Beetles VS Turtles

There any difference between these 2 classes of pet? Both have Bite as their only offence and both have the same defence ability with a different name. The Turtle perfers 2 more food types than the Beetle, but that's all I can see different other than the looks.

Never liked the way the turtles looked, but do like the new beetles. Black beetle goes great with my undead hunter. ^^

I'm really happy about this - Sara doesn't "do" turtles and went and got Rorschach, a white/black beetle from AQ20. Aoani, on the other hand, is sort of put off by these very outlandish beasts and prefers her green turtle Marjoram (Ghamoo-ra). This way they both have tanking pets that can take a beating without compromising their personal style.

It's the same with a friend and I. She's all for the beetles, while as much as I love them, I can't give up my Panzer for anything. Personally I think it's pretty neat.

I choose the Beatles over the Turtles anyday. Their musical influence was far greater and their songs more catchy...

I'm kinda disappointed about this myself.

It's the same with wind serpents/dragon hawks.

You could almost say the same about warp stalkers/crocolisks, but one's ranged and the latter's melee iirc.

Quite a few skills were recycled when most of them were changed to be filler for other class/spec abilities.

Worm/ravager abilities have the same effect, different execution too... probably some more but that's all I can remember.

Edit: Just remembered, dog and crab abilities.

Windserpent and Dragonhawk are identical in everything other than food preferences. Including the range, their tree, the fact they're both non-exotic...

I'm getting this one on my third hunter, a goblin who will have all red pets. I love that turtle, I just don't see him suiting either of my existing hunters - it's sort of a "soft RP" reason, but my main loves the weird pets so she got a beetle, and my alt hunter is much more into the natural, non-otherworldly look so she got Ghamoo-ra. I think this is the perfect compromise and gives each of my hunters a solid tanking pet that they can bond with.

Windserpent and Dragonhawk are identical in everything other than food preferences. Including the range, their tree, the fact they're both non-exotic...

They're also both flying winged serpents, making the choice point much more moot - if you don't like legless flying snake things in bright colors (or black) than you're screwed. I do, but some people don't D:

I really wanted to keep my turtle on my main hunter, since almost all her pets are named after rare spawns, Notorious Monsters or bosses from Final Fantasy XI, so the ancient turtle model was perfect for Genbu. But after playing around with a beetle on my second hunter, I just fell in love with the little buggers. They're so much more lively. So I went the extra mile on my main and went into AQ10 to tame a white beetle, and instead of going with the usual naming scheme, I named it Herbie.
