People whine regardless though. Druids lost the ability to do fun stuff like running around as a skeleton in CAT form because a yellow bar is just "too difficult to notice", people are morons and do that so we just accept it.

That wasn't the question; it's a given that no action on Blizzard's part will ever get 100% approval from the players - the question is, broadly speaking, are players always/categorically wrong to be bothered when Blizzard takes something away that they [Blizzard] had unintentionally added?

People will think what they like about anything no matter how utterly infurating what is done is (WTB flight form Arokka again that was hilarious). Garwal should never have happened as cool as it was, that was as per usual players finding the unexpected. The owl as I stated, I doubt that was intentional but they thought "Eh" and left it. The Hydra/Slime wasn't intentional nor Ghost Wolf (Despite being badly handled afterwards), they left the tamees alone. This is all completely unlike Vanilla where the Snakes got to starve.

So all in all, Blizzard's game and we can have our own opinions/rage on the result of whatever they decide to do but they call the shots. It's nothing more difficult than that.

Worba, luckily Blizzard tries to avoid scenarios like that with Hunter pets. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only completely deleted unintentional pet that made it into live was Garwal, and they had perfectly valid reasons to do what they did: he had the appearance of a Worgen, which happened to be a future player race. Everything else we've gotten to keep.

Still haven't gotten an answer to the original question...

And I think the reason it seems to be getting avoided is because the attitude toward players "QQ"ing about content removal is a matter of scope not principle - e.g. easy enough to brush it off when it's something small like a boss tag (just for example), but as soon as you crank it up to the level of adding a brand new spirit beast, the mold gets busted.

(and I'm not saying they were wrong to take Garwal away - but neither were players wrong to feel somewhat bummed out at the loss)

Just a question, but why would the old models have to be changed into Spirit Beasts? I mean they were tamed prior to the existence of Spirit Beasts. And I don't see why they couldn't make this model a Wolf instead. While there is that Owl that is both a Carrion Bird and Bird of Prey, I don't think it's a good idea to continue that theme. This pet's type should be tamed, but he should change into a wolf. BM already has Skoll. And I know that Gondria and Loque are both cats, but come on. Let's get a bit more creative instead of using these skins over and over again. Why don't we reuse a Boar, Worm, Rhino, Dragonhawk...? The list could go on forever.

And a side note, I have mention this earlier, but Wain is killing me. Looks like I'm down to 2 free stable slots on Bundia (Counting Swiftmane. I'm still hoping). Time to see what I can switch over... Or maybe I need a third hunter for just low level rares....>.> I used to be fairly normal concerning my pet obsession until I found this place. I love this place.

I see this as more of a Oil-stained wolf, Ghost Hydra, and Croco Slime issue than Garwal... who would get upset if they brought the Ghost Hydra and Croco Slime back as spirit beasts... the people who wanted to be "special"? It's a rough world we live in.

Since the Oil-stained wolf is the only one left of that group... what would happen if they took THAT model, made it into a spirit beast, and then made it easily tameable by any hunter that could tame it?

I wouldn't mind having the Oil-stained wolf turn into a spirit beast, because I don't care if it is a wolf or a spirit beast... I like the skin.

I feel the same way about Karoma... I don't care if it is a wolf or a spirit beast... I just want the skin. I have 24 other pet slots to work with if Blizzard makes it one or the other.

It's not that I have a problem per se. I just don't think it's a theme that Blizzard should continue. And as for this particular instance, I can just see the forums blowing up about people that don't know why they can't tame this guy at lvl 85 as MM or SV. WHAT?! IT'S NOT A WOLF LIKE THIS ONE MY FRIEND HAS? People have enough trouble understanding that our current SB are exotics. I just don't think having these guys share a skin flows with the new mentality of Cata. Everything is supposed to be "easy" as you can pick up the game and play without outside sources. And these guys are going to confuse people.

Not that I advocate "catering to the casual" as I am in fact a casual due to my Real Life schedule and obligations, but it IS the model that Blizzard is going towards. So please change this guy to a wolf instead of a Spirit Beast. He's still rare. He'll still be sought after. He doesn't have to be a Spirit Beast to be cool, right Terrorpene and Sambas? Making him a wolf solves a lot of problems to me.

Sigh. Just saying I think it's most likely that the new model will remain a spirit beast, but that the existing tames will remain wolves. Not only do they have different NPC IDs, it's the path of least resistance for Blizzard - in this scenario the only possible complaint* would be people saying they can't tell a hunter's spec from his pet if he's using a spirit wolf... which really wouldn't mean much considering a BM hunter with non-exotic pet is already "cloaked" in this fashion...

*People couldn't even really complain about uniqueness issues, because existing tames would still be the only spirit wolf skin in the game that could be used by non-BM, e.g. they'd still have some kind of meaningful recognition of the hard work they put in to tame the spirit guide way back when.

The oil-stained wolf is a different caliber of issue than this skin/the Ghost Hydra/Ghost Slime/etc., because (AFAIK) you can still tame the oil-stained wolf. You cannot tame the ghost wolf/ghost hydra/ghost slime anymore, meaning that anyone who DOES want them and does not enjoy BM for whatever reason is screwed should they come back as Spirit Beasts.

Which, quite honestly, is a complete load of BS.

For those who already had the ghost wolf tamed, this is devastating.

I wouldn't say it's devastating. Honestly, as long as they don't do anything to mess with my current WOLF ghost wolf, I won't mind at all since it's still unique and I get to use him in all three specs.

But if my Shunjal gets turned into a Spirit Beast, or (worse) into a regular-skinned wolf... there will be hell to pay. HELL TO PAY, I SAY. I don't think it will happen though, because this won't be the first case of the same model being used for different families (see Dark Brown Owl/Brown Crow which can be a Carrion Bird or a Bird of Prey).

Now I have a conundrum though... do I go out and tame this new Spirit Beast as well and have two ghost wolves for two different families? Do I give them the same or different names? How would my current Spirit Beast, Dante, feel about it? Honestly, I'm not sure which one I like better. Will have to meditate on this...

So there's two new Spirit Beasts in the beta now, this wolf and Ghostcrawler. Both use the "transparent animal" theme. While this is great, especially for people that have wanted a ghost wolf for quite some time, I have to say I'm a little disappointed. I'm not a big fan of see-through animals -- I prefer my pets to have substance to them, hense why the only current spirit beasts I'm interested in are Loque (still hunting for him) and Skoll (found!).

Here's hoping that a non-transparent new spirit beast will be introduced as well And grats to everyone who will get this shiny, not-so-new wolf.
