How did you manage fishing up the Sea Turtle?

I am currently working on my fishing skills exclusively on Northrend Pools in hopes of catching a Sea Turtle. Question for those who have braved the fishing task to get one of these mounts... How did you stay sane?

I currently have my turtle pet out at all times when I'm fishing in hopes that he will lure the Sea Turtle out, but no luck so far.

Feel free if you have any good screenies of you and your turtle to post them. I like looking at pics to help keep myself motivated.

On my main? Fifth or so. On my hunter? Over a thousand by now, and no turtle. Yeah...

I actually like fishing though, I find it relaxing.

I don't even try. I've tried fishing for specific things without much luck (DAMN YOU DARK HERRING!! *shakes fist*) so I changed strategy and only fish when I'm in the mood or need fish for cooking. Then I'll focus on fishing from places where I might get one of the drops I'd want.

Uhhhh....I was fishing up Fish Feast mats for a friend, and out pops this turtle! Yep, that's how I did it.

I had been looking for Arcturis day and night, when I suddenly found him. And he got killed by alliance player
After that I went to the Basin just to "fish and be there if I happen to see something"
Maybe Blizzard felt my unhappieness but only a few casts "poff" it scared me to death with the sound of an achivement ^^

Well I got it with like 7k casts+ made in Northrend

Heh, I would trade my Arcturis for the Sea Turtle any day.

Maybe that means that I have to sacrifice Arcturis as a hunter is taming him, then I can fish up the Sea Turtle? No?

Sara you ever get the Dark Herring? I'm fishing up in Howling Fjord in hopes for either the Dark Herring or the Sea Turtle on the same cast. Some very smart and intelligent person posted a comment that I should do that here:

No, no I didn't. I ended up ragequitting on the Salty title (though Salty Sarayana does sound particularly catchy) because I kept reading how easy it is to get the Dark Herring and how even easier it is to get the stupid box in Terokkar.

Fishing's the one thing in-game that just won't cooperate with me. I've done the Dalaran fishing dailies to death, but I still have no crab minipet. My husband did his 3rd or 4th and said "what's this strand crawler thing in my bag?" o____________o

I think they buffed up or glitched up the chance for a Crocolisk minipet in the Croc's in teh City quest. My one friend (Goulet in the guild) has gotten 3 different baby crocs within the past month of doing the daily i think 4 times when its up on his fisherorc. My hunter did the Croc's quest once and got Chuck on the first try (not complaining, but I think perhaps something is amuck here)


~I'll try for the Salty title if I ever manage to win a Fishing contest. Due to parenting and work, i've only been able to participate in 1 booty bay contest and 1 Kaluak contest... in 3 years

They need to make a contest late at night on weekdays or something too. Both at around the same time on weekends just doesnt work for many of us

They fixed the drop rates for the croc minipets way back in early Wrath. I did the dailies for about a month and a half (when they were up within that period, that is) and got all four.

I agree with you on the fishing contest, though lately Marcus' nap has tended to overlap I just would hate to have to go and get him right after fishing up enough fish to win, you know? Eh, it's just one title I suppose.

Huh, well I too am after that darned Dark Herring (!!!!!) and after trawling that lake in Howling Fjord for like 3 hours, up popped a sea turtle. Now all I have left for Salty is the competition, fishing in certain pools, and getting a rare fish.

Lawl, my guild exploded when I fished it up.

I've fished the lake in the Borean Tundra for hours on end looking for that damned turtle, it's like my Moby Dick. Plus side, I've fished up enough muscleback sculpin to fill the Exodar and they sell for between 10 - 20 gold per stack. They helped pay for my artisan flying.

Ugh I've never had luck, and I was the one who fished and cooked fish feasts for my main 25man raid.
Meanwhile another girl in the raid didn't even know the mount existed, went out to fish one day and she got it almost immediately. (She gets a lot of things by accident this way....)
Then another friend of mine went out just once to help with fish feasts..and BOOM him too.
So now they taunt me with them -_- since they know I've spent a ridiculous amount of time fishing without luck.

Great....now this reminded me and I'm going to fixate on it. Aaaargh!

Mine was the same way, fishing for feast fish, in Grizzly Hills. Hunter hasn't got it yet even though she does all the fishing now that the druid has it.

My fishing was fairly low, like in the 200s, even including lures and my fancy pole etc. I had leveled my fishing entirely through the Dalaran Fountain, and I was sick to death of fishing up weeds and coins. I figured that I might as well make some gold off fish I catch out in the 'wild' so I decided to head along the coast looking for fish. I don't even think I could Track Fish at this point in time haha, but I knew I wanted to fish in pools because of the miniscule chance I could get the mount.

I ended up in Grizzly Hills and I joking whispered to my boyfriend 'I'm gunna go fish up the turtle now LOL' and he was like 'yeah, right.' He was in a raid at the time, and we were in a personal guild with just us in it. I cast a total of 8 times and then I see a Blue item in my fishing loot.. uh.. what...

I didn't have auto loot on and I stared at it in disbelief for about 45 seconds before I finally clicked it into my inventory and got the achievement. My boyfriend replies '..... are you serious.' He told everyone in his raid group and I got a bunch of people whispering me about it.

I got very very lucky.

I can't say much for the mount, but the minipets have co-operated with me quite a bit, and I have all of them. Got the crawdad on my 3rd or so cast, and the pet for first wish, two crocs on the first two croc dailies, the rest were a few weeks or so after, and the sewer rat twice while fishing for the jewlery daily. Aproc half way to salty, but there are tons of easy things I've yet to do.

I was fishing for a while before I got mine. At first I would just fish here and there for feast mats and hope to get a turtle along the way. But as cata had been approaching and I found the need for feasts to be lessening I started fishing exclusively for the turtle.
One evening a friend came over on his druid and in a fun little rp where he stopped to ask for directions from a penguin, showed me a better fishing spot. I still didnt nab the turtle that night but it was fun, and helped to break the tedium.

The next day I went to crystalsong to fish for glassfin minnows for more water walking potions, and bam, got the turtle lol.

I simply fished for food buffs for my toons. I got mine while fishing up eels in Ulduum.

How did I get it ... I /w'ed a friend saying I was going to spend all day fishing for it and just as I sent that I got it
Though each time I've gotten it I've been in Dragonblight and I hear alot get it from fishing there.

Going to try for it on my Hunter since you can now get it from Deepholm, Mount Hyjal, Twilight Highlands or Uldum .... Just a shame I already leveled my cooking I guess a good way to go about it is to find out which fish sells well on your realm and mainly fish in those pools you might get lucky :3

You can also get it in Tol Barad Peninsula. I tried for ages to get the thing on my hunter during WotLK. While fishing up fathom eels to cook for raiding one day (after using up a ton due to wipes the night before), I was shocked to finally get one.
