Extremely sad. D:
I just noticed my Nthanda was changed to a bird of prey and is no longer a carrion bird. I can't find a carrion bird version of the black druid model anywhere. I swear I read somewhere there still is one, but maybe not... halp? Or am I doomed to have Nthanda forever changed?

Re: Extremely sad. D:
What did she used to be? There's three different 'black druid raven' forms that presently scan as Carrion Birds: Dire Ravens (Blade's Edge mountains), Daggercap Hawks (Howling Fjords), and... uh... *checks Petopia as a reminder* Flord Crows (also Howling Fjords, but closer to the Horde places)
Come see Kurasu's stables!

Oh, well, she -was- adaggercap hawk. I checked the other two, and they're also bird of prey. This really crushes me... Nthanda always had been and always will be a carrion bird. I would be really happy if I could have her back D: That, or to make the actual raven models from the worgen area and similar places tameable, but really, I just want my baby birdy back.

Blizzard Made the Owl that was a Carrion Bird into a BoP as well. I hope this isn't a point towards other Ghost wolves turning into Spirit beasts, as it would be rather upsetting for the many hunters that aren't BM that have an 'old' Ghost Wolf.

Gimlion, I doubt you have to worry about the latter. The 'ghost wolf' Spirit Beast is bound to be a completely different NPC than the tBC wolf was. In other words, they will share the same skin but have two separate IDs.

Cute doesn't need an explanation.

Yeah, I understand that, and is why I'm only slightly concerned, but Blizz would only make this change to prove their liking of same-skin=same-family... And this is what concerns me, although only slightly.

Re: Extremely sad. D:
Guh, now I want to cry. Nthanda changed. She's not supposed to change ;_; She's an angry, hungry raven that steals food and refuses to hunt for herself if she can make someone else do it for her. She's a -carrion bird-. She doesn't do flips for you. Her idea of a trick is biting your fingers off. She flaps her wings in your face and screeches at you. She's too small to steal someone's weapon. And even if she could, she wouldn't just hold it from you, she'd use it to stab you.
I'm just going to go curl up in a corner now. I don't like this patch anymore. <sob>
Blizz please, -please- change this back.

Re: Extremely sad. D:
Uuuuh. You do know that the black carrion birds also had entirely different ID's than their brown cousins? Hell the FIRST Stormcrow was in TBC! If this was changed then quite possibly those other ghost wolves will be changed or already have.Cialbi wrote:Gimlion, I doubt you have to worry about the latter. @Kirrandria; just turn Snatch off and move trick out of the toolbar; she may not screech anymore persay but she will be noisy and scream in their faces still. All is not lost; she is still your bird. She just lost her voice.
Edit: Or perhaps you can have Snatch as, she flew into their faces to fiercely, thus causing the targeted mob to drop their weapon in favor of OH GOD BIRD IN FACE BIRD IN FACE EVERYTHING BURNS IT BURNS?

Re: Extremely sad. D:
I'm sorry, it's just not the same. It's just like telling a hunter to go tame a different devilsaur after killing Krush in front of them. Nthanda is a carrion bird, plain and simple, and I really don't want it any other way. She's been by my side ever since Wrath came out, and while she's not my most used pet, she's probably the one with the most personality. I don't want another skin, nor do I want her family changed. I want my sweetheart, if you could call her that, back.Ryai wrote:Uuuuh. You do know that the black carrion birds also had entirely different ID's than their brown cousins? I mean, gods damnit, I'm already having trouble deciding between two birds of prey. I'm not going to start trying to pick between THREE. If Blizz is gonig to make me do that, they better start giving me more pet slots while they're at it. That other bird was supposed to be Nthanda's mate. Nt an actual mate, really, more like a very friendly rivalry? After trying to kill each other for a few weeks, they finally learn to accept each other and work together, and even respect each other.
This is just... it makes me really sad.
Re: Extremely sad. D:
Um I have to say no, it's not. Just because your bird is a bit quieter now and all, does not change any RP you have to her. Did her skin change? No. Did her model change? No. What changed? She just lost screech- but how do birds in general attack anyways? They get in the mobs faces, just like you had her. Nothing has changed with her outside of changing families.Kirrandria wrote:I'm sorry, it's just not the same. I'm not saying go get another skin or another pet; I was trying to tell you how you could still keep your 'sweetheart', with you. I even tried to suggest how you could explain your bird disarming mobs- I mean she's clawing their eyes out as she screeches at them, most things freak out when something flies at their face and their first thought is OHGODGETITAWAY-> ergo drop what they are holding. She's been by my side ever since Wrath came out, and while she's not my most used pet, she's probably the one with the most personality. I can understand your pain but I am trying to give you the ability to still keep her; all she did was change her 'family tree', not her skin, not herself, not your RP behind her, nothing. She. Is. Still. The. Same.

Re: Extremely sad. D:
She really is not, no matter how much you say it. She's different. And a family change is a big thing. Blizz took away the screech ability, which is nice for PvE, and gave me a PvP ability when I rarely PvP. If I want that ability back, then I'm FORCED to tame a different skin. And yes, it is comparable to having a rare you camped killed. I truly, honestly feel that way. I've had it happen before ( Humar and a long long time ago, Rak'shiri ), And I can honestly say I've not felt sadder about anything regarding my hunter as I do, right now.
Re: Extremely sad. D:
I'm sorry, I'm trying to be understanding, but... some of its fight mechanics and talents have changed. That's all.
ALL pet talents (and player talents) changed in 4.0. Your crow's are a bit more different than if it'd stayed in the same family, but not by much. Everything about combat mechanics has changed to some degree. Your pet couldn't be exactly the same in that regard even if it DID stay in the same family.

Then tame a different bird- it doesn't have to be a 'replacement' bird. You said yourself you were going to get her a 'rival' of sorts, the rival could be the carrion bird. And also snatch isn't that bad for PVE either, it's a pathetically weak PVP skill anyways [what with reduced disarm effects and all]- Mobs, yes mobs you kill CAN BE DISARMED, meaning they hit for LESS. So while it's not as 'useful' as Screech, it is not as useless as lets say... Old Cower.Kirrandria wrote:She really is not, no matter how much you say it. She's different. No, I am sorry but it is not. You still have your bird; someone having a rare killed out from under them never had it and have to go for it again. Your heartbreak is different than the heartbreak and sorrow of someone utterly losing a pet. So your bird changed families and got some different skills? If any of my pets suddenly became tenacity, cunning or ferocity, I can honestly say it would not phase me. Why? Because I would still have them and I would thank Blizzard they did not change their skins. And yes, it is comparable to having a rare you camped killed.
And I have to say Keep a stiff upper lip. You still have your bird. She can attack, she can eat. She is not bugged, she is still a rough tumble creature you dreamed her up to be. Just because she changed families does not mean her personalities changed.I truly, honestly feel that way. I've had it happen before ( Humar and a long long time ago, Rak'shiri ), And I can honestly say I've not felt sadder about anything regarding my hunter as I do, right now.
So will you please try and come out of your corner of woe and realize, your bird is still yours. So she doesn't use screech spam anymore, so what? You admit you rarely use her to any length of time, so will it matter?

Re: Extremely sad. D:
Everyone's going to have their own personal attachments and feelings about their pets. Even if it doesn't make sense to you, don't give them a hard time over something they're clearly upset about. You can't dictate how someone else should feel. Go ahead and offer advice and information, but don't belittle someone over their own feelings.
Re: Extremely sad. D:
... but I wasn't trying to belittle. I was just trying to reason :/ but fine I'll just stfu and go play Minecraft while I wait for EU servers to finish exploding.
Re: Extremely sad. D:
I think you folks are giving Kirrandria an unnecessarily hard time. I would think if anyone could understand a strange and irrational emotional attachment to a virtual pet, it would be fellow petopians.
It's not exactly the same situation, but when I first logged on my hunter after 4.0.3 and discovered my Ghost Wolf was missing due to the stables bug, I was completely devastated. I didn't even want to play WoW, let alone look at my hunter. It was like losing a real life family pet. And if my Shunjal gets changed from wolf to spirit beast like some people speculate might be a possibility I would feel exactly the same way again. Even though they are both still ferocity pets with essentially the same abilities and functionality -- it would NOT be the same pet and the emotional attachment I had to it (regardless of how silly that sounds) would also not be the same.
Seriously, if ever there was any community of people that I thought would identify with this sort of reaction, I would have thought it would be here on these forums. And quite frankly, I think you guys should be ashamed of yourselves for berating Kirrandria. I sorta feel like you owe her(him?) an apology.
Kirrandria, I'm sorry for your loss. I truly understand how you feel and I can only hope you eventually come to love your new Bird of Prey as much as you loved him when he was a Carrion Bird. Or that you find another pet that fills the void this one has left in your virtual heart.

But maybe she doesn't want to PvE with a different pet. I wouldn't dream of PvPing with a pet other than Odin, even though Odin is no longer the "cream of the crop" PvP-wise.Ryai wrote:Then tame a different bird- it doesn't have to be a 'replacement' bird. This is the part that Veph found belittling. It is the same thing - and this comes from a person who has had Krush and Loque the both stolen away from her, the latter twice. It can be the same - if my Terrordeath lost her carrion bird status...she wouldn't be Terrordeath. She wouldn't be the Calmed Scourge of the Badlands. She'd be some bird thingy. If my Deadlock was to turn into some fire-breathing thingy I couldn't bring with me to dungeons, I'd probably die a bit inside, cause she's my Deadlock. No, I am sorry but it is not. Remember, Ryai - you are not Kirr. Things that wouldn't phase you might be absolutely heartbreaking for her.
Again, you're being a little insensitive. At no point as she said she rarely uses her (she commented that she's not her most used pet, but then again, Deadlock's not mine and Deadlock is still not only near and dear to me but she does plenty). This matters to Kirr. D:And I have to say Keep a stiff upper lip. You still have your bird. She can attack, she can eat. Raydex, don't get creeped out... but I just had a SERIOUS case of deja vu while looking at your post (mostly just while skimming over the second paragraph). Everything, the subject matter, the parties involved and even the formatting of your post. I mean serious... like I feel like I've just time traveled. O.o
