for the beta, I've found vendors in eastern kingdoms for everything my pets need as food except fruit or fish (without having to do any fishing) so far....any suggestions where i should look? searching UC was a bust for any fruit or fish

Fish can commonly be had from the fishing supplies vendor.
Fruit I seem to recall was available from cooking supplies on occasion.
I don't know if the sold items "scale" up to the higher levels though - I haven't used pet food since the Glyph of Mend Pet became available - my pets live on snuggles alone these days!

The innkeeper in Grom'gol has both fish and fruit.

Dalaran vendor has fruit and the innkeepers have some fish

The vendors on the zeppelins also have fruit, but no fish, if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure about Eastern Kingdoms, but I know in Org there is a fruit vendor near the entrance to the Cleft of Shadow, the entrance near the pvp vendors and flight master, not the one from the drag. Also I think the fishing supplies vendor next to the pond near the hunter trainers sell fish.

I don't know about you guys, but ever since the implementation of glyphs, specifically the Glyph of Mend Pet, I have had no reason to ever actually feed my pets food. On occasion I'll toss them something that made it into my bags from auto loot, but other than that, the glyph and the occasional pet talent (Bloodthirsty, Guard Dog, and even Carrion Feeder sometimes) take care of pet happiness for me.
