Not working on Searing Roc in tanaris.
Did 60 tries, most of them right on timing - they r ended up without nice sparks.

This would be because they lose the fire effect upon death, so you can't despawn them with Revive Pet before the fire effect disappears.

Maybe you haven't looted them? They're already listed in my previous lists, they definitely don't keep the buff at death. Unless you are bugged!

Just did this myself. I followed the guide, but I did it a bit differently;

No items except ranged weapon equipped.
Serpent sting, strafe and spam esc key.
Waited two seconds after initial tick of damage. Counted in my head "One one thousand, two one thousand, NOW"
At the last few seconds of tame, I spammed the hell out of Revive pet. Pet icon was a whistle this way, as it despawned and DIDN'T die at the last second. Counted as dead via the spell though.
Logged out, saw the bird.
Logged in, clicked new owl icon, then revive pet.

Must have tried over 50 birds, then read how you spammed Revive pet the last seconds, so i tried and to my surprise that worked like a charm.

Here is what I did:

- be nude, only bow (tabards are ok for the prudes )
- shoot with that macro from startpost
- wait till the serpent sting has 10,5 sec left
- hit tame
- last 2 seconds spam Revive pet

voila!

Do Not Keep Buff After Death:

* Searing Rocs (Sparkle Effect)
* Fire Rocs (Sparkle Effect)
* Blighthound (The green glow is actually a "Disease Cloud" that deals damage, and vanishes a few secs after death)
* Ashmane Boars (The blue glow dissipates even if you kill them before they go Felboar)
* The Tainted beasts (Bat, Spider & Bear) in The Tainted Forest of Blasted Lands (buff/debuff; loses it upon death)
* Felscale Crawlers (Yellow Fire)
* Princess (Pink Ribbon)
* Rabid Worg (Green Disease Effect, Silverpine)

Yeah, I'm giving up on him for now--there's a steady stream of players from both factions needing him for the quest, and the tame is extremely difficult to solo-time... moreso when there's a 2.5 minute respawn timer involved.

Luckily on my realm only one person has come up to kill, let her kill and waited for next respawn. I'm going to keep trying- I have a feeling its possible

It took a good long while, but I was able to finally get the oil hawk.

Still trying to tame the oil stained hawk, this seems a lot tougher than the blue vulture >.< I try the counting one-one-thousand two-one-thousand tame, counting that after hitting SS - I go naked with the epic vanilla bow so my crit is only 1% and I still have a ranged so I can shoot, but when I hit revive pet it stops the tame and I'm not sure when exactly I need to time the revive with the tame.

Don't do the counting, you are never accurate that way, i tried. Instead look at the countdown of your serpent sting. The buff is on the bird, mine counted down from 15-0 so at 10,5 I cast tame beast, so they went in synch. At 2 sec I hit Revive pet a couple of times

It took me probably around 80 birds to get mine, so don't give up! Right when I was on the verge of saying screw it, it worked.

Whats the deal with revive pet and the oil hawk? I think i got lost in the forum posts. I just don't get why you have to spam Revive Pet for this...

Just got the wolf, hope they don't get rid of the buff on the pets.... that would be sad.. ive already got attached to him.
