BlizzCon 2010 Mini-Pet Code E-mail
I got a rather suspicious-looking e-mail from "Blizzcon@rayv.com" with the subject line "BlizzCon 2010 item redemption."
All of the words were spelled right and the e-mail came to my real e-mail, not the one I use publicly, but all the links went to a URL in Israel that ended with a long string of gibberish.
As I said, suspicious.
But just in case, I went to battle.net manually (by typing in the URL to my browser), logged into my account, and found the Item Redemption area. I input the code in the e-mail and ... it worked. I now own Deathy the little murloc.
I am guessing that RayV, who managed the paid stream and sent the e-mail, doesn't understand how paranoid WoW has taught us to be about e-mails with weird links.
Anyway, if you get one of these, don't trash it and don't trust it. (You never know!) Instead head to battle.net yourself and see if the code actually works.
(Cross-posted at http://www.maniasarcania.com/2010/11/10 ... -pet-code/ because I am too lazy to write this twice.)

Congrats on getting a free pet I guess? Was it because of your ties to running a very good looking WOW-community?

I got the same mail too, in my super-secret WoW e-mail I only use for Battle.net (and used for the Internet stream).
You can just log into Battle.net, go into the WoW section and account settings, and there you should see an item redemption link. Simply putting the code that was in your mail should confirm if it's legit or not. ^^ *hides in a dark corner and tries to learn to read whole posts.....*

It's legit. :3

Er, no - it was because I bought the BlizzCon 2010 video stream (largely to get the pet, I admit).Royi wrote:Congrats on getting a free pet I guess? Was it because of your ties to running a very good looking WOW-community?
Yes - and that's exactly what I did. I just wanted to make it into a more interesting story.Golden wrote:I got the same mail too, in my super-secret WoW e-mail I only use for Battle.net (and used for the Internet stream).

Haha, yes I had the exact same suspicions this morning when I saw my email. If anything I've become wary of all WoW related emails, but at least it's a simple matter of going to your own battle.net login and confirming.

Only thing that irritates me is these things...
1. You click on him, he gives the Submariner Murloc sounds
2. He makes shooting noises despite he doesnt do anything, like the Submariner Murloc did.
WTH Blizzard?

Yeah, it's a known issue that he accidentally thinks he's the Marine. However in patch 4.0.3 he has his correct sounds and animations, so we might have to live with a confused Deathy until then.

One of the best looking murlocs. Even watching him swim is a treat.

The GM I spoke to forwarded my report to the technical department.

I think he's getting fixed actually in a patch just before the release of Cataclysm? Not quite sure. But you can check MMO champion for his REAL sweet moves.Vephriel wrote:Yeah, it's a known issue that he accidentally thinks he's the Marine. Yay more deathlocs! Being the only deathloc on muradin was making mine lonely
