Re: Why do YOU have two hunters?

I'm an altaholic. I've long ago filled up the 50 available character slots on my main account. I've bought myself a second one earlier this year and so far have restrained myself to only three characters, each on the most-visited realms.

My main focus is my characters and guild on Dath'Remar. I have one of each class horde-side there, plus a hunter alt on the second account. The remaining slots on the second account will probably be used for newly available class/race combos once Cata releases. A couple of goblins, Troll Druid etc. I expect to have all 20 slots filled within a few months of release.

Probably about equal second priority are my characters on Moon Guard and Nessingwary. I have a number of characters on Alliance side on Moon Guard, to which I may add a couple more alts on the second account. I already have a mid-40's priest there thats semi-abandonned but now that I've discovered dual-boxing I may well revisit less played alts.

I killed off a lesser used alt to create a DK on Nessingwary - he's a recreation of my main "Cryptography". He, along with the hunter and warlock alts I already have there will be visited every few days. I intend to add a whole lot of extra hunter alts so that I have at least one of every class and race possible - so my horde guys will have a couple of Alliance companions. I'll probably have about 15 characters there eventualy.

There are almost 20 characters on two servers that are mostly abandonned. These are my first sets of horde and alliance characters that I started with back in Vanilla WoW. I had acute altitis even then, so these are all lowbies, again covering every race/gender/class available in vanilla. I added a Draeni Shammy soon after TBC but then my friends stopped playing and I got caught up on Dath as my new "main" realm.

The remaining characters on the first account are scattered over a number of servers. I have 4-5 characters each on The Venture Co and Caelestasz that see semi-regular use. The last handful of characters are the alts I use when I'm hiding and feeling anti-social!

At one time i had a character on every oceanic realm, just so I had a reserved spot if the realms got full. These were all level 20+ but have slowly been sacrificed as I've developed attachments to certain realms.

Of these ludicrous ammounts of alts, about 16 are hunters and another 13 warlocks. I just love my pet classes - yet my only level 80's are a rogue and a DK. I am utterly uninterested in raiding or getting on the gear treadmill so it doesnt bother me that the vast majority of these characters are low-mid level and only creep higher very slowly. Theres just so much to do and see in Azeroth - and its about to be all refreshed again!

The only reason I have two is that one was my original main in vanilla and she was Alliance. When I rerolled Horde to my druid main, I missed being a hunter, so I levelled up another one. This was years before race/faction changes were announced.

Now I have a small, growing army of Alliance alts to match my Horde ones. The Alliance hunter is my farmer/gold gatherer for them and will help me to fund my new baby worgen druid.

Druids are my real obsession (sorry!) I plan to have one of each race, each of whom has a different main spec.

I have 3  why do I have 3? Well one is one another account, my bros account and she was my char so I leveled her up to 80 for kicks.
My main hunter I got to lvl 80 fast, and my other hunter? Different server, different faction but the result is the same, I was bored so I made an alt. I dont click with any of the other classes, and I really wanted to play with the peeps from the forums here :)

Actually ended up being more on my hunter alt then anything

My main is geared, and bored.. so.. until Cata hits it'll be boring as heck. Hoping maybe the new patch will come out with some interesting things to keep me preoccupied ^.^

I currently have a "baby" Hunter on a Player Versus Environment realm. I just wanna level in peace. I do it for like the fun of leveling and questing. Come Cataclysm, I'm so, so gonna level a female "Worgen". Even though I visually don't like the female "Worgen". They totally do not look like the same species as male, actual Worgens. And I hate their balloon "breasts". I wanna change my main Hunter to a "Worgen" Hunter!
Robot Wars is renewed for 6 episodes! I love some Exotic pets! And I hate spiders for.. "pets"!

Well, I currently have 4 hunters: 80 troll, 66 orc, 28 tauren; and an 80 nelf.
I've deleted 3 or 4 hunters over the years, one of which was L62.

While I've gotten every class to L80 now (whew, that rogue took for-ev-er, I am NOT a rogue OR melee person!!), I keep rerolling hunters. Their special customization with pets keeps me coming back for more.

My original reasons were because I loved other race's animations / looks, and of course the small stable size (remember when we could only have 3 pets??). However, as Cata is soon coming, I'm still planning on at least one baby huntress, a female Goblin. I'm very likely going to have a female Worgen huntress on one of my friend's RP servers as well so I can RP with him.

Ikult, my 80 troll, and Etona, my 80 nelf, will remain my "mains" on horde and alliance, respectively. They are the ones who have priority to obtain gear / achievements. However, they won't always be the ones I focus on for rare pets; as others have stated, I also think certain pets go with certain races, and some of the new rares are just not going to click with my troll or nelf. Some rares or commons are going to click with several of my hunters, and so I will be taming / camping them on several characters.

The fun of WoW, for me, is leveling and questing. Raiding is sure fun when I can find time for it, as I love playing in a group (especially with my two friendly guilds!!), but that is not why I keep remaining with WoW. WoW is all about playing with friends and family, leveling, questing, and finding surprise drops & rare tames.

And if I end up with some new races to level, some new RP stories, and new in-game friends to travel Azeroth with, so much the better!

Like pretty much everyone else has mentioned, I have more than 1 hunter because different pets click with different hunters! I would never dream of taming a core hound on my night elf and detested the thought of having that pet. The exact same pet I love to death on my Tauren hunter.

Also, it's not terribly repetitive to level as more than one hunter. Unlike other classes, which run into difficulties at certain levels, a hunter can pretty much power through anything because you have a special buddy to help you out. And if you get into a doldrums point while leveling, it's easy to spice things up by finding a new traveling companion to give you more enthusiasm. Leveling a hunter is wicked easy at pretty much any level while still being enjoyable, while other classes will run into roadblocks that get frustrating and lower the fun level.

Some time ago several had mentioned here on the forums, when many folks were indecisive, myself included, on this or that pet to keep, before stables were expanded, the solution suggested was:
"Make another hunter so you can get all those rares & not have to worry so much about them on your main hunter."
Needless to say that's how my 2nd hunter got started, to collect those 'extra' pets that I ''couldn't'' on my first hunter.

However since then; both are similarly geared, have 5k+ gs, & all the rares I can shake a Spiced Mammoth Treat at, even though they have similar stables though I prefer some pets over others for each hunter i.e. Kaz'Ai has Ed the Hyena, Tilo does not, Kaz'Ai has all four spirit beasts, Tilo does not, etc.

I like them both, but I've preferred Kaz'Ai lately.

Now, I've yet another hunter, she's little still, space goat ftw! Whether I'll level her to 80 is kind of up in the air, but she does have Eyachee, & Crusty which I think is pretty neato'

Been a ranger fighter (usually with a bow) in every game I've played, so hunter was my immediate choice when when my little bro introduced me to the game at launch. Picked NE because I liked how their area was pretty and green. XD Raided on her for a while ... then RL friends decided to switch to Horde.

Leveled a druid as my main @ 60 (none of my friends wanted to heal), but leveled an Orc hunter because my friends leveled too slow and ended up raiding on THAT hunter at 70.
Followed RL friends to an RP server, leveled ANOTHER (Tauren) hunter to 70.
Leveled the Orc to 80 and raided on her during Wrath.
Followed RL friends to ANOTHER (PvP) server, and leveled ANOTHER NE hunter to 80.
Switching servers again when cata comes out, and my baby Tauren hunter (trying to get used to this whole "focus" thing without 80 levels worth of abilities clogging up my brain) on that server's already 17.

The pets

TL;DR
I love druids, I've enjoyed PvPing on a rogue and healing on a shaman but for some reason I just CANNOT stop myself from leveling hunters ... I'll have a couple days off in my RL/raiding schedule and the next thing I know there's another 30-something hunter on my account!

I can't decide what race to play and that NE only cat looks cool. :( I kind of want to either play a Draenei or Worgen...

I think if you level up to 10+ you keep your starter pet the same as it was even if you race/faction change .. yes it costs money but its an option if you like the cat but want to play something different

I lvled up a nelf to 12 and racechanged her to a draenei .. she kept her white saber

Agreeing with what most people said here. A large fact is that I like to customize each hunter with pets that compliment them. =) My Nelf kinda has a purple theme and even though I loved Rak'shiri, he looked tacky at her side while the pride watcher was a beautiful match. So I got Rak'shiri for my Draenai hunter instead. They're blue buddies and happy!

Another reason is because I love to pvp, preferably in the lower brackets. I like it when its simple so I kept rerolling hunters to pvp with =P Lets just say I got attached to a few of them. XD Also, since I'm relatively new to wow I knew I had a loooot of practice to do so that I could be good at my class so I can be successful in arenas when the time comes. You look less stupid when you're a fail hunter in BGs when you're a level 15 than a level 60. =P

And thirdly was because I made my other two hunters before 4.0.1 which changed dual spec from 1000g to just 100g. I refused to pay 1000g but I wanted to try other other talent trees =) Course that was before I knew how to make gold and I was a noob. But I have my 3 hunters now and I don't plan on letting 'em go. =P

Heleos wrote:I have recently been going around on a lot of forums, especially this one, and I've noticed a lot of hunters have more hunter toons. I know some of you even have 3-4 hunter characters. Hunters are DPS no matter what spec, so why do YOU have a hunter alt?

Not saying I'm against it. Just wondering why everyone would go through the trouble of taming rares/gearing all over again. I'm a bit curious since I've been thinking of doing it myself; I want to try explosive shot as a level ten.

So yeah... Why do YOU have more then one hunter character?
Sarayana wrote:I have two right now, though I'm finding myself slightly bored with the leveling grind at the moment so Aoani isn't moving forward very much... :? Anyway! I'm planning a third in Cata. :D

Reason? Well, it's the same reason I have two druids and two shammies. I enjoy playing around with the character. I distinguish the toons on the basis of spec, theme, personality, and/or faction.

On my main realm, Shadow Council, all of my characters except one will be hunters come Cataclysm. I just can't get into playing any other class with Death Knight being an exception, plus, I love pets, I love collecting pets, and I love developing stories for my hunters and their pets. I'm also a rare hunter, and I just know that Toph's stable is going to fill up pretty quickly since the rest of the demon dogs will be tamable in the expansion, and I like having certain pet families on certain characters.

I have two main hunters. Casdia was my original wow character that I first got into the game with. I had played a night elf hunter to lvl 16 before that on my mom's account when wow first came out, but casdia was my first character on my own account. These days I play my resto shammy more during raid season, but I hardly touch her at all when not raiding. That time is devoted to my hunters. Casdia was originally a dwarf huntress, but switched to an orc before we moved our mains to Alexstraza to join another raiding guild.

My other hunter is named Antonietta. She was created so that I could still play a hunter on stonemaul while Casdia was taking a horde vacation on Alexstraza. She ended up having a very different personality and clicking with different pets than casdia did, so I kept her even when I transferred Casdia back to Stonemaul. As of now, Cas is still horde, so it's nice to have one on each side. Antonietta's main pets are named Byron, which you would get if you've ever read Dark Symphony by Christine Feehan, which I'd totally recommend if you like romance and adventure books.

I've got several little lowbie hunter alts scattered across my account. But of the hunters I'm actively leveling, I've got one for Horde (a troll) and one for Alliance (a draenei). It's simple as that: I wanted (at least) one for each faction.

ETA: Made a very weird error.
