It seems this little guy completely disappears when he dies just a heads up so u know this is the reason he might seem to suddenly disappear.

Yeah, when I first tamed mine, he died like 12 seconds later and disappeared. I have to admit, I panicked because I had named him (Bluehawaii) and everything! I was like noooo can't I keep this guy? T^T

I think it's the newly-tamed pet hitting their pre-tamed scripted death timer. It is pretty panic-inducing though.

Yeah, both sources of white worms also do that. The red carrion scarab as well, from memory. It is worrying the first time, when it's suddenly gone.

I think it would be funny if every now and then, after taming a new pet, the pet would go and simply one shot kill you.

Then after you rez, and next time you call him/her out, it would say:

Barnacus apologizes for what just happened, he/she simply forgot that you are now a friendly unit to him/her now after the recent taming.
