Now that the world is about to explode...
How many of these things have you experienced? Were there some you had heard about, or are they all unknown to you? It brought back memories for me, anyway... (Deep Ocean, Vast Sea... *Spit*)

Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
"The only enchanting trainer at higher level was in Uldaman. " I remember as a rogue I had to frequently stealth to her in Ulda, especially when I forgot to get enough mats to skill up to the next tier. That was super annoying
"There was a hunter that stacked spellpower gear(for mend pet) and soloed Azuregos. " I remember seeing this video, I think it took him 1.5 hours to do it if I remember correctly, I think at lvl 70.
The best though:
"Walljumping allowed you to carry the flag in WSG to an unreachable spot, making you invulnerable. If both flag carriers did that, the game could last until the players log out/dc(which could be days). "
~I would do this on my Twink Hunter in WSG BG's when I had the flag in the horde zone. It was super fun to run on the Logging parts of the fortress, and being ranged it helped gank a few people from high up

And the terrible lack of flight points and graveyards, not just in the Barrens (though it was the worst because it's so big, and of course the corpse runs to RFK and RFD). But Ashenvale was pretty bad, too. I also remember having a really hard time finding herbs in Ashenvale before "collectibles" glittered. Though some of that has to do with the bad computer I had back then that displayed the whole area as a blue-ish green blur. Seriously, I couldn't see anything.
It's interesting that Blizzard never did much with Azshara because they realised what a mess that place is. I really hate that zone. I know a lot of people were upset when it was shown what the goblins do with it. But I just hoped they'd buldozer the whole place! XD
Something I didn't know:
"There is an NPC next to Haris Pilton in shattrath city, that is only viewable by priests who have level 60 trinket equipped. (forgot it's name)"
Does someone have any more info on this? What NPC and what trinket? I don't think I've heard of that before.

Is that the underwater murlocs? Because I still have nightmares about that one.Mindsprocket wrote:I remember doing "Deep Ocean, Vast See..." on a nightelf priest, the first char I leveled beyond level 10. Oh, the HORROR! Yeah, the ones that flew trough walls, and all kinds of things. Plus, I only had time to kill one or two before I needed more air. -.-Mania wrote:Is that the underwater murlocs? Thanks! I didn't know about "Ricole Nichie". That's weird XDlilatha wrote:@Mindsprocket http://www.wowhead.com/item=18646 thats the item
And yeah, Murlocs coming from all sides, some attacking you through walls, but you can't attack them because, you know, they're behind a wall. >< And your breath only lasted 1 minute back then. Fun times!

Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
Still an evil quest back in TBC....Many players think that worst quest in vanilla was "Deep ocean,Vast sea...", because the breath timer was only 60 seconds and murlocs could move through walls. Ouch.
man of many talents....Chris Metzen is the voice actor of Ragnaros/Nefarian/Thrall/Rexxar/Varian Wrynn/Deathbringer Saurfang/Algalon, and many more.
Thats about all I saw that concerned the kitty druid I played. they should add this:
"If you weren't a Resto Druid in TBC, you weren't invited to raids much, if at all or instances."
Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
I have never, in my five or so years of playing WoW, seen MC. The other day was the first time I've seen Kara, as well as my first time trying to heal. (I did awesomeish, except for Netherspite or Nightbane or whatever, who smoked us and SoA.) I have never seen Uld, the raid ToC, or ZA.
Never ran Scholo. I've never run half of the BC instances and raids. And I've never done Darrowshire.
Yeah.
In other news though, I do remember grinding half a level at 39 to get my slow cat. >.>
Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
I would disagree. Perhaps if just feral kitty. I raided as a MT/OT Feral quite often and ran plenty of heroics (in which I always HAD to tank). Tanks were hard to find, and I frequently ran Kara and some Gruuls Lair (never got past those). What I loved with Feral tanks back then is I remember I got up to about 20k health (normal tanks had 16-17k), and around 30k armor (normal warriors had maybe 18k or so). Druids rocked it in having higher armor and higher health possibilities for a bit thereTaluwen wrote: "If you weren't a Resto Druid in TBC, you weren't invited to raids much, if at all or instances."

Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
-Survival spec was pretty much useless since it had a lot of melee talents like counterattack, mongoose bite, and lacerate. A few hunters used it with some success when battlegrounds came out.
-The 31 point talent for beastmastery was SPirit bond. Back then it was an activated ability that caused you to gain 40hp for every successful hit your pet makes. Using Broken Tooth cat (back then fastest attack speed pet at 1 second) you could regen a lot of HP fast making this a great PVP talent.
-Pets did not scale with hunter stats, but some rare pets kept special abilities after taming like +100 all resistances (Snarler), super fast run speed (feralas wolf), fast attack speed (Broken Tooth)
- Hunter abilities were not normalized to weapon speed, so a hunter using a slow speed blue gun could out dps a fast speed epic gun. I myself did this in Molten core using a Flawless Arcanite Rifle. I beat out other hunters using Core Marksman Rifle. The standard rotation was serpent sting, aimed shot, multishot, arcane, repeat. Sometimes serpent sting was not used because it used up a valuable debuff slot (there was a max of 8 slots then)
-Hunters used to be designated pullers. Shoot from behind tank to pull, then feign death when the mob reaches the tank.
-Traps were only usable out of combat. However, hunters could lay a trap and wait for the cooldown to expire. Then pull a mob, trap, feign death, lay a second trap, trap a second mob or chain trap the first.
-Nightelf hunters used to be able to start casting aimed shot from shadowmeld. Shadowmeld had a very quick cooldown and the Shadowmeld + Aimed combo proved lethal in PVP and was nerfed after some time.

I also remember UBRS being a raid, and that the last slot was almost always very hard to fill, because someone in the group needed the key to access it. Since the parts needed for the key didn't always drop off of bosses, and only one gem was dropped when they did, meaning that it was often taken by other group members looking to complete their own keys, putting it all together was very involved and something few players actually managed to do.

The standard rotation was aimed shot, aimed shot, aimed shot, aimed shot, repeat. Serpent sting was never used because it used up a valuable debuff slot (there was a max of 8 slots then) and it scaled with spell power, same with arcane.
Fixed. =P

Re: Now that the world is about to explode...
The walkthrough videos were a gorgeous treat. And I'm so glad I've finally seen female trolls from alpha! Oh, they forgot to mention that female TAUREN also lacked their modern sexual dimorphism-- they might have been a smidgen smaller, but they were still pretty much the males with tits tacked on until people whined that they weren't eyecandy enough.
Another good one they missed-- once upon a time, HoTs didn't stack. Even if you had three Priests in the raid, any given character could have ONE Renew going on them at a time. Not a terrible thing for them, but then consider Druids... I distinctly remember someone declaring that stacking HoTs were Blizzard's way of saying it'd be all right and giving you a hug. That was a huge deal.
Last, before I stop myself: moonkin form gave a chance on hit to regain mana proportional to your attack power. That's why feral staves would have AP bonuses for "Cat, Bear, Dire Bear, Moonkin" on them.

Edit -- I wasn't imagining it, though from what wowhead says, it still has the armor increase, just not 360% like old.

Remember when you had to search for quests before they showed them on the minimap?
Remember when only Org and Ironforge had auction houses?
Remember when you first met the welcome bear?
Among so much other stuff. Ah the memories
