Pets "Rescued" before Cataclysm

There's going to be a lot of changes in Cataclysm, obviously, and while we're lucky that every currently-available skin type for pets will be available in one way or another, some mobs will be removed from their current locations, and some locations will disappear/completely change. So, has anyone else gone out of their way to "rescue" a pet from one of those places before it's gone for good?

I've done it twice so far.

First Toeph rescued Ozai, aka Vilewing, the red bat from classic Shadowfang Keep.

Second, Cerah just picked up Smiley, the Zulian crocolisk from Zul'Gurub, during her latest mount/small pet/Zalandar rep run. During the same run, my lvl 65 guildie, Patrika, rescued one of the Zulian tigers too.

Any other lucky rescues out there?

I had Gazini, my troll, rescue Chatter from Redridge Mountains. Kalliope's fondness of that tarantula rubbed off on me, and with still no sightings of him in Beta I had to get him.

I rescued Clutchmother back when we didn't know she was still going to be around, before her skin was found on all those tallstriders in Swamp of Sorrows. Aoani also tamed Azzere, though that was more because of the pet challenge than to rescue her.

I had Gazini, my troll, rescue Chatter from Redridge Mountains. Kalliope's fondness of that tarantula rubbed off on me, and with still no sightings of him in Beta I had to get him.

<3 I do maintain hope that he'll officially be that little guy in the southeast.

I've consciously rescued Timber, Azzere, and the Clutchmother (when she was still in danger). I have fond memories of Clutchy (the first rare I ever saw in WoW) and Timber (my lowbies tested themselves against him), but my feelings for Azzere came from the guild - never expected to grow attached by proxy!

Now I feel bad about releasing Timber on my main... But, my baby belf hunter does have him! Hmmm......

So Teigan and her wolf fell out of love, as it happens. They both changed, grew apart, and decided to go each their own way. Find their own fortune, as it were. Along comes [Teig's belf whose name I've forgotten] and sees this beautiful wolf. Confused, because this wolf is clearly well kept but seems confused and lost, she stops to watch him. As their eyes meet, she realises that he and his previous owner had grown apart. "Poor thing," she thinks to herself, "he doesn't remember what it's like to live in the wilderness..." As she finishes the thought, the decision is already formed, and she bonds with the wolf that used to belong to the orc Teigan.


Does that work? See, you didn't abandon him, you just left him to find a stronger love with another hunter. One that, coincidentally, is also played by you.

I've rescued Timber, Azzere the Skyblade, Washte Pawne (he's not rare, but I can't stand the thought of him and Azzere being apart!), Vile Sting, and the original Silithid Ravager.

I did befriend the Silithid Ravager last night. Chaos is safe with Grys

I went in and rescued one of Hakkar's sons from ZG. He's a little unhappy at the moment, but he'll live.

I did go and retame my Bloodseeker Bat from ZG, together with a Soulflayer and Son of Hakkar wind serpent. Real shame I can't relocate Gahz'ranka though...

I'd nabbed both a zulian tiger and panther but can't stand that stupid cat face.

I do, however, have Lord Lakmaeran, and have had him for ages--and he's gone, as is his whole clan & island, from feralas.

I always hated abandoning my pets. HATED it so much. I know, I know they're just pixels, I get it, but it was so painful anyway.
