Before the most recent beta patch I had 85k health, and occasionally had to be careful when killing something. I log in today and I have 104k health and my pet's sitting at 114k, at level 82.
I no longer have to worry about incoming damage. Even elites have a hard time chewing up my (admittedly a tank) pet. Whatever they tuned on the HP/damage scale, it feels like they tuned it a little too high.
