I Need Your Help with Marked Deep Sea Crabs

I'm having a lot of trouble getting model shots for the deep sea crabs with bioluminescent markings.

For example, one of the variations of the Pyreshell Scuttler looks like so:

But all I can see in the model viewer is this:



Can anyone help me get accurate model shots of the marked crabs? Or explain to me how I can do it myself?

Hmm... Have you tried to apply it as a separate texture? I think the glowy textures are listed separately.

Can you explain how to do that? My knowledge of WMV is pretty primitive.

I use MyWarcraftStudio for that. xD

Just go in, smack them together, and save it as a separate archive.

I keep hearing about MyWarcraftStudio but I've never been able to find a good download. Should I really grab the one from 2008?

Hmm... Not sure when the latest release is from, but I doubt it's the 2008 one. I'd try scavenging trough MMOwned first.

Wassa uses that a fair bit too, but she doesn't have a beta key and so can't access all the new models. I've hunted for a new version, but I can't find one. The developer's site is all in Chinese though :/

id help.....but i deleted the beta off my computer and i dont feel like downloading a million patches to put it back
i could grab ones of the new jormungar models if you want but none of the brand new models

I wonder if MyWarcraftStudio would also render the fire turtle correctly...

thats more or less a MPQ extractor for skin editing
trust me.....its not what you need....unless they changed that but for now its only good for looking at the actual skin and textures not the model

Exactly. You can use it to extract the files dealing with how to skin a particular model, make the small change in the file to apply texture [name] as well, and then repackage it into a new MPQ that you can set the modelviewer to use.

With the latest patch it looks like a good part of my old MyWarcraftStudio broke. I cannot extract a lot of files. I'll try sometime tomorrow after I get home from work to see if I can get the files to work and make the crabs glow.

My boyfriend got beta two weeks ago and gave me the data folder, so I kind of have beta, at least the MPQ files to look at. =D

i found this from the old alpha models MMO champion had before blizz made them take em down
i cant seem to get rid of the logo in the background however......MMO champion is crafty maybe someone with more patience can fix this for ya

I found a download on MMOwned but so far the only thing I can get it to do is crash.

Wassa: If you have a chance that would be great. But don't feel obligated.

Zangor: Oh, good find. Don't try to remove the logo, though - if I need to use someone else's picture I'll need to give them credit and a link anyway. (And I would usually try to contact the site owner first for something on Petopia, although I fudge this with the blog for breaking news.)

Nice job Looks pretty much like what I see in game. They have other marks on their bodies but those are probably also present in your screenshot, just hidden by the angle. For example, marks under the pincers:

That looks great, Wassa! I can actually take a pic like that and make it work just fine. (I'm hacking that one up as I type. )

But if you want to get fancy about it, the background I use is 220/255/220 (RGB). The pics end up being 600x600, so ideally the crab itself will be around that or a bit larger than that so I can size it down (rather than up) if necessary.

Seriously, though, if you just take some more shots like that and sling 'em at me in this thread, I will be eternally in your debt.

My model viewer shows the blue and purple, but not the black one.

Those may come in handy later. Unfortunately right now I especially need the blue one with purple markings.
