Why would you need skill? You could draw stickfigures for all I care, the stuff you would win with would be CREATIVITY, not the graphical quality. And why would you use a scanner? Just download gimp and doodle something up. It's significantly harder to be creative in a screencap contest, whereas anyone can depict anything in a picture.

What of those who cant handle GIMP? Not everyone here has a good running computer. Some here have a computer that barely runs WoW, I'm sure. So I'm suggesting something that everyone can participate in rather than only a handful.

Gimp is very cheap performance-wise. But if your computer can't even handle THAT (and then your computer would be below the absolute minimum specs for WoW) you can always use mspaint.exe, or equivalent. Your suggestion is actually far more limiting than mine.

How? When every bit of WoW is at your disposal? I make screencaps all the time with creative flare and even put them up on deviantart. Should try it sometime. Not that difficult.

I wasnt here to argue. I was here to offer a suggestion thats open to more people, whether or not you agree with it.

Either way, I love Mania's idea of Demotivational posters using caps. Would make an excellent contest!

I was thinking of these ones sometime ago. One was something like an Alliteration competition?

An alliteration is a sentence in which every word within the sentence all start with the same letter. With this type of format it would hopefully be easy enough to make them pet themed too.

E.g.

Steadily, static swirls simultaneously surround Skoll.
Silently shedding stealth, Skoll’s soul slowly swells.
Suddenly, savage surging sparks swiftly shoot skyward, shining, scorching, searing.
Spirit Strike!


Another idea would possibly be along the same lines, but have a pet themed Tongue Twister competition?

E.g.

Picky petoholic’s pick Petopia pensively previewing the prettiest of pet pictures.

I love Azu's idea of a creative writing contest. I'd also definitely be open for a screen cap contest, but with criteria (i.e., not just "show us a pretty picture") and the racial joke one would definitely be entertaining.

I would be as well. I suck at drawing and I lack creativity for it as well. I have Gimp but I hardly use it or even know how to use 95% of it's features. Screen shots are easy. You press a single button if you like what you see on your screen.
