonhawk and greeted her with open arms. I named her Siouxsie (originally Banshee) and she was a girl I was expecting to hunt WEEKS for, but fortunately, the only pet I need to search for now is Krush. =( Now that I have the space, I'm definately not letting her go again. <3

I also dashed to tame my Yellow Silithid, Ickis, who I have LONGED to keep as a permanent addition to my stable since I knew Silithids were tameable. =) Along with Nom, my Black Devilsaur (he currently resides with Styx, his big brown brother!), and Crowley, my baby Green Tarantula (originally FlyBane, my first pet in WoW ever. And one very very dear to my heary <3). And last but not least, Pyree, my on-off love affair with Nuramoc has finally settled down, and seeing him rush off to tear off rogue faces in PvP brings a tear to my eye. =)

A few new additions to my stables include Vermillion, and his little sister, Viridian (The Beast and Uvuros respectively), Hyacinth, my pink/purple Dragonhawk, Neema, my white-soon-to-be-blue moth (I loved seeing them and wishing I could tame the Royal Blue Flutterers on my baby Draenei hunters). Mantle, my Emerald Owl, Beady (*squish* BEEEEEEEADDYYYYY! More affectionately known by me xD) my white Rhino, Mercury, my stunning Trachela, and Repressed, my white-and-cyan serpent. The biggest surprise came when I tamed Andromeda, my Blue Spore Bat. I stared at her for literally 10 minutes, absolutely fascinated with her beauty. She is just too pretty to not get distracted by, so I strut around Dalaran with her whilst chatting to friends. <3

They are all level 80 and as happy as can be (at least I hope!) <3

Lots of screen shots and even more patience, thanks for the compliment I liked how the end product looks not perfect but good enough. ~ Obi

Here's a little group shot I took of all of my most beloved pets, via the pet cloning glitch that was mentioned in this thread. No editing involved in the creation of this (Which was full of laughs, due to the multitude of amusing comments I was getting from passersby as I ran in and out of Orgrimmar with a progressively larger mob of pets chasing me).

As for stories:

Humar the Pridelord (Todoroki, meaning "roar" in Japanese): This was the first pet I ever camped for, and the second pet I actually owned, the first being a random filler lynx from Eversong Woods. I waited in that tree for around six hours for him to spawn. As an odd coincidence, I happened catch him just after 12 A.M, on New Year's Day (The fireworks had just died down at the time) two years ago. He's been mostly replaced by my spirit beast, but I still bring him out every now and then for the sentimental value.

Gezzarak the Huntress (Yukari, meaning "connection" in Japanese. Seemed fitting as she's by far my most treasured pet): The day I heard that this girl was tamable, I knew the first thing I was going to do was get her the moment I hit 72. And so I did, though it took a few hours of farming the items needed, and multiple botched taming attempts despite having a paladin, shaman, and rogue friend supporting me in the task. I'm certainly glad I didn't wait, seeing as she became untamable a mere few days later. She finds regular use as my old world heroic and raid tank.

Wind serpent (Ventus, meaning "wind" in latin.): I just decided to pick this guy up on a whim one day. Had plenty of fun with him by raiding the Stormwind auction house area until the day they decided to remove Eyes of the Beast (Those alliance never did manage to find my hiding place). Now he finds frequent use as my DPS pet of choice, depending on the group makeup.

Nuramoc (Unnamed for now): I had been wanting to tame him for the longest time, but unable to do so due to the lack of stable space. So naturally, the moment the 4.01 patch came out, I set out to go look for him. He ended up popping up close to midnight (Took about two hours of periodic searching), and I tamed him without any issues, though not before suddenly getting DC'd just prior to the taming attempt, which had me seriously worried, as when I logged back in, he was initially nowhere in sight. Used as a PvP pet due to the nifty snare.

Loque'nahak (Unnamed for now): I just happened to stumble across him one day shortly after hitting 80, while I was doing some gathering. I'm glad I tamed him, since I've seen him only once since that time over a year ago. I use him as both PvE DPS pet and PvP pet, due to Spirit Mend and the buff.

Ghost Jormungar (Toothy, for obvious reasons. if you squint, you'll see he's between the chimera and devilsaur): I always wanted one of these guys, but lacked the stable space. The plain jormungar skin was a little too ordinary for me, so I went with the ghostly look (Wish they'd use the six or so other colors that can be seen in the model viewer). Used as a PvE DPS pet for melee heavy groups. I really love the AoE damage that Burrow Attack puts out right now, though I wish the worm would be untargettable during the time, since he tends to get pounded due to all the threat it puts out.

King Krush (Joe, the nickname for the infamous green T-rex like monster known as a Deviljho from Monster Hunter Tri): Another pet I was planning on getting after the 4.01 patch. I had only seen him once beforehand, on which instance I ended up killing him due to being unprepared for the tame, and some other player approaching with the same intent. I spent close to a week searching the basin for him, which was probably largely due to the multitude of players stocking up on trade goods for Cataclysm. Eventually, I got lucky, and he decided to spawn right next to me as I passed the Skyreach Pillar, and at a time where no other people were in the basin, no less. I popped my core hound's hysteria, a potion of speed, and my hyperspeed accelerators before starting the tame, and a mere four second later, he was mine. I tend to use him the most out of all my PvE DPS pets, due to the general usefulness of the 5% crit buff. I do wonder if the racket he makes bothers people, though.

I only have nine out of my 25 stable slots filled presently, as I'm waiting for the pre-Cataclysm patch, which will make many skins of pets that I desire available.
