Just found out something that further implies that the Ants should have, indeed, been tamable. Was heading through the Silithid areas to ZF to grab myself a black beetle and I Beast Lored one of the Ant silithids. Despite being marked as not tamable, these guys ARE beasts AND they have a Diet!

Methinks this will soon be fixed and we'll have ants for ALL!

Yeah, I hope so. I'm kinda disappointed in me, in that I failed to let all my hunter friends know about this awesome bug before it was too late.

Judging by the screenshots, I'm guessing these guys use the Beetle animations. This is indeed awesome, I can't wait to get on later today to check out my ants.

How astute. Yes, I can confirm that these do in fact use the beetle animations, right down to the butt attack.

I encountered a ...bug...when I went to name mine, since I hadn't named him before. I could not name him. Luckily though I had some certificates of ownership, and that did the trick!

Everyone who hadn't renamed their pet when it was a scorpid has been having this problem, I'm afraid.

I was wondering about that, as I have one of these on my orc and male dwarf (got one on my female dwarf too, but she's only lvl 24...)

I've been using him in dungeons to level him and put him in stables for a bit when I ran ICC and logged out with him in there and he's still around.

Not since they were made Silithids a few (beta) patches ago

I also didn't have any issues with it, as if the wow dev team already made this model to behave as a hunter pet.

I also got lucky and after relogging after the patch in Tanaris I found both Harakiss and Ainamiss.

I got a little proof that the Silithid Swarmers as a creature are as confused as to their origin as we are to them turning from Scorpid to Silithid:

I just did the quest that involved killing them outside Desolation Hold. They are dropping Broken Scorpid Legs and Heavy Scorpid Legs (both grey items), not the usual Silithid grey junk.

They still think they are Scorpids.
