The Elusive King Krush

Unread post by Brawne »

Yeah, I probably picked a horrible time to want to tame this guy, but, how long did it take people who have King Krush to get him? I've been checking for over a week all his paths, but nothing yet. Does he share spawn timers with any other rares in the Basin?

King Krush has his own spawn timer.

Like all other NR rares, he is on a 6-22 hour timer.

There is a "cap" of how many rares can be up in NR at one time, according to conversations some have had with GMs.

The absolute best way to find Krush is to sit at one of his spawn points, and wait til he spawns. He does not spawn at any point of his patrol, he has a few spawn spots, like how Vyragosa and TLPD have, and then he walks along his patrol route. He can patrol north to south or south to north along the western edge.

He spawned at the bones south of Nesingwary's camp when I tamed him.

The reason I advise sitting at a spawn point is to avoid a situation like the first time I saw Krush.

I had been camping out on the south end of his western patrol route, and got bored. I flew all the way north to Shango, and then back. All in all less than a minute. In that time, Krush spawned and was killed by a DK. I flew back south to see his corpse lying there and the killer still standing over his body. If I hadn't flown around, I might have been there in time to catch him. :(

The time I tamed him, I was sitting at the bones, and quickly tamed him, within 30 seconds or so of when he spawned.

He's got his own spawn timer. It only took me two days, but that was good luck and ten-to-fourteen hour camps. XD I chose one spot to camp, figuring it would take me longer but would guarantee me eventual success, and on the second day he spawned right in front of me by the Glimmering Pillar. I've seen Krush four times, once by the gorillas, once by the Glimmering Pillar and twice pathing next to the Nesingwary camp, if that helps at all. He's completely worth your time, though. I fall more in love with my Chiasa every day. Good luck!

I've only seen him ONCE and that was by complete accident. Of course I tried taming, but this was before the shortening of the tame timer and other fixes, so I always got stomped into the ground.

And enters the retarded human DK who kills him "so kindly" for the five hunters all round-robining to tame him.

It took me a good 5 weeks minimum to get that guy, but keep in mind I was only doing fly-bys. Since he's a wanderer, and I didn't have control over when he last spawned I kept it like that, until the day where he was killed right in front of me, then I decided to camp 7 hours later :D

Anyway, good luck to you! Hope you find and tame him without any troubles along the way. :)

i popped in and out a few times a day took about a week found him tried to tame him forgot his immune to ice trap he feared me so i FD
next time i pop a speed pot and try it still got the fear off before i could tame
third try i tammed a random cat popped beastial wrath abandoned pet used the trolls beserking and haste pot i had like a 5 second tame pet so i finally got him
it was a great day i named mine Gorosaurus from Godzilla :P

he is a hard tame hits like a truck i would recommend the haste pot and have as much haste gear has you can for an easy tame because it was not long before two more hunters came by and said their npc scan went off cause hes so big so getting the tame off fast is important

For what it's worth, I tamed him by Glimmering Pillar. Few feelings match the O_O of NPCscan going off. And worst feeling in the world is dying to him and praying no one snags him before you do. But I got him with the help of a nice dorf priest. :D

Edit: And yes, yes he DOES hit like a truck. Novi has pretty good gear and he still hit for 700-5k damage. Owch.

Took me slightly over a week.

Ended up finding him extremely early in the morning near the Glimmering Pillar when there was only one other Horde player present in the basin.

Took me nearly 2 years to find him, but i got lucky and snagged him late one night by the Bones of Nozronn.

And a couple hours ago, he helped me to finally get my Lich King kill that I've been after for a long time.

Depending on the population of your server, the extent to which Sholazar is botted, and the time of day, you might want to fly between spawns every so often. If, say, 20-30 people are in Sholazar, I'd sit at a spawn, but if you're on a server where Sholazar is populated by like 3 botters and a couple level 75's, I'd go ahead and be a bit more mobile. Checking his three areas takes about 5 minutes in my experience, and with a low population, he can easily live for 5 minutes before being killed or tamed. I'd at least check the glimmering pillar spawn and the spawn down south by the apes (make a deal with any loque'nahak campers to share info :) ), because the guards will kill Krush, making that big western patrol a bit less important to check. I'd still check it, though, but not if you feel that you can't afford to expose the other spawns for that much time depending on the population.

A solid idea would be to find a friend to go sweep Northrend for rares, killing any he/she finds and letting you know. Like Kittykat correctly said above, there is almost definitely a rare cap for Northrend, in which no more than three or four rares can be up at once. If Krush's timer is ready to "fire" and spawn him, but three rares are up, Krush will be essentially queued. If the cap isn't met, any rare whose random timer has elapsed (6-24 hours depending on what the server "rolled") can then spawn. I have seen this first-hand many times while trying to coax TLPD/Vyragosa out of hiding :) and am nearly 100% confident that this is how Northrend rares work.

But if you put in the time, you will find him for sure. I wish you luck!

Apple took me about.. 8-10 hours of camping to get (I was pretty determined to snatch a green dino after OCJ). I had not really tried to look for him before. Tried to tame once before 4.0, with not much luck. :P My face got eaten.
Me and my friend, and one herb bot were the only ones online in Sholazar on the night I spotted him under Mosslight Pillar.
He's VERY hard to miss. :P My npc scan didnt go off, but his towering form can be seen from very far away anyway. :3

Is it really that long ? That would explain why you only see him 1x a day. I've spent all day out there and nobody including myself have seen anything. I would of atleast seen a dead body but they would of had to kill him really fast and skin him before anyone would see it..

*chuckle* I don't think my case is exactly usual. I made an attempt to tame Krush, got feared, and had him killed out from under me by a night elf rogue for the achievement. I sort of stopped looking after that, until we got the expanded stables, then I resumed the hunt. I didn't see him from the day I lost him to the day I managed to tame him. My SilverDragon counter as to time elapsed between sightings? 347 days, so nearly a year for me to get King Krush. :D But don't let that deter you! Stack haste and, if you happen to have some PvP gear, that might give you a little bit of a stamina boost as well.

Good luck!

Well alot of my gear got haste when they got rid of mana. My tame time is 8-10 seconds. I could pop a haste drink to up my haste more.
